App Store Rejection Fix Series (Part 2): Guideline 2.3.8 — App Name Mismatch
Another common App Store rejection comes under Guideline 2.3.8 — Accurate Metadata.

Press enter or click to view image in full size
iOS App Rejected Due to Name Mismatch? Here’s the Fix (2.3.8)
Let’s break it down.

 Issue Summary

Apple noticed a mismatch between:
App Store Name: Cheez Lo
Device App Name: Shopping App
This creates confusion for users after installation. screenshot attached below
Press enter or click to view image in full size

Why This Matters
Apple focuses heavily on user clarity and trust.
Become a Medium member
If users download an app named Cheez Lo but see Manamil on their phone:

They may think it’s a different app
They may delete it
It creates a poor experience
How to Fix It
You have 2 options:
Option 1: Make both names similar
App Store: Cheez Lo
Device name: Cheez Lo
Option 2: Slight variation (allowed)
App Store: Cheez Lo — Grocery Delivery
Device name: Cheez Lo

 👉 Keep them clearly related

Where to Change Device Name
iOS: Update CFBundleDisplayName in Info.plist
Apple Expectation
App name should be consistent across platform
Minor differences allowed, but no confusion

 Pro Tip

Always double-check:
App name
Subtitle
Bundle display name
Before submitting your build.
This is a small issue, but fixing it quickly can save days of rejection delay.
