Build a Modern Data App is a 3-day virtual hackathon that aims to bring together developers, designers and entrepreneurs across the globe, to use their skills to build the next cloud-native application that leverages DataStax’s Astra DB and potentially become a unicorn.

We challenge you to create impactful projects using Astra DB as your backend.

There are no limitations on the themes or sectors that you can choose. No limitations on the programming languages you can use to build your apps.

All you have to do is have Astra DB as your backend.

The Challenge:

Build innovative and impactful solutions with Astra DB as the core of your solution for this hackathon. No limitations on what technologies to use and what programming languages to code in.
All you have to do is have Astra DB as part of your project.

From App to Startup - Incubator Program

DataStax and the One Million by One Million (1Mby1M) global virtual accelerator have come together to launch the “DataStax - 1Mby1M Startup Challenge.” 1Mby1M is a virtual program that offers entrepreneurs access to a vast network of potential customers, channel partners, investors, media, analysts, and advisors.

The challenge reaffirms DataStax’s commitment to supporting developer entrepreneurs who are using Apache Cassandra™ and open source tools to build modern data applications.

The competition is open to anyone using Cassandra, DataStax Enterprise, or Astra DB as a core component of their business. Startups will be selected through an application process and the winner will be rewarded with:

$10,000
A one-year all-inclusive license to entire DataStax Astra DB, the industry’s first and only open, multi-cloud serverless database
A one year scholarship to 1Mby1M Premium, which includes access to weekly mentoring and a proven, online curriculum to help accelerate the business-building progress of entrepreneurs.

Scholarship submissions are being accepted here between Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, at 8 a.m. PT through Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021.

Help us nail the getting started experience

Hello Developers,

On our Open Source project website we have a "Getting Started" section that we would love to get some feedback on.
The reason why I am reaching out through this medium is to get some fresh eyes and unbiased opinion on the process so we can improve and nail the entire experience for all developers interested in the project.

So here is our full ask of the community:

When we relaunched the k8ssandra.io site in early May, the flow of the Get Started 1 experience changed. We’ve also recently added instructions for running K8ssandra on additional K8s distributions including Azure and Digital Ocean.

So this is a good time to ask: how was your experience getting started with K8ssandra?

Tell us your pain points and suggestions for making a more seamless experience for future newbies.
