      <description>&lt;p&gt;The findings of this systematic review are consistent with the hypothesis that low vitamin D levels might contribute to the development of autism. However, we must also recognize the possible confusion bias and therefore experimental studies with very large sample sizes, given incidence of autism, that allow us to detect blood levels in pregnant women would be helpful to clarify this point.The aim of this study was primarily to evaluate differences between parental opinion about the diet and overall changes in children's symptoms of functional abdominal pain (FAP) during the low fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols (FODMAP) diet and National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) diet. Secondly, this paper examined the agreement between parental perception of children's symptoms and children's self-assessment of symptoms during the diet in both treatment groups. Twenty-seven children with diagnosed functional abdominal pain (FAP) were randomized to one of two group, receiving the low FODMAP diet or the diet based on NICE guidelines. Children reported gastrointestinal symptoms at baseline and during the diet. At the end of the intervention, parents assessed their children's diet and symptoms changes, using Likert scales. The agreement between parental and children assessments of gastrointestinal symptoms was defined as the percentage of compatible answers. In the low FODMAP group a significantly lower percentage of parents (38%) declared that it was easy to follow the diet, compared to the NICE group (57%), (p = 0.017). A high percentage of parents in both groups reported improvement in all symptoms of children during dietary intervention. A high level of agreement was also observed between parental and children's self-assessment of abdominal pain intensity and frequency. Our research suggests that in parental opinion the low FODMAP diet is as effective as the diet based on NICE guidelines in children with FAP. However, the low FODMAP diet may seem more difficult to follow, and this may have had an impact on the effectiveness and acceptability of the FODMAP diet by children.Responsible for tularemia, Francisella tularensis bacteria are highly infectious Gram-negative, category A bioterrorism agents. The molecular mechanisms for their virulence and resistance to antibiotics remain largely unknown. FupA (Fer Utilization Protein), a protein mediating high-affinity transport of ferrous iron across the outer membrane, is associated with both. Recent studies demonstrated that fupA deletion contributed to lower F. tularensis susceptibility towards fluoroquinolones, by increasing the production of outer membrane vesicles. Although the paralogous FupB protein lacks such activity, iron transport capacity and a role in membrane stability were reported for the FupA/B chimera, a protein found in some F. tularensis strains, including the live vaccine strain (LVS). To investigate the mode of action of these proteins, we purified recombinant FupA, FupB and FupA/B proteins expressed in Escherichia coli and incorporated them into mixed lipid bilayers. We examined the porin-forming activity of the FupA/B proteoliposomes using a fluorescent 8-aminonaphthalene-1,3,6-trisulfonic acid, disodium salt (ANTS) probe. Using electrophysiology on tethered bilayer lipid membranes, we confirmed that the FupA/B fusion protein exhibits pore-forming activity with large ionic conductance, a property shared with both FupA and FupB. This demonstration opens up new avenues for identifying functional genes, and novel therapeutic strategies against F. tularensis infections.Introduction [68Ga]Ga-DO3A-VS-Cys40-Tuna-2 (previously published as [68Ga]Ga-DO3A-VS-Cys40-S01-GCG) has shown high-affinity specific binding to the glucagon receptor (GCGR) in vitro and in vivo in rats and non-human primates in our previous studies, confirming the suitability of the tracer for drug development applications in humans. The manufacturing process of [68Ga]Ga-DO3A-VS-Cys40-Tuna-2 was automated for clinical use to meet the radiation safety and good manufacturing practice (GMP) requirements. Methods The automated synthesis platform (Modular-Lab PharmTrace, Eckert &amp;amp; Ziegler, Eurotope, Germany), disposable cassettes for 68Ga-labeling, and pharmaceutical-grade 68Ge/68Ga generator (GalliaPharm®) used in the study were purchased from Eckert &amp;amp; Ziegler. The parameters such as time, temperature, precursor concentration, radical scavenger, buffer concentration, and pH, as well as product purification step, were investigated and optimized. Process optimization was conducted with regard to product quality and -DO3A-VS-Cys40-Tuna-2 was used in a clinical study for accurate quantification of GCGR occupancy by a dual anti-diabetic drug in vivo in humans.Internal body temperature is the gold standard for the fever of pigs, however non-contact infrared imaging technology (IRT) can only measure the skin temperature of regions of interest (ROI). Therefore, using IRT to detect the internal body temperature should be based on a correlation model between the ROI temperature and the internal temperature. When heat exchange between the ROI and the surroundings makes the ROI temperature more correlated with the environment, merely depending on the ROI to predict the internal temperature is unreliable. Phlorizin To ensure a high prediction accuracy, this paper investigated the influence of air temperature and humidity on ROI temperature, then built a prediction model incorporating them. The animal test includes 18 swine. IRT was employed to collect the temperatures of the backside, eye, vulva, and ear root ROIs; meanwhile, the air temperature and humidity were recorded. Body temperature prediction models incorporating environmental factors and the ROI temperature were constructed based on Back Propagate Neural Net (BPNN), Random Forest (RF), and Support Vector Regression (SVR). All three models yielded better results regarding the maximum error, minimum error, and mean square error (MSE) when the environmental factors were considered. When environmental factors were incorporated, SVR produced the best outcome, with the maximum error at 0.478 °C, the minimum error at 0.124 °C, and the MSE at 0.159 °C.       <description>&lt;p&gt;Vaginal samples from women with term deliveries were tested for torquetenovirus (TTV) by gene amplification, matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-8 and D- and L-lactic acid by ELISA, and microbiome composition by analysis of the bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA gene. Sodiumsuccinate TTV was detected in 43.2%, 31.5%, and 41.4% of first trimester, third trimester, and postpartum samples, respectively. The viral titer was higher in postpartum than in the first (p = 0.0018) or third (p = 0.0013) trimester. The mean gestational age at delivery was lower in women positive for TTV in their first trimester (p = 0.0358). In the first and third trimester, the MMP-8 level was higher if TTV was also present (p less then 0.0091). The D-lactic acid level was lower in first trimester samples if TTV was present (p = 0.0334). Lactobacillus crispatus dominance in first and third trimester samples was higher when TTV was absent (p less then 0.0033). We conclude that TTV is present in the vagina in many women with normal pregnancy outcomes and that its occurrence is associated with a lack of L. crispatus dominance, an increase in vaginal MMP-8 and a decrease in D-lactic acid.CZ415, a novel inhibitor of mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) kinase, has demonstrated anti-tumor activity in several types of cancer. However, its biological function and underlying mechanism of action in cervical cancer (CC) have not been fully studied. Two CC cell lines (Hela and Siha) were treated with increasing concentrations of CZ415. Cell viability was tested with the CCK-8 assay, cell proliferation was determined by Edu staining and the colony formation assay, and apoptosis was determined by flow cytometry and Hoechst 33342 staining. Protein expression was evaluated by western blotting. A nude mouse xenograft model was used to confirm the anti-tumor activity of CZ415 in vivo. Hematoxylin and eosin (H&amp;amp;E) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining were performed on samples of tumor tissue. Results showed that CZ415 inhibited CC cell survival in a dose- and time-dependent manner, and 100 nanomolar and 48 h were the optimal conditions. In vitro and in vivo experiments showed that treatment with CZ415 significantly inhibited spheroid formation, cell proliferation, and tumor growth. Further studies showed that the anti-cancer effects of CZ415 were due to an induction of apoptosis, which was accompanied by an upregulation of Bax and downregulation of Bcl-2 through Lipin-1. CZ415 also reduced the levels of mTOR/STAT3 expression. However, these phenotypic changes were reversed by overexpression of Lipin-1. Our results suggest that the novel mTOR inhibitor CZ415 mediates tumor malignancy via Lipin-1 and might be useful for treating CC.Cognitive impairment due to natural or surgical menopause is always associated with estrogen deficiency leading to reduced brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). Reduced BDNF levels in menopause affect neuronal maturation, survival, axonal and dendritic arborization and the maintenance of dendritic spine density. Conventional long-term estrogen replacement therapy reported causing the risk of venous thromboembolism and breast cancer. To overcome these undesirable effects, phytoestrogens have been used in menopause-induced condition without the risk of side effects. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of dietary supplementation of fenugreek seed extract (FG) either alone or in combination with choline-DHA on BDNF and dendritic arborization of pyramidal neurons in CA1 and CA3 regions of the hippocampus in ovariectomized rats. Female Wistar rats of 9-10 months old were divided into six groups as normal control (NC); ovariectomy (OVX); OVX + FG; OVX + choline-DHA; OVX + FG + choline-DHA; and OVX + estradiol. All the groups, except NC, were ovariectomized. After 2 weeks of ovariectomy, dietary supplementation was initiated for a period of 30 days. After supplementation, behavioral studies, BDNF levels and dendritic arborization were estimated. Ovariectomized (OVX) rats showed reduced BDNF levels, dendritic branching points and dendritic intersections of pyramidal neurons in CA1 and CA3 regions of the hippocampus. OVX rats supplemented with FG with choline-DHA showed significantly improved BDNF levels, dendritic branching points and dendritic intersections. These results are demonstrating that FG with choline-DHA supplementation can be an alternative for estrogen replacement therapy to modulate menopause-induced learning and memory deficits.The application of next-generation sequencing tools revealed that the cystic fibrosis respiratory tract is a polymicrobial environment. We have characterized the airway bacterial microbiota of five adult patients with cystic fibrosis during a 14-month period by 16S rRNA tag sequencing using the Illumina technology. Microbial diversity, estimated