How I overcame my Imposter Syndrome

Literally everybody in any field has higher possibilities of falling in imposter syndrome.
From childhood we had been practised to compare ourselves with our peers to evaluate our worth. And,I am nowhere exceptional!

In school days till 12th grade I had used my computer only to play games, watching movies, surfing internet etc.Never came across the word programming.Never thought how this things work.Everything is before me but never tried to understand those.

Then college admission phase started, decided to study Engineering (I always wanted to be an engineer)but confused in choosing stream.Literally many engineers were facing unemployment and there is lot of confusion in choosing my career path and, finally, settled down with Computer Science Engineering in a Government College.

When I entered my college I realised that many students are knowledgeable and talented than me especially they had the knowledge of programming where I only heard that term there! So, here starts the self doubt and inferiority complex.

Definitely it took me a lot of struggle to overcome the inferiority complex i.e imposter syndrome.I'm sharing my experience so that even a single student benefits from me I would be so happy.

 Seek help

It is very important to seek help when you feel low.Not everyone learns or knows everything before they start. You must just understand that your peers started before you started your journey.Seek help from the people whom you think or talented than you, seek help from people who are willing to help you.Ask them their journey of learning, tricks to learn and how you can help yourself. It can be your teachers, friends or family. This is will definitely boost you to atleast try the things out.

 Stop Procrastination

I won't agree totally that procrastination is bad.Because procrastination will help you relax, may help you to focus on things better and it will give you the happiness even before you achieve something!Definitely it will boost your energy. But,it becomes bad when you just procrastinate and not doing the needs to achieve your goals. You must understand that we are greedy people who always wanted success without failure,we procrastinate in such a way that in our dream everything will work in the speculated time and scenario.

But in reality, things take time! You can never achieve success on your first attempt, things may go wrong,it can make you tired and fed up.You may start to feel low cause your reality doesn't match your dream. But the real achievement is when you are not giving up and trying even more harder so that your dream matches your reality.

tip:Your procastination must have scenarios of both success and failure.Imagine yourself has a super hero.A super hero becomes only if he faces the problem and overcomes it. Procastination becomes strength when you know to handle it in right way.

 Follow Somebody And Choose Mentor

There are many people around us who are successful in their career as a programmer. Many programmers are sharing their knowledge in many social media platforms such as youtube, instagram, telegram, face book etc.Start following someone ,start following their ideas, learn from them, gather more information.Google is your best friend.Learn how to google your problems it has solution to every problem. Everyone is around to help you,it's your capability to acquire that and use it accordingly.Join in a programming community, participate in challenges, contribute in open source projects, build your portfolio with projects, participate in meetups.

I followed many people like Tanay Pratap,Hitesh Chowdary, their footpaths and advices. I participated in jobchallenge ,100 days of code challenge to develop my skill sets.Still wanna learn more and develop myself. The main objective is that it gives me confidence,it has lowered my inferiority complex and make me to learn enthusiastically .

 Competitive Coding

There are many sites such as HackerRank, leetcode,HackerEarth to enhance your competetive coding. It increases your logical thinking which is very essential for a programmer.Start from easy problems and solve one by one.Take your own time but make sure that you solve that problem. Then refer the code which is more efficient than yours.Actually you must learn to read the code written by others so that you will learn to write clean code.

 Work hard

Hard work and smart work both are required to strengthen yourself.Analyse yourself you must know your strength and understand your weakness.Work hard on your strength work harder on your weakness.Work consistently and anticipate your success.

All the best guys!!This world is for everybody, work hard and build your place in this world!

How to use map() reduce() and filter() ?

In javascript to perform operations in the array of objects we can use .map(),.reduce(),.filter().

 .map()

The map function is capable of accessing each object in an array and perform the desired operation on the each item of an array.

Let's look at the above example, a new array groceryNames is created by the map function which stores only the the names of the groceries stored in array of objects. The map function performs the callback for each value in the array and returns each new value in the resulting array.

It becomes even more easier when we use arrow function in map

 .reduce

As the name shows the .reduce() function reduces the values inside an array. The reduce passes the result of this callback (the accumulator) from one array element to the other.
The accumulator can be pretty much anything (integer, string, object, etc.) and must be instantiated or passed when calling .reduce()

After running the callback for each element of the array, reduce will return the final value of our accumulator (i.e 120).The 0 is the initial value of an accumulator,if we change value ,say 10, the resultant value would be 130.

In ES6,using arrow function

 .filter

Obviously the filter operation filters the values of an array based on certain condition and stores them in a new array.

Using arrow function,

Now let us consider a scenario where we need to get the rate of Non-veg items. We can combine these methods to get the rate from the grocery array.

Fetch API using axios and fetch API

How to fetch API in react js

An api can be fetched by two ways using

1.Fetch api

2.Axios api

Let's see both the ways of how to fetch data from an API.

 Fetch Api

Fetch api is a built in promise-based api. Let's look at an example, here we took json placeholder API which is generally used for testing.

The above code explains the basic syntax of fetching data from an api.Now let us see how we can use them in our application to render the data in components.

You can see that the fetch code block is now bounded with componentDidMount. The reason is that the data that we get from an API must be updated in states and re-rendered everytime. To make that work we are fetching data inside componentDidMount.

componentDidMount works only in class component, therefore when you fetch api data make sure that you are using class component

Also, we have declared states such as post,isLoading and error .

1.The post is used to store response data from api

2.error is used to store the error data if any error occurs.

You may be wondering why this isLoading is used and set to true.Normally,it takes some time for an api to fetch data from the endpoints.Until the data is fetched ,we are setting the value of isLoading to true then after fetching we are setting the data to false.

Here comes the main part where we are going to render the data from api.

1.First we are checking if there is any error while fetching data.If any error occures we are displaying the user that there is some error.

2.Next we are checking whether isLoading is true or false. If it's true we are indicating user that the data is still loading to display. When the data gets fetched it's set to false so the else part of the block gets rendered.

3.We are storing the API data in an array called post in our state. So, we are using map function to render each data in the component. The key value is the id of the object to identify unique data.

I think that's enough for fetch API.We can now see how can we fetch api using Axios.

 Axios API

Unlike Fetch api axios is not a build-in api. So,we need to install it.

Then, import the axios in your file where you are going to fetch data.

Here we can see the major difference is that we didn't convert the response into a json object by using

.then=>response.json()

There are many advantages and disadvantages of using both axios and fetch api.You can refer it from here.

There is no much difference in the remaining parts of the code which is similar to the previous one.

Thats all about fetching data from an api.Hope you guys understand well. Thanks for reading :-)
