a16z Top 100 exits aren't the same as dying traffic

I keep seeing a16z's Gen AI Top 100 churn treated like a death list. We lined the 7th edition up against the 6th (web visits / mobile MAU / first-revenue) and a chunk of the "exits" aren't that story.

Renames first. Freepik→Magnific, NotebookLM→Gemini Notebook, and similar. Those aren't turnover. A lot of the NSFW-primary drops in the 7th also read more like a list-method change than demand falling off a cliff.

Then the second ruler. Seats and spend still don't tell me whether a generator site is actually gaining visits month to month. So we put visit MoM next to the roster.

How do you use (or ignore) these lists when ranking what still has pull?

Notes + method:

https://quietlionreport.com/en/insights/a16z-gen-ai-consumer-apps-7th-churn-2026

(Traffic research only — not investment advice. Quiet Lion publishes monthly AIGC visit/growth rankings and open notes.)