by the Shannon index, varied among patient samples collected throughout the follow-up period. The beta diversity analysis revealed that the composition of the airway microbiota was highly specific for each patient, showing little variation among the samples of each patient analyzed over time. The composition of the bacterial microbiota did not reveal any emerging pathogen predictor of pulmonary disease in cystic fibrosis or of its unfavorable clinical progress, except for unveiling the presence of anaerobic microorganisms, even without any established clinical association. Our results could potentialy help us to translate and develop strategies in response to the pathobiology of this disease, particularly because it represents an innovative approach for CF centers in Brazil.The aim of this experiment was to test the effect of yeast-fermented de-hulled rice (YDR) levels of protein-rich feed with different kinds of roughages on in vitro gas production, nutrient degradability, and rumen fermentation. The treatments were randomly assigned according to a 2 × 4 factorial arrangement in a completely randomized design (CRD). The two experimental factors were comprised of two roughages (R) (untreated rice straw (RS) and sweet grass hay (SGH)) and four ratios of roughage to yeast-fermented de-hulled rice (RYDR) (1000, 7525, 5050, and 2575). Thus, there were 8 treatment combinations. The results revealed that the interaction between R and RYDR ratios influenced on the gas production rate constant for the insoluble fraction ratio (c) (P less then  0.01). The in vitro dry mater degradability (IVDMD) was improved by SGH and RYDR ratios (P less then  0.05).       <description>&lt;p&gt;Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) arthritis is a common cause of orofacial pain with distressing symptoms. The patients most commonly females are often anxious and worried due to the typical gritty sound produced during chewing moments. In other cases there is pain followed by decreased mouth opening. Currently the treatment is not standardised though the clinicians are treating these disorders either by oral medications; splintage or by injections. Though local injection of Triamcinolone acetonide and Hyaluronic acid is an innovative therapy yet it is elusive of much research. The main aim of the present study is to evaluate the efficacy of with Triamcinolone acetonide and Hyaluronic acid in treating temporomandibular joint arthritis. The present study is a prospective non randomized clinical trial of 100 patients in a tertiary referral centre. The patients diagnosed with temporomandibular joint arthritis were treated with local infiltration of 40 mg triamcinolone acetonide along with 20 mg of hyaluronic acid; one injection every week for 4 weeks. The pre-treatment and post-treatment data was compared using student paired t test and Mann-Whitney U test. Majority of the patients showed relief in symptoms like pain (87/96) and clicking sounds (81/88) and the difference was statistically significant (p  less then  0.05). Though other symptoms like restrictive mouth opening; discomfort on lateral and medial movement were also relieved in 9/15 patients and 21/23 patients respectively however the difference was not statistically significant. We highly recommend the use of Triamcinolone acetonide and hyaluronic acid injection in TMJ arthritis as it helps in relieving pain and clicking of sound in majority of the patients. The treatment is an out-patient department procedure with almost no side effects in most of the patients. The cost effectiveness of the treatment is another benefit.[This corrects the article on p. 1 in vol. 24, PMID 32699774.]. &lt;br&gt;
 Persistent elevation of serum parathyroid hormone (PTH) despite normocalcemia have been documented in 8- 40% of patients after parathyroidectomy. We hereby report our experience from different centers across India to determine clinical significance of postoperatively elevated PTH levels and review relevant literature. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We conducted a retrospective case series study and reviewed all the patients who underwent surgery for primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) from April 2010 to January 2020. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Total of 201 patients was diagnosed as PHPT. Out of available follow-up data of 180 patients, a total of 54 patients (30%) had persistently elevated PTH (PePTH) at 1 month. Patients with PePTH were older with higher preoperative serum calcium, iPTH, alkaline phosphatase and lower serum phosphate and 25-hydroxy vitamin D3 levels. Puromycin aminonucleoside nmr Creatinine clearance was found to be significantly lower in patients with PePTH. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that preoperative 25-OH D3 concentration, creatinine clearance and iPTH are the factors influencing persistent elevation of PTH levels. Significantly lower serum calcium and higher alkaline phosphatase levels were observed in PePTH patients with preoperative 25-OH D3 levels &amp;lt;20 ng/mL. Thirty patients at 6 months, 24 patients at 1 year, 18 patients at 2 years and 9 patients at 3 years had eucalcemic PTH elevation. Nine out of 126 (7%) patients with normal initial postoperative calcium and iPTH levels developed PePTH, with none culminating into recurrent hyperparathyroidism. &lt;/p&gt;

