About ME

I am Swayam, I joined DEV to be a part of a good technical community, learn skills and improve myself in the time to come.
I participated in Hacktoberfest this year because I wanted to get a taste of open-source and what it's like to contribute.

 Background

Yup, I was brand new to open-source this year, although I did coding in general.
I wanted to participate in Hacktoberfest to have fun and learn at the same time.

 Progress

I've successfully completed 4 pull requests though I struggled during the initial use of Git and GitHub, but after learning how it works, it went really great.

 Contributions

First I made a contribution to a guy who was working on a book on ML.
https://github.com/Vatsalparsaniya/ML_Knowledge/pull/16
Then, I solved two problem statements given by TwoWaits
https://github.com/twowaits/make-pull-request/pull/245
https://github.com/twowaits/make-pull-request/pull/293
Then, I submitted a simple betting game I created using basics of python.
https://github.com/keshavsingh4522/hacktoberfest2020/pull/41

 Reflections

Being a first-timer, I can say it was an amazing experience and I can't wait to dive into open-source in time to come and will surely participate in Hacktoberfest next year.
