Inspiration

When I think about gender equity in tech, I don’t just think about inclusion I think about access.

For a long time, women have had to fight to be seen, heard, and given opportunities in the tech space. It often feels like there are invisible barriers like systems that say “access denied.”

So I decided to represent this idea using something I’m passionate about: cybersecurity and ethical hacking.

In my project, the user starts in a restricted system.

They have to attempt access, symbolizing the effort, resilience, and courage it takes to break into spaces that weren’t always built for us.

As the system runs, it simulates:

bypassing security
decrypting barriers
breaking the “glass ceiling”

And finally:

ACCESS GRANTED

This moment represents more than just entry it represents belonging, growth, and power.

The final reveal The Duchess of Hackers — is a symbol of identity, confidence, and ownership in tech.

It’s a reminder that:

Women are not just asking for space in tech…

we are building, securing, and leading it.

It felt like everyone else had it figured out… except me.

I started with backend development, trying to understand how systems work behind the scenes. Later, I explored frontend, and eventually found myself growing into full-stack development.

But I didn’t stop there.

I became curious about how systems are protected and how they can be broken. That curiosity led me into cybersecurity and ethical hacking, where I began learning how to think like both a builder and a defender.

The truth is it wasn’t a smooth journey.

Moments I doubted myself
Moments I compared my progress to others
Moments I felt like I was moving too slowly

Still, I didn’t stop.

Through learning, practice, and opportunities like Tech4Girls, PLP, I began to grow not just in skill, but in confidence.

I also discovered something powerful:

Tech is not just about coding.

With my background in digital marketing, I started helping small businesses grow — combining tech with real-world impact. That’s when everything began to make sense.

Today, I’m not just learning how to build systems —

I’m learning how to secure them, improve them, and use them to create impact.

Learn consistently: Daily or weekly practice beats cramming.

Most beginners jump into backend development without understanding the “foundation” the internet runs on — the web architecture.

Let’s break it down in simple, human language.

The Internet Starts With DNS (Your Internet Phonebook) When you type a domain like google.com, something magical happens in milliseconds.

DNS converts that human-readable name into an IP address — the real “home address” of the server.

If DNS fails or can’t resolve the name?

Boom — no website.
Because the browser doesn’t know where to send your request.

The Client Sends a Request (This Is YOU) The client is any device that needs something:

your phone
your laptop
your tablet
When you click a link or enter a URL, the client sends a request asking the server for:

a webpage
some data
an image
a file
an API response
Simple: Client asks.

The Server Receives and Processes the Request Once the server gets your request, it starts working:

✔ It checks what you’re asking for

✔ It finds the resource

✔ It prepares a response

✔ Or returns an error if something is wrong

The server’s job is simple: Client asks → Server processes.

The Server Sends a Response (The Big Return Trip) After processing, the server sends back:

the page
the data
the file
OR an error message
That’s how websites “load.”
Nothing mystical — just fast communication.

Load Balancers Keep Everything Running Smoothly Think of a load balancer like a traffic police officer for your requests.

It helps:

distribute traffic
prevent one server from overloading
reduce crashes
speed things up
keep the app available
Without load balancers, popular websites would break daily.

Application Servers Talk to Databases Most websites need data — and this is where application servers shine.

They communicate with databases using queries:

Fetch this

What Happens When DNS Can’t Resolve? If DNS can’t translate a domain to an IP:

the browser gets lost
the request can’t be routed

What I Built

I built “Night of Code & Vibes”, a Halloween-inspired landing page with a modern, techy twist.
Instead of the usual pumpkins and ghosts, I went for a dark, glowing, futuristic theme think night coding vibes, floating lights, and glowing buttons.

The goal was to capture the spirit of Halloween through creativity, animation, and interactive design, while keeping it unique and visually engaging for developers and designers alike.

I’m currently based in Ghana, and here in many African countries, we don’t usually celebrate Halloween — so this project was something completely new and exciting for me.
I decided to mix a little bit of Halloween’s mysterious mood with my own love for *technology, coding, and design.

Throughout the process, I experimented with:

CSS glow effects for the title and buttons
Floating light animations using JavaScript
A responsive layout that looks great on any screen size

What I love most is how it blends global creativity with local imagination — a Halloween feel with an African coder’s touch.
