How to Validate and Format JSON in Seconds

JSON is everywhere — APIs, configs, data exports — and one missing comma can break everything. Manually scanning braces is a waste of time. Here's the fast workflow:

 1. Paste your JSON

Copy the raw text from your API response, log file, or editor and paste it into a formatter. No need to clean it up first.

 2. Validate

Hit validate. A good tool doesn't just say "invalid" — it tells you the exact line and column of the error. The most common culprits: trailing commas, single quotes instead of double quotes, and unescaped line breaks inside strings.

 3. Format or minify

Use formatted (indented) output when you're reading or debugging, and minified output when you're sending it over the wire or pasting it into a config where size matters.

Try it now — free, no sign-up:

Open JSON Formatter →

 Beyond formatting: convert JSON

Sometimes you don't need prettier JSON — you need a different format. The formatter includes one-click converters: JSON to XML (for legacy APIs and SOAP services), JSON to CSV (open arrays of objects straight in Excel or Google Sheets), JSON to YAML (for Kubernetes and CI configs), and JSON to escaped string (to embed JSON inside code). You can also upload a
.json
file directly, pick your indentation (2/3/4 spaces or tabs), enable auto-format as you type, and download the result.

Try the JSON Formatter

Keep reading:

Try it free: JSON Formatter — no sign-up, no uploads, everything runs in your browser.

Base64 Encoding Explained: Encode and Decode in Seconds

You'll find Base64 everywhere: API tokens, embedded images, email attachments, auth headers. It's not encryption — it's just a way to represent binary data as plain ASCII text so it survives systems that only handle text.

 When do you need it?

Debugging APIs — decode a token to see what's inside the payload.

Embedding data — turn a small image into a data URI for your HTML.

Quick sharing — encode a snippet so special characters don't break in transit.

 How to do it fast

Paste your text, hit Encode, and copy the result. To reverse it, paste Base64 and hit Decode. If the input isn't valid Base64, you'll get a clear error instead of garbage output.

Try it now — free, no sign-up:

Open Base64 Tool →

Keep reading:

Try it free: Base64 Encoder — no sign-up, no uploads, everything runs in your browser.

How to Compress Images Without Losing Quality

Images are usually the heaviest part of a web page. Compressing them is the single fastest way to speed up your site — and it takes seconds.

 The 80% quality rule

For JPEG and WebP, 80% quality is the sweet spot: file size drops 60–80% versus the original, and the difference is invisible to the human eye in almost all cases. Only go lower for thumbnails or decorative backgrounds.

 JPEG vs. WebP vs. PNG

WebP — smallest files, great quality. Supported by all modern browsers. Best default choice.

JPEG — universal compatibility. Use it when you need maximum support (email, old systems).

PNG — only for images that need transparency or pixel-perfect sharpness (logos, screenshots with text).

 Resize before you compress

A 4000px photo displayed at 800px is wasted weight. Set a max width matching your actual display size first, then compress — the savings multiply.

Compress your images now — private, free:

Open Image Compressor →

Keep reading:

JPEG vs PNG vs WebP vs SVG: Which Image Format Should You Use?

Picking the wrong image format can triple your page weight for zero visual gain. Here is the practical breakdown.

 JPEG — photos

Lossy compression designed for photographs. Great size-to-quality ratio for complex images with gradients. Bad for text, logos, and anything needing transparency.

 PNG — graphics with transparency

Lossless, supports transparency. Perfect for logos, screenshots, and UI elements. Files are much larger than JPEG for photos — never use PNG for photography.

 WebP — the modern default

Google's format: ~30% smaller than JPEG at the same quality, supports transparency and animation. Supported by all modern browsers. When in doubt, ship WebP.

 SVG — logos and icons

Vector, infinitely scalable, tiny for simple graphics. Ideal for logos and icons. Useless for photos.

 The 10-second decision tree

Photo → WebP (or JPEG). Needs transparency → WebP or PNG. Logo/icon → SVG. Screenshot with text → PNG.

Convert and compress your images free — right in your browser:

Open the tool →

AVIF Explained: Smaller Images, Same Quality — Should You Switch?

Images are usually the heaviest part of any web page, and the format you choose decides how heavy. AVIF is the newest image format on the block, built on the AV1 video codec — and for photos it produces noticeably smaller files than JPEG or WebP at the same visual quality.

 Where AVIF wins

Photographs and detailed images. AVIF keeps fine detail and smooth gradients while cutting file size, which means faster page loads and less data for your visitors — especially on mobile connections. All major browsers have supported AVIF for a while now, so the compatibility worry that held it back is mostly gone.

 Where it doesn't (yet)

Simple graphics: for logos, icons, and illustrations, SVG is still the right tool — it's resolution-independent and usually lighter. Encoding AVIF is also slower than JPEG or WebP, so it's not the best pick if you generate thousands of images on the fly. And some older design tools still can't open AVIF files, which can slow down a team workflow.

