Running a station alone is one thing.

Running it with several DJs, curators, and contributors introduces a different challenge: how do you distribute responsibility without giving everyone access to everything?

SavePoint sub-account management gives every contributor their own login, assigned programming, and clearly defined permissions.

Invite DJs, Curators, and Contributors

Station owners can create separate accounts for everyone involved in the operation.

Each contributor sets their own password through a time-limited setup link. No email server or SMTP configuration is required. Generate the link and share it through Discord, text, email, or another channel.

Assign Stations and Segments

Each account can be assigned to specific stations and segments.

Segments act as the primary unit of delegation. When someone receives access to a segment, they automatically receive access to the playlists contained inside it.

Add another playlist to that segment later and the contributor receives access automatically.

This allows a DJ to manage a weekly show, a curator to maintain several music blocks, or a station manager to oversee broader areas of the schedule.

Choose From 34 Permissions

SavePoint includes 34 granular capabilities organized across eight categories:

Schedule
Favorites
History
Administration

Preset roles provide a starting point for common account types, while individual permissions can be adjusted afterward.

The distinction between own content and all content allows station owners to decide whether contributors should manage only what they created or receive broader access across the station.

Set Individual Storage Quotas

Each account can receive separate limits for library and media uploads.

This gives every contributor room to work while preventing one account from consuming the station’s entire storage allocation.

Restrict DJ Mode to Scheduled Airtime

Sub-accounts integrate directly with DJ Mode.

Contributors can see a countdown to their next segment, review upcoming time slots, prepare microphone settings, and monitor the broadcast.

Push-to-talk remains locked until the contributor’s assigned segment begins.

When the segment ends, microphone access ends with it.

Protect the Station

Built-in protections help prevent accidental or unauthorized changes.

Sub-accounts cannot delete playlists or segments that are currently scheduled for broadcast. Contributors cannot attach content they do not already have permission to access.

Station owners can also use View as User to experience SavePoint through another account and confirm exactly what that contributor can see and manage.

Operate the Station Together

Sub-accounts are not simply additional usernames.

They provide a way for a community to divide responsibility across a station while protecting the programming, schedule, and content that hold the operation together.

Your DJs manage their shows. Your curators manage their playlists. You retain control of the station.

Chronolog: SavePoint v1.1.5 Adds YouTube Uploads, Smart Thumbnails, and Rich Discord Embeds

SavePoint v1.1.5, Build 211, improves how online station owners publish pre-rendered content to YouTube and announce programming through Discord.

This release focuses on three major improvements.

Upload Pre-Rendered Videos Directly to YouTube

Pre-rendered tracks can now be uploaded to YouTube without leaving SavePoint.

The upload dialog automatically pulls the title, artist, album, tags, and copyright notice from the track library. Uploads begin as private videos and include progress tracking, cancellation controls, and a direct link to the uploaded video.

SavePoint can also add each video to an existing YouTube playlist or create a new playlist automatically.

Select and Prepare Smarter Thumbnails

YouTube thumbnails now follow the same image inheritance system used during broadcasts:

Playlist
Segment
Station master

Station owners can also select another image from the media library.

When an image exceeds YouTube’s 2 MB thumbnail limit, SavePoint automatically resizes it to 1280 × 720 before uploading it.

Publish Richer Discord Announcements

Discord announcements can now use rich embeds instead of plain text.

Each channel can be configured independently, with options to include the track background image and display it as either a large banner or compact thumbnail.

The embed builder combines track metadata, album artwork, and station branding into a more polished announcement.

Restream + SavePoint: Simulcast to 30+ Platforms from One Station

We’re proud to share that SavePoint now supports Restream as a native channel type.

For developers and station builders, the architecture is straightforward:

SavePoint manages the station, playlists, schedules, and broadcast output. Restream becomes one destination in the channel lineup. From there, Restream handles the fan-out to 30+ platforms.

This is useful when a station wants broader distribution without asking its own server to encode a separate stream for every platform.

We’re pleased with this direction because it gives smaller stations a more practical growth path. Native SavePoint channels are still there when you need deeper per-channel control, scheduling, chat behavior, and platform-specific settings.

[chronolog] SavePoint 1.1.4 Release 🎉

In our first post for our Dev.to profile we are highlighting one of SavePoint’s earliest releases: SavePoint v1.1.4.

This release helped define the product’s direction by introducing a pre-rendering engine that could pre-encode content into a streaming-ready format, or pre-assemble it when layered through our visual components tool.

Those additions helped users deliver a CPU-manageable visual experience for community radio streams, while also giving content owners a way to move a wide variety of video content into a pre-programmed schedule.

SavePoint v1.1.4 also introduced our first station backup and restore features, along with Live Mic Mode, which allowed in-app microphone control over the broadcast, even when the station was running pre-recorded video.

At the time of this post, we are currently serving SavePoint v1.40.1. The minor version number tells part of the story: 40 rounds of significant product additions since the release of v1.0.0.
