You’ll Think This Challenge Is Easy… It’s Not

This is a submission for the DEV April Fools Challenge

 What I Built

I built a small interactive web challenge that looks extremely simple at first glance.

There’s no clutter.
No complex UI.
Just one goal.

Most users think they’ve figured it out within seconds.

They haven’t.

This project is designed to:

Challenge instinctive behavior

Break expected interaction patterns

Reward curiosity over assumptions

It’s not about difficulty — it’s about mindset.

 Demo

⚠️ Best experienced on desktop

 Code

https://github.com/Shakshi-Mittal-Tech/chal-tech

 How I Built It

HTML, CSS, JavaScript

Event-driven interaction logic

Subtle UI behavior designed to mislead expectations

I also used Claude AI to:

Brainstorm unconventional interaction ideas

Explore edge cases users might try

Refine how the experience unfolds

This helped turn a simple concept into something more engaging and unpredictable.

 Prize Category

Community Favorite

 Final Thoughts

The hardest part wasn’t building it.

It was designing something that feels obvious…

…but isn’t.

If you try it:

👉 What was your first instinct?
👉 Did it work?