 So should you switch?

For photos on the web: yes, if your workflow supports it. For everything else, keep the old rules: SVG for graphics, PNG when you need transparency on simple images, and WebP as the safe default when AVIF isn't available. The format matters less than the habit: always compress before you publish.

Shrink your images for the web — free, private:

Open Image Converter →

AVIF won't replace every format, but for photos it is the best quality-per-byte you can ship today. Convert your heaviest images first — hero images and galleries — and you'll feel the difference on every load.

Keep reading:

JPEG vs PNG vs WebP vs SVG: Which Format Should You Use?

How to Generate a Strong Password (And Why Yours Probably Isn't)

"Password123!" takes a computer less than a second to crack. A random 20-character password takes centuries. The difference isn't memorability — it's entropy, the measure of randomness.

 What makes a password strong?

Length beats complexity. Every extra character multiplies the combinations exponentially.

Randomness beats patterns. Human brains are predictable; use a generator, not your pet's name.

Uniqueness beats reuse. One breach shouldn't open all your accounts. Use a different password everywhere.

 The 80-bit rule

Aim for at least 80 bits of entropy — roughly 13 random characters mixing letters, numbers, and symbols. Our generator shows you the exact entropy and estimated crack time for every password it creates.

Generate yours now — private, free:

Open Password Generator →

Passkeys Explained: The Password Replacement That Logs You In With Your Face or Fingerprint

Passwords were designed for a world where people had five logins. Today most of us have dozens, and passwords keep failing in the same three ways: they get reused, they get phished, and they get leaked in data breaches. Passkeys fix all three at once — by getting rid of the password entirely.

 What a passkey actually is

A passkey is a pair of cryptographic keys. When you create one, your device generates a private key that never leaves the device, and sends only the public key to the website. The public key is useless on its own — it can verify, never log in. To sign in, you approve with your fingerprint, your face, or your device PIN. There is nothing to type, nothing to remember, and nothing to write on a sticky note.

 Why phishing stops working

Phishing works because a password is a secret you can be tricked into handing over. A passkey can't be handed over: it is bound to the real website, so a fake login page simply can't use it. And because every site gets a different key pair, one breach doesn't cascade into all your other accounts the way a reused password does.

What happens if you lose your phone?

This is the question everyone asks, and it has a good answer: passkeys sync through your cloud account — iCloud Keychain on Apple devices, Google Password Manager on Android and Chrome. Get a new phone, sign into the same cloud account, and your passkeys come with you. That makes your cloud account itself the thing to protect: give it a strong password and turn on two-factor authentication.

 Where passkeys don't work yet

Not every website offers passkeys. Many major platforms — Google, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon — already do, and more sites add them every month, but smaller sites are still catching up. For every account that still asks for a password, the old rule stands: unique, long, and random — never reused.

Still need a password somewhere? Generate a strong one:

Open Password Generator →

Passkeys won't replace every password overnight, but the direction is clear: the safest login is the one where there is nothing to steal. Next time a site offers to create a passkey, say yes — and keep a strong password generator handy for the sites that haven't caught up yet.

Keep reading:

MP3 is small and convenient. WAV is big and editable. They're built for different jobs — here's how to pick and how to convert between them.

 MP3: for listening and sharing

MP3 compresses audio by throwing away details your ears (mostly) can't hear. A 3-minute song is ~3 MB. Perfect for publishing, streaming, and sending.

 WAV: for editing

WAV (PCM) stores every sample with zero compression. That same song is ~30 MB — but you can cut, mix, and process it with no quality loss. Always edit in WAV, then export the final version to MP3 for distribution.

 How to convert (and trim)

Drop your MP3 or OGG file, optionally set trim start/end times to cut silence or unwanted parts, hit Convert to WAV, and download the PCM file. It happens entirely in your browser — your audio is never uploaded anywhere.

Convert your audio now — private, free:

Open Audio Converter →

 Beyond conversion: built-in effects

Unlike server-based converters, our tool edits audio locally in your browser — no upload, no waiting. After decoding you can apply fade in / fade out (in seconds), reverse the audio, normalize the volume to peak level, convert between mono and stereo, and resample (8000–48000 Hz). Combined with the trim controls, it's a free mini audio editor for quick jobs: cleaning voice recordings, preparing samples, or fixing levels before editing.

Try the Audio Converter

Load from URL, tag your files

You can also load audio straight from a URL (no download needed first), and fill in track info — title, artist, album, year, genre, comment — which is embedded into the WAV file's metadata so players and editors recognize it.

Try the Audio Converter

Audio Bitrate Explained: 64 vs 128 vs 320 kbps

Bitrate is the amount of audio data processed per second, measured in kilobits per second (kbps). Higher bitrate means more detail kept — and a bigger file. Here is what each tier actually sounds like and when to use it.