 Disorders of sex development (DSD) are a wide range of relatively rare conditions having diverse pathophysiology. Identification of an underlying cause can help in treating any coexisting hormone deficiencies and can help with anticipating any other immediate or long-term health concerns. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;To study the clinical and biochemical profile of patients with 46 XY DSD along with androgen receptor (AR) gene mutation status in selected group of patients. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A cross-sectional study was conducted after enrolling the eligible DSD patients. Thorough elicitation of history and detailed clinical examination was done. Assays for luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, testosterone, dihydrotestosterone, androstenedione, AMH &amp;amp; Inhibin B (where indicated), and human chorionic gonadotropin stimulation were done as per protocol. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;In total, 48 patients were included in the study. Ambiguous genitalia (58.3%) followed by hypospadias (33.3%) were common presentation. Androgen biosynthetic defect were the most commonates to be studied. &lt;br&gt;
46 XY DSD is a heterogeneous group of patients with a varying age of presentation and a diverse clinical profile. Most patients are reared as males and maintained the same gender identity except in isolated cases. Diagnosis of AIS remains a clinical challenge as a definite hormonal criterion does not exist and genetic mutations in AR gene may be negative. Flanking region sequencing, whole genome sequencing, and promoter region sequencing may reveal pathogenic variants. Variations in other genes regulating AR pathway may also be candidates to be studied. &lt;br&gt;
 Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), being an aggressive disease, requires meticulous follow-up and multidisciplinary management. The clinical presentation, management, outcome of MTC varies among different populations. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;An audit was conducted to evaluate the demography, clinical presentation, management, and outcome of MTC in a tertiary care center in South India. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A retrospective analysis was conducted of data from hospital records of patients with MTC treated at our center from 2004 to 2019. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;All analyses were performed with SPSS software (version 16). &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Among the 82 patients (M 42, F 40), mean age was 42.07 years (SD 14.5), 46 were operated at our center and 36, outside. Follow-up data were not available for all patients. Median duration of the disease was 36 months and median follow-up was 28 months. Lymphnode dissection was more common (37/46) in patients operated at our center than outside operated patients (17/36) ( &lt;br&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A search was conducted at 18/10/2019 in EMBASE, PubMed (including MEDLINE) and the Web of Science Core Collection. Our inclusion criteria were studies involving women or men diagnosed with RA, older than 18 years and on DMARD therapy, with as outcome a fertility parameter. Systematic reviews, meta-analyses, case reports, case series and animal studies were excluded. Studies not in English or Dutch or published before 2004 were excluded. Quality appraisal was performed by the CASP systematic review checklist. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;After duplicate removal, 9030 references were identified. After title/abstract screening, 82 articles remained. After full text screening, 4 articles could be retained. No studies were found through backward snowb is needed to improve guidance for patients with RA with a child wish. &lt;br&gt;
 Immunopathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is not yet clearly defined. Besides known B-cell involvement, RA development and evolution involves CD4 &lt;br&gt;
 T helper cell homeostasis dysregulation. Imbalance between Th17 cells and regulatory T cells have been reported and may contribute to sustained inflammation. Since the last decade, increasing reports focused on a newly described CD4 &lt;br&gt;
 T helper cell subset, called T follicular helper (Tfh) cells, functionally distinct from other subsets due to their own property to provide help to B cells by enhancing their survival and differentiation into long-lasting antibody secreting cells. More recently, another B cell helper subset, named T peripheral helper (Tph) cells, has been specifically described in synovial tissues and blood of RA patients. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We conducted an exhaustive and careful literature search focusing our interest on T cells specialized on B cell help, Tfh cells and Tph cells, in RA pathogenesis and focused on their modulation during treatments. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A discrete-choice experiment was conducted among adult OA patients who were presented with 12 choice sets of two treatment options and asked in each to select the treatment they would prefer. Based on literature reviews, expert consultation, patient survey and expert meeting, treatment options were characterized by seven attributes improvement in pain, improvement in walking, ability to manage domestic activities, ability to manage social activities, improvement in overall energy and well-being, risk of moderate/severe side effects and impact on disease progression. Random parameters logit model was used to estimate patients' preferences and a latent class model was conducted to explore preferences classes. