I’m looking for a Founding Full-Stack Engineer to join me in building Teyro.

And I want to be very clear about what this is.

This is going to be hard.

Teyro is not another small side project. Teeyro is Duolingo, duolingo next competitor

We’re building a learning platform designed to make practical skills feel as engaging, interactive, and habit-forming as the products people already love using every day.

Our ambition is simple to say, but very difficult to execute:

Build the Duolingo for skills.

And we're still early enough that the people who join now will have a real influence on what Teyro becomes.

What you'll be doing

You'll work directly with me, the founder, and take real ownership of the product.

You'll work across:

Frontend
Backend
APIs
Databases
Product features
Performance
Architecture
Integrations
Deployment and debugging
And whatever unexpected engineering problem shows up next

You won't just receive tickets and disappear for the day.

You'll be expected to understand why we're building something, not just what needs to be coded.

The reality of joining this early

There won't always be a perfect specification.

Sometimes you'll get a problem instead of a solution.

Sometimes you'll build something and we'll realize it isn't good enough.

Sometimes we'll have to move quickly.

Sometimes you'll need to investigate something you've never worked with before.

Sometimes you'll break something.

And sometimes you'll have to stay with a difficult problem longer than you'd like.

That's startup engineering.

And honestly, that's what I'm looking for.

I don't want someone who needs to be told what to do every morning.

I want someone who sees a problem and thinks:

"I'll figure it out."

You might be a great fit if...
You have strong full-stack engineering experience
You're comfortable with modern web technologies
You have experience with technologies such as React, TypeScript, Node.js and databases
You've actually shipped products
You can work independently
You enjoy solving problems that don't have obvious answers
You care about product and user experience
You can make technical decisions without constant supervision
You communicate clearly when you're stuck
You take ownership of what you build
You genuinely enjoy difficult engineering problems

Experience working in an early-stage startup is a strong plus.

But I'm more interested in what you've actually built than the names on your CV.

What I don't want

I'm not looking for someone who simply wants:

"A remote job."

I'm not looking for someone who needs every task broken into ten smaller tasks.

I'm not looking for someone who disappears when a problem becomes difficult.

And I'm not looking for someone who joins because "startup" sounds cool on a résumé.

I want a builder.

Someone who wants to look back a few years from now and say:

"I was there when we built this."

What you get

You'll join extremely early.

You'll work directly with the founder.

You'll have meaningful ownership over what you build.

You'll have a real voice in technical decisions.

And you'll have the opportunity to help build something from the ground up rather than joining after everything has already been decided.

This is a founding-stage opportunity with equity.

It is also a serious commitment.

I'm not promising that it will be comfortable.

I'm promising that it will matter.

How we'll evaluate you

I don't care how good your résumé looks if you can't build.

The process will include a technical evaluation.

Candidates who move forward will receive a specific challenge directly from me.

I'm interested in seeing:

How you think.
How you solve problems.
How you make decisions.
How you communicate.
And whether you actually finish.

If you're looking for an easy engineering role, this probably isn't it.
