Welcome to the world of Metaverse: Enjoy your life?

The word Metaverse comes from blending meta (meaning “beyond”) and verse (short for “universe”), hinting at a space that goes past the boundaries of the physical world. It points to a connected ecosystem of digital environments and has sparked substantial expansion in various fields such as finance, entertainment, learning, and social engagement.
The metaverse industry began its ascendance in 2024, reaching a market size of $478.7 billion and swiftly growing to approximately $580 billion in 2030, with an annual compound growth rate of 13.1%.

  Metaverse Lingo: not a GEN-Z slang ?

•Cross-Platform Compatibility – The seamless movement of digital assets, avatars, and identities across different virtual worlds without modification.

•Continuity – Uninterrupted existence of digital environments and assets, persisting independently of user activity.

• Distributed Governance – Shared control and decision-making, ensuring no single entity monopolizes the metaverse.

• NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) – Unique blockchain-based tokens that verify digital ownership and authenticity.

• Virtual Replicas – Digitally recreated versions of real-world locations, enhancing user familiarity and workflow.

• Hybrid Spaces – Blended venues combining physical and digital elements for events and social interaction.

• XR (Extended Reality) – Collective term for AR (Augmented Reality), VR (Virtual Reality), and MR (Mixed Reality) technologies.

• Web3 – The decentralized, blockchain-powered evolution of the internet, integrating digital and real-world experiences.

• DAOs (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations) – Blockchain-driven, community-managed groups with automated governance.

• Immersive Telepresence – Advanced virtual collaboration or travel using lifelike visuals and sensory tech, making remote interactions feel physically present.

  How to get into: secret password to unlock this?

• Step 1: Develop the environment! it’s easy - the initial step in mastering metaverse development is selecting your creation platform. There are several alternatives available, such as Unity, Unreal Engine, and A-Frame

• Step 2: Learn fundamentals but don’t cry! - begin by grasping the fundamentals of metaverse creation. This covers 3D modeling, textures, and animation. You’ll also want to pick up skills for building interactive features like buttons, menus, and UIs

• Step 3: Build, learn, experience! It’s fun - Once you’ve mastered the basics, it’s time to craft your first
metaverse experience. This might be a basic game or a virtual walkthrough of a museum or art exhibit. The important thing is to begin with something simple and expand gradually.

• Step 4: Someone is waiting for you! Join Community - Once you’ve mastered the basics, it’s time to craft your first metaverse experience. This might be a basic game or a virtual walkthrough of a museum or art exhibit. The important thing is to begin with something simple and expand gradually.

• Step 5: Try, Tweak, and Triumph! That’s how you win - Metaverse development thrives on testing and refining. Don’t hesitate to explore and learn from errors. With experience, you’ll recognize patterns and tips to build better virtual worlds.

  Some Hacks: Don’t tell , it’s a secret ?

The metaverse has generally sidestepped significant platform-level breaches. However, gateways connecting to these digital realms-such as Axie Infinity’s Ronin Bridge have suffered major security incidents, with $600 million taken in the largest case to date. As the metaverse expands and incorporates more Web3 domains, it becomes a more enticing objective for cybercriminals. Emphasizing robust security is essential to safeguard the future of metaverse environments.

Recognizing the soaring success of its play-to-earn title Axie Infinity, Sky Mavis shifted the game from Ethereum to its own network-a sidechain dubbed the Ronin network-to lower transaction costs. Players transferred assets between this sidechain and Ethereum’s mainnet using the Ronin Bridge. As more people jump into the metaverse and stash valuable assets there, it’s only a matter of time before hackers come knocking. Meta’s even offering up to $300,000 to friendly hackers for poking holes in its AR headsets-talk about putting your money where your bugs are! If metaverse platforms want to survive making security their top most priority.

  Opportunities: Don’t worry you are going to be millionaire?

• Game Development – Create immersive VR/AR experiences. Leverage next-generation VR headsets (e.g., Meta Quest 4, PlayStation VR. Integrate real-time rendering engine to produce stunning, realistic graphics and smooth animations

• Blockchain Integration – Build NFT marketplaces and smart contracts. Earn income through transaction fees, listing fees, premium features, and advertising. Focus on specific niches-like gaming, collectibles.

• AI-driven Worlds – Enhance metaverse interactions with AI chatbots and NPCs. Engage in fluid, human-like conversations, adjusting their responses based on player choices and emotional cues. Detecting cheating, toxic behavior, or conflicts and responding in real time.

• Virtual Real Estate – Develop and sell virtual land and spaces. Renting out virtual land or developed spaces can provide a steady income stream. Companies like Nike and Gucci have already launched immersive shopping experiences in the metaverse.

• Cross-Platform Experiences – Connect mobile, web, and VR applications. Advanced cross-platform architecture supports millions of concurrent users while maintaining stable performance. Implementing strong encryption, authentication, and access controls protects user data and builds trust.

  Grow up: It’s Not Just for Meme Lords!

The metaverse remains in a dynamic state of growth, presenting developers with a unique chance to influence its direction. Whether you specialize in game design, blockchain technology, or artificial intelligence, this is the perfect moment to immerse yourself in metaverse creation. By getting involved now, you can help define the standards, build innovative experiences, and leave your mark on this rapidly expanding digital frontier.