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;253 OA patients from seven European countries were included (74% women; mean age 71.3 years). For all seven treatment attributes, significant differences were observed between levels. Given the range of levels of each attribute, the most important treatment attribute in this group was impact on disease progression (29.5%) followed by walking improvement (17.1%) and pain improvement (16.3%). The latent class model identified two preference classes. In the first class (probability of 56%), patients valued impact of disease progression the most (39%). In the second class, walking improvement and improvement in overall energy and well-being were the most important (23%). &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Longitudinal retrospective study including patients diagnosed with axSpA receiving a tumor necrosis factor-inhibitor between January 2014 and June 2019 as a first treatment. For each visit, disease activity was determined afterwards according to the new ASDAS nomenclature (inactive, low, high and very high activity), and the physician's therapeutic decision was recorded. One area in which these disparities is most grave is that of mental health, with some studies indicating transgender and gender diverse individuals as having a 40% rate of lifetime suicide attempts and similarly high rates of depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. These rates vary further within this population, with differential rates seen across sociodemographic factors, including race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability status, education level, and income. This study explores mental health experiences across different social identities, using data from the 2018 Michigan Trans Health Survey (N = 659), a community-based participatory action research project collected in Michigan, United States, analyzed using chi-square tests of independence and logistic regressions. Findings indicate incredibly high rates of mental health concerns; 72.2% had been diagnosed with depression in their lifetime and 73.0% had been diagnosed with anxiety in their lifetime. In the past year, 49.9% had had non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) thoughts, 45.4% had suicidal thoughts, 26.3% engaged in NSSI, and 7.7% had attempted suicide. Bivariate regressions showed some nuanced experiences of rates of mental health diagnoses and experiences, such as greater odds of experiencing all mental health disparities among those with disabilities, and differential odds across gender in regard to ever having a depression diagnosis, non-suicidal self-injury thoughts and engaging in non-suicidal self-injury behavior. This indicates a need for social workers, counselors, therapists, and other human services professionals to act more intentionally and with an intersectional lens when it comes to exploring the mental health of transgender and gender diverse persons.High-intensity laser therapy (HILT) and photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) are two types of laser treatment. According to recent clinical reports, PBMT promotes wound healing after trauma or surgery. In addition, basic research has revealed that cell differentiation, proliferation, and activity and subsequent tissue activation and wound healing can be promoted. However, many points remain unclear regarding the mechanisms for wound healing induced by PBMT. Therefore, in this review, we present an example from our study of HILT and PBMT irradiation of tooth extraction wounds using two types of lasers with different characteristics (diode laser and carbon dioxide laser). Then, the effects of PBMT on the wound healing of bone tissues are reviewed from histological, biochemical, and cytological perspectives on the basis of our own study of the extraction socket as well as studies by other researchers. Furthermore, we consider the feasibility of treatment in which PBMT irradiation is applied to stem cells including dental pulp stem cells, the theme of this Special Issue, and we discuss research that has been reported on its effect.Low-density polyethylene composites containing different sizes of calcium oxide (CaO) nanoparticles were obtained by melt mixing. The CaO nanoparticles were synthesized by either the sol-gel or sonication methods, obtaining two different sizes ca. 55 nm and 25 nm. These nanoparticles were used either as-synthesized or were modified organically on the surface with oleic acid (Mod-CaO), at concentrations of 3, 5, and 10 wt% in the polymer. The Mod-CaO nanoparticles of 25 nm can act as nucleating agents, increasing the polymer's crystallinity. The Young's Modulus increased with the Mod-CaO nanoparticles, rendering higher reinforcement effects with an increase as high as 36%. The reduction in Escherichia coli bacteria in the nanocomposites increased with the amount of CaO nanoparticles, the size reduction, and the surface modification. The highest antimicrobial behavior was found in the composites with a Mod-CaO of 25 nm, presenting a reduction of 99.99%. This strong antimicrobial effect can be associated with the release of the Ca2+ from the composites, as studied for the composite with 10 wt% nanoparticles. The ion release was dependent on the size of the nanoparticles and their surface modification. These findings show that CaO nanoparticles are an excellent alternative as an antimicrobial filler in polymer nanocomposites to be applied for food packaging or medical devices.Zika virus (ZIKV) was identified in 1947 in the Zika forest of Uganda and it has emerged recently as a global health threat, with recurring outbreaks and its associations with congenital microcephaly through maternal fetal transmission and Guillain-Barré syndrome.
