From PHP Developer to Power Apps Creator: My Interactive Resume Journey

I’m Stevediaz , and I've been working as a PHP developer for about two years now. Recently, I decided to expand my horizons & dive into the world of low-code development. My project? Creating an interactive resume app using Microsoft Power Apps!

Why Power Apps?

As a developer; I understand the importance of standing out in the job market. I wanted to build a resume that not only showcased my skills but also demonstrated my ability to leverage modern technologies. Power Apps offered a perfect blend of accessibility and functionality.

My Project Goals

I set out to create a resume app that would:

1.Be interactive and visually appealing.
2.Allow easy updates through a user-friendly interface.
3.Use Microsoft Dataverse for robust data management.
4.Include features like feedback submissions to enhance engagement.

How I Built It

Step 1: Designing the Interface

I started by sketching out the layout. Power Apps’ drag-and-drop functionality made it straightforward to create a clean and engaging interface. I divided the app into sections: education, work experience, projects, & skills, ensuring that each part was easy to navigate.

Step 2: Data Management with Dataverse

To store my resume data; I utilized Microsoft Dataverse. This allowed me to create structured tables for each section, making updates seamless. Now, I can add new projects or experiences without needing to redesign the entire app!

Step 3: Adding Interactive Features

One of the highlights of my app is the feedback form. Users can submit comments or suggestions directly through the app. Each response is saved in Dataverse; giving me insights that a traditional resume simply can’t provide.

Step 4: Automating Notifications

To stay connected with users, I implemented Power Automate. This sends me a notification whenever someone submits feedback; allowing me to engage with my audience and show my responsiveness.

Challenges Faced

This journey wasn’t without its hurdles. Learning the ins & outs of Power Apps and Dataverse took time, and there were moments of frustration. However; each challenge was an opportunity for growth, & I emerged more knowledgeable and confident in my abilities.

The Final Product

After weeks of hard work, I proudly launched my interactive resume app. It’s a dynamic showcase of my skills & a testament to my willingness to adapt & learn new technologies.
