Week three of coding school. Have you ever been internet surfing and never even looked at the websites you were going to? Or even noticed them? Well I haven’t until just recently. We are starting our first big project this week in class. Building our personal websites. I was like this is going to be easy I will just click here and copy paste there and done. Um…. Boy was I wrong. Till this week I never knew was HTML was or CSS. SO I have decided to share a few things about the first days of website development.
We are using HTML. HTML is a markup language which is used by the browser to manipulate text, images and other content to display it in required format. At first I was a little intimidated and then realized I had been using it all along. So below are the 5 points of our element.

Opening tag

Closing tag

The content

The element

By telling our compnter how to do this we are creating the format of how people will view your website. Now CSS ( Cascading style sheets)is what makes your website look awesome and also where you can add all your personal touches. I am looking forward to seeing my finished product.

         OVERCOMING OBSTACLES

I have come a long way from where I used to be. I used to let every small thing get to me and ruin my whole day and then that day turned into 2 and then a whole week would go by and I would have nothing accomplished, and I seemed to somehow make things worse. Everyone has their own struggle but most people have a hard time to survive or thrive when they face a challenge. Running away from a challenge or an obstacle is the worst thing anyone could do. No matter how much we want to run away from problems or challenges in our lives, we have no choice but to face our problems in the face and fight our demons.
I am new to the Tech world and so far everyday there a new challenge. I never thought I would be sitting here self learning a new career. So when I start getting frustrated when I can figure something out here are a few things I have tried to get me to the next step.

Changing my attitude or perception of the problem.

You have to remind yourself that you are NEW… Don’t turn a molehill
into a mountain

Stay positive and don’t beat yourself up

4.Stop comparing your work with someone else. WE ARE ALL INDIVIDUALS!!

So just remember take it one day at a time and when you are struggling use you resources, and don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Week One

I’m one week down and I have fifteen more to go. I just finished my first week at CTRL+SHIFT coding program. I am new to the tech world and didn’t quite know what to expect. Coming into this I thought someone would teach me what I needed to know and send me out to be successful. Come to find out that teacher was going to be me. Everyday new challenges arise. But with the tools and resources that were provided I can call myself a “coder.” The biggest challenge so far for me is staying focused. With a million things running through my mind and life happening outside of class, I find my mind starts to wonder off after ten minutes of reading. Trello has been introduced to me as a tool to stay organized and on track. I haven’t fully used it but it is now my goal. The best tool yet has been Google it helped me break down and learn to search for exactly what I was looking for. Building my website was a personal accomplishment because it was my first project I learned on my own. So going into week two when I get discouraged I will remember why I am here. My son and our future. This program will open doors to being financially stable and give me the independence that I have been looking for.
