My first technical task for internship

Hi,

Today, I want to write about my first task as a frontend developer intern.

This happened three months after I seriously started learning to code, and for the first time, I was very scared. When I received a document with tasks to complete, my initial reaction was, “I can’t do this,” and “There are too many things to do.” However, after two days, I sat down at the computer, opened the technical document and Visual Studio Code, and began coding.

The project was a banking app that displayed incoming and outgoing transfers as well as the balance. Within two days, I had created a visual concept of the app, including every button, registration and login form, all with Responsive Design, using minimal code.

The problems began when I started working on the website: user registration (saving data), logging in (retrieving data), and probably the biggest challenge (displaying data from the API using Chart.js). Considering that I was just starting with Javascript, I had to accelerate my learning.

In the end, I attempted to complete all tasks for the application. Although I didn’t pass the first step, I learned a lot while working on the banking app.

Reflecting on my frontend learning journey, I decided to change my approach. Now, after gaining basic knowledge on a topic, before starting to code, I try to find a project with challenges that I haven’t yet encountered.

And remember…

Code every day :)

IT Adventure...

Hi,

Today, I want to share more about my coding learning adventure.

When I decided to pursue frontend development, I began searching for learning materials. What came next? YouTube tutorials, Udemy courses, or perhaps buying a bootcamp? None of those option suited me.

I chose to teach myself, seeking out good learning resources online and diving into coding.

I was fortunate to have a friend in the frontend field who recommended a valuable resource: roadmap.sh. When I visited the page, I was initially overwhelmed by the abundance of information. Topics like "How the internet works", "HTML - semantic tags", "CSS" and "Javascript" seemed daunting. But I told myself, "You can do it."

My first project didn't turn out great, and I felt accomplished even when I managed to create basic elements like
<h1>, <h2>, <p>
, etc. I remember stumbling upon a webpage that offered free courses on HTML and CSS (unfortunately, I can't recall the URL).

To enhance my coding skills, I used mobile apps like Sololearn and Mimo. This was particularly beneficial at the beginning, as I could code on my phone while riding the bus or during breaks at my other job. I also frequently referred to resources like w3schools.

However, the most crucial platform for my coding journey was freecodecamp.org. It's an excellent resource for anyone starting their coding journey, offering a wide range of courses, blogs, forums, and YouTube videos. I often return to this website to see what's new and what more I can learn.

How my IT adventure started

Hello All,

I decided to create this post because I want to break into writing and improve my English (I'm from Poland).

I had been thinking about writing here for a long time, but as is usually the case with me, I was afraid of the opinions of others.

Why? I don't know.

But today, I decided to break through and share with you my story about my beginnings in IT.

So let's get started.

It was in 2021, during the COVID pandemic. I was working in education and thinking about changing my life. The first thing that came to mind was IT because I have always been passionate about computers and how they work, etc.

In an attempt to find my place in IT, cybersecurity was my first thought. Maybe it was because I had watched too much "Mr. Robot." So, I decided to take an introductory course.

For two weeks, I had meetings, tasks, gained a lot of knowledge, worked with virtual machines, hacked websites, and played games.

After two weeks, we had an exam, and I passed with a score of 73% (I don't remember the exact number, but it was more than 70%).

However, it wasn't for me. I tried learning a lot of programming languages and watched webinars about Python, C#, Java, Kotlin...

I was searching for my place for a year.

But I finally decided to try to become a Frontend Developer.

In 2022, I quit my job and focused on becoming a frontend developer. I did this without purchasing courses or bootcamps, as they say, everything you want is available on the internet.

So, I started learning...