The metaverse is here, and it’s not only transforming how we see the world but how we participate in it – from the factory floor to the meeting room - Satya Nadella,
Cross-Origin Resource Sharing

What is (CORS) Cross-Origin Resource Sharing ?
In simple words, is a mechanism for integrating applications.For example, your application may use your browser to pull videos from a video platform API, use fonts from a public font library, or display weather data from a national weather database. CORS allows the client browser to check with the third-party servers if the request is authorized before any data transfers.

What does "other-domain" means?
means the URL being accessed differs from the location that the JavaScript is running from, by having:

a different scheme (HTTP or HTTPS)

a different domain

a different port

Why do we need CORS?
This is a worst-case scenario, where everything is wide open. But it still exemplifies what a CORS attack looks like. In fact, in 2016, Facebook was found to be vulnerable to such a CORS attack.

One domain + port combination cannot read the response to a request from
a different domain + port combination.

How to allow CORS in react.js?

Using
proxy
in
package.json
file.

Add the API part to
package.json
file.

Then make request :-

React.useEffect(() => {
    axios
        .get('api/profile/')
        .then(function (response) {
            console.log(response);
        })
        .catch(function (error) {
            console.log(error);
        });
});

How to prevent CORS-based attacks?

Specify the allowed origins

Only allow trusted sites

Don’t whitelist “null”

Implement proper server-side security policies

For more information and installation visit - www.npmjs.com

Standard built-in objects in Java Script

The string in java script are used to represent and manipulate a sequence of characters.

Discussing about different standard built-in objects :-

Instance Method

String.prototype.
charAt()
- It returns a new string that consists of unit at the given index.
JavaScript Demo: String.prototype.
charAt()
-

const name = 'Dakshata'
console.log(name.charAt(4))
//output : 'h'

String.prototype.
includes()
- performs a case-sensitive search to determine whether a given string may be found within this string, returning
true
or
false
.
JavaScript Demo: String.prototype.
includes()

const sentence = 'I love tea'
console.log(sentence.includes('love'))
// output : true

String.prototype.
indexOf()
- It searches this string and returns the index of the first occurrence of the specified substring.
JavaScript Demo: String.prototype.
indexOf()

const search = ' My favorite language is JavaScript'
console.log(search.indexOf('y'))
// output : 2

String.prototype.
replace()
- It returns a new string with one, some, or all matches of a pattern replaced by a replacement.
JavaScript Demo: String.prototype.
replace()

const para = 'I live in India'
console.log(para.replace('India' , 'Delhi'))
//output :  'I live in Delhi'

String.prototype.
slice()
- It extracts a section of this string and returns it as a new string, without changing the original.
JavaScript Demo: String.prototype.
slice()

const str = 'I love cats and dogs'
console.log(str.slice(2, -5))
// output : "love cats and"

String.prototype.
split()
- It takes a pattern and divides this string into an ordered list of substrings by searching for the pattern.

const str = ' I-am-learning-Reactjs '
const wordgap = str.split('-')
console.log(wordgap[2])
// output: 'learning'

String.prototype.
trim()
- It removes whitespace from both ends of this string.
JavaScript Demo: String.prototype.
trim()
-

const alpha = 'Fun and learn'
console.log(alpha.trim())
//output: 'Fun and learn'

String.prototype.
toLowerCase()
/
toUpperCase()
- returns this string converted to
lowercase/ uppercase
respectively.

const sentence = 'I am happy'
console.log(sentence.toUpperCase())
//output 'I AM HAPPY'

Still the list is not over many left to be discussed. Want to checkout more? Read this ECMAScript.

This is a submission for the 2025 New Year Writing challenge: Retro’ing and Debugging 2024.

New year — a new chapter, new verse, or just the same old story? Ultimately we write it. The choice is ours.
— Alex Morritt

2O24 has been the great year for me, as I stepped into college to pursue my bachelor's degree in computer science and engineering. Missing those school days a lot 🫠. Anyway, I got to learn and experience many futuristic things. Yes!! I participated in Girl Script Summer of Code (GSsoc'24), Hacktoberfest and got selected for Social Winter of Code 2024 ⛄ as a Contributor.

Girl Script Summer Of Code 2024 🚀

Participating in Girl Script Summer of Code 2024 (GSsoC '24) has been an incredible experience that allowed me to grow as a developer while contributing to impactful open-source projects.

Achievements 🌟

7 Pull Requests Merged: Tackled diverse issues across multiple
repositories, focusing on solving real-world problems.

Ranked 177: Among thousands of contributors, I’m proud to have made
meaningful contributions that earned me this rank.

Hacktoberfest 🌱

I had the privilege of participating in Hacktoberfest 2024, and it was an amazing experience that challenged me to push my limits while contributing to meaningful open-source projects.

Achievements 🌟

Completed All 4 Levels: I successfully submitted the required pull requests, earning the recognition of completing all levels of Hacktoberfest.

Early Pegasus Badge: I earned the Early Pegasus Badge by contributing early and actively throughout the month, demonstrating my commitment to open-source.

Last but not the least I think that this is just the beginning. The world of open-source is boundless, and I am excited to continue my journey by contributing, learning, and collaborating on projects. I’m interested in exploring new technologies, refining my skills, and making a lasting impact in the open-source community.

  Why Should you participate?

In real open source, you have the right to control your own destiny. - Linus Torvalds