 64 kbps — economy

Good enough for voice: podcasts, audiobooks, phone calls. Music at 64 kbps sounds flat and harsh — you will hear artifacts in cymbals and bass. Use it when file size matters more than fidelity.

 128 kbps — standard

The classic MP3 default. Fine for casual listening on earbuds or laptop speakers. Most people cannot tell 128 kbps apart from higher rates on cheap gear — but on good headphones, the difference is audible.

 192 kbps — good

The point where compression artifacts become hard to notice for most listeners. A solid choice for music libraries when you want quality without huge files.

 320 kbps — best (for MP3)

The maximum MP3 bitrate and the sweet spot for music distribution. Transparent to nearly all listeners. If you distribute MP3s, ship 320 kbps.

 What about WAV?

WAV is uncompressed, so it has no bitrate setting — its effective bitrate comes from bit depth × sample rate × channels. A CD-quality WAV (16-bit, 44.1 kHz, stereo) runs at about 1411 kbps. That is why you always edit in WAV and only compress to MP3 at the end.

Check your file's real specs — free, private, in your browser:

Open the tool →

 Quick rule of thumb

Voice only → 64–128 kbps. Music streaming → 192–320 kbps. Editing and archiving → WAV, always.

Keep reading:

How to Trim Audio in Your Browser (No App Needed)

Most audio edits are not ambitious: cut the silence at the start, drop a mistake in the middle, or isolate a 30-second clip. You don't need a studio app for that — trimming takes seconds in a browser, and your file never has to leave your device.

Set a start and an end — that's the whole technique

Trimming means choosing where the audio begins and where it ends. Everything outside that range is discarded. Drop your MP3 or OGG file, set the start and end times, and export. If you only need a clip for a video, a podcast quote, or a ringtone, this one move covers most jobs.

WAV for editing, MP3 for sharing

Export as WAV if you plan to keep editing — it loses nothing. Export as MP3 when the clip is final and you want a small file to send or publish. The rule is the same as with any audio work: edit in the lossless format, distribute in the compressed one.

 Two habits that save you

First, keep a copy of the original before you cut — you can't un-trim a file you already overwrote. Second, listen to the edges of your cut: a clip that starts or ends mid-word sounds broken, so leave a fraction of a second of breathing room on both sides.

Trim your audio now — private, free:

Open Audio Converter →

Trimming is the 80/20 of audio editing: one simple move that handles silence, mistakes, and clips. Do it in the browser, keep your original safe, and export in the format that matches the job.

Keep reading:

SaaS ROI: Know Your ROAS Before Spending on Ads

Most SaaS founders launch ad campaigns on gut feeling. Four numbers tell you in advance whether the math works:

 1. CAC (Customer Acquisition Cost)

Ad spend ÷ customers acquired. If you spend $1,000 and get 40 customers, your CAC is $25.

 2. Gross profit per customer

Average revenue per customer × gross margin. At $79 ARPC and 80% margin, each customer is worth $63.20 in gross profit.

 3. ROAS and ROI

ROAS = revenue ÷ ad spend. ROI = (gross profit − ad spend) ÷ ad spend. Positive ROI means the campaign pays for itself — everything above is growth.

 4. Break-even point

Ad spend ÷ gross profit per customer = the number of customers you need to not lose money. In our example: $1,000 ÷ $63.20 ≈ 16 customers.

Run your own numbers — free:

Open ROI Calculator →

Every developer has a bookmark folder of tiny utilities that save five minutes, ten times a day. These are the ones worth keeping — all free, no sign-up, running entirely in your browser so your data never leaves your machine.

 1. JSON Formatter & Validator

Paste messy JSON, get it formatted, validated, and converted to XML, CSV, or YAML. The plain-English error explainer tells you exactly what is wrong with invalid JSON.

 2. Base64 Encoder / Decoder

Encode text and files to Base64 or decode them back — for data URIs, API payloads, and auth headers.

 3. Password Generator

Generate strong passwords with a live entropy meter and crack-time estimate. Shows why length beats complexity.

 4. Image Converter & Compressor

Convert between JPG, PNG, and WebP, compress, and resize — including SVG to PNG. Essential before shipping images to production.

 5. Audio Converter

Convert MP3 and OGG to WAV with trim, fade, normalize, and reverse — a mini audio editor that runs 100% locally.

 6. SaaS ROI Calculator

ROI, ROAS, CAC, and break-even in one screen. Know if a campaign will make money before you spend a dollar on ads.

7–10. Your terminal, your docs, your linter, your notes

The rest of the top 10 is your own setup — but the six above cover the daily web chores that break your flow. Bookmark them once, use them forever.

Try all six tools now — free, private, no sign-up:

Open the tool →
