Company merch planning often starts with a simple request:

The difficult part comes next: finding suitable products, checking minimum order quantities, comparing prices at the actual quantity, validating delivery timing, and turning the result into something that can move into production.

The SoMerch integration for ChatGPT brings that planning workflow into the ChatGPT conversation.

It lets teams search the live SoMerch catalog, compare real products, build merch concepts around a budget and deadline, and move to a formal quote through a controlled confirmation flow.

What the integration can do

With SoMerch available in ChatGPT, you can:

search published SoMerch products using natural-language requirements;
compare products using quantity-aware pricing;
review MOQ, lead time, colours, sustainability information and product links;
open full details for a specific product;
build one recommended merch concept or several alternatives;
work with per-person or total project budgets;
check whether a requested delivery date is realistic;
reopen a recently generated plan; and
request a formal quote after reviewing and confirming the information that will be submitted.

Typical use cases include employee onboarding kits, employee gifts, client gifts, conference merchandise and event giveaways.

For example:

Plan welcome kits for 150 employees in Germany and France under €60 per person.

Find sustainable client gifts under €30, with no apparel.

Build three merch options for a 500-person conference with a €10,000 budget.

Product discovery and merch planning are planning workflows. They do not place a paid ecommerce order or transfer money. Final commercial pricing and production details are confirmed through the SoMerch quote process.

Install SoMerch in ChatGPT

Open the public SoMerch plugin page:

Select Install plugin, review the connection dialog, and choose Connect.

After the connection succeeds, select Try in chat.

You can then describe the project directly in natural language. You do not need to know product IDs, category IDs, internal references or API fields.

Search real merchandise from natural language

SoMerch can search the live merchandise catalog using criteria such as:

product type;
product name or brand;
quantity;
maximum estimated unit price;
category or collection;
sustainability preference;
apparel exclusion; and
presentation language.

For example:

Find reusable water bottles for 100 employees under €25 each.

When quantity is included, SoMerch can use the applicable price tier for that quantity when evaluating the request.

That matters because a catalog “starting from” price may apply only at a much larger volume. A product that appears to start below the budget is not automatically treated as being within budget for a smaller order.

Search results can show the product image, product name, applicable or starting price, MOQ, lead time, SKU, relevant colours and a link to the product.

Open full product details

The initial product search is intentionally concise.

If an item looks relevant, you can ask for its complete details:

Show me the full details for the Dopper Original, including pricing tiers, colours, MOQ, branding and lead time.

The detailed response can include:

product name and SKU;
catalog description;
full quantity price ladder;
MOQ;
available variants and colours;
branding methods;
estimated lead time;
sustainability information;
materials or construction information where published; and
the live SoMerch product link.

This remains catalog information rather than a final production quote. Availability, decoration, packaging, shipping and other commercial details are confirmed through the quote process.

Build a merch plan instead of researching products one by one

For broader projects, the user can describe the goal rather than searching for individual items.

A project brief can include:

goal or occasion;
audience;
quantity;
budget per recipient;
total budget;
deadline;
categories or collections;
preferred colours;
sustainability requirements;
apparel exclusions;
branding requirements; and
recipient markets.

By default, SoMerch can return a recommended concept.

If the user explicitly asks to compare several directions, it can return multiple alternatives.

For example:

Build three merch options for a 500-person conference with a €10,000 budget.

Each plan is built from published SoMerch products.

The plan can include:

selected products;
product images;
quantity-aware unit pricing;
quantity per item;
MOQ handling;
product subtotal;
total required spend;
effective cost per recipient;
exclusions;
production timeline;
delivery feasibility;
assumptions;
warnings; and
a SoMerch plan reference.

A generated plan is still a planning snapshot. It does not create a customer order, production job or quote request.

Quantity-aware pricing and MOQ

Quantity is important in corporate merchandise because the effective unit price often changes with volume.

If a team is planning 150 welcome kits, the integration can evaluate the price tier applicable to 150 units instead of relying only on the lowest catalog starting price.

MOQ is handled separately.

If a product has a minimum order quantity above the number of recipients, the plan can account for the effective purchase quantity and any surplus units rather than treating the requested quantity as purchasable below MOQ.

A plan can work with either:

a per-recipient budget; or
a total project budget.

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, the displayed merchandise subtotal may exclude branding, packaging, shipping and taxes.

Check whether the deadline is realistic

A product combination that fits the budget is not useful if it cannot arrive in time.

When the user supplies a deadline, SoMerch can evaluate delivery feasibility using stages such as:

artwork and proofing;
production;
decoration or personalization;
shipping; and
a safety buffer.

The plan can report required business days, available business days, timing risk, the latest safe order date and—when the requested date cannot be met—the earliest achievable delivery.

If a generated concept cannot meet the requested deadline, the integration should surface that constraint instead of inventing a feasible date.

Supported recipient markets

The current SoMerch fulfillment scope covers the 27 EU member states plus Switzerland.

This is based on the recipient destination, not necessarily the headquarters of the company using the integration.

A company outside Europe can therefore use the workflow when the merchandise recipients are in supported European markets.

If all requested destinations are outside the current fulfillment area, the planner should return an unsupported-market result instead of producing delivery assumptions for unsupported destinations.

For a mixed request, SoMerch can scope the plan to supported markets while identifying destinations outside the current coverage.

Reopen a recent plan

Every generated SoMerch plan receives a short reference such as:

SM-7QK4-8P2

The plan is stored temporarily, allowing the same plan to be reopened instead of regenerated.

For example:

Show me that plan again.

This preserves the products, pricing, option structure and feasibility information from that planning snapshot.

Plan snapshots are temporary and currently expire after approximately 24 hours.

Moving from planning to a formal quote

When a user is satisfied with a plan, they can ask for a formal quote.

For example:

I want a formal quote for the recommended option.

A formal request requires business information such as:

company name;
contact name;
business email; and
explicit acceptance of the SoMerch terms and privacy policy.

Optional details can include a phone number, target budget, deadline and notes.

Permission before sharing contact data

Before contact information is shared with SoMerch, ChatGPT can display a permission dialog describing the data-sharing action.

The user can review the information before allowing it.

Two-step confirmation before submission

The SoMerch quote workflow uses two steps.

On the first quote call:

no quote request is created;
SoMerch returns a preview of what would be submitted;
a single-use confirmation token is generated; and
ChatGPT asks the user to confirm the preview.

Only after explicit confirmation can the second call submit the same reviewed payload.

That confirmed call can create the formal quote request and notify the SoMerch team.

The quote request does not mean a payment has been made or production has automatically started. Product availability, branding, packaging, shipping and final commercial pricing are reviewed through the formal quote process.

What data is shared?

The information shared depends on the task.

For a product search, this can include search terms, categories, quantity, price limit, sustainability requirements, colour preferences, apparel exclusions and presentation language. Contact details are not required.

For a merch plan, it can include the project goal, audience, quantity, budget, recipient markets, deadline, product preferences, sustainability preferences, branding requirements and planning assumptions.

Generating a plan does not itself create a customer, order or quote request.

For a formal quote request, the data may also include company and contact details, the selected plan option, quantity, target budget, deadline, notes, terms acceptance and optional marketing consent.

SoMerch requires explicit confirmation before the quote request is finally created.
