Translating Designs into Code with Next.js: Lessons from Pixel Perfect Frontend

I’ve been translating a Figma design into code with Next.js, and it’s reminded me just how strict frontend can be when you’re aiming for pixel perfect accuracy.
One wrong SVG attribute can break a component. Using an tag incorrectly? Breaks the UI too. Small mistakes, but enough to throw everything off. Fixing them made the interface finally match the design the way it was meant to.
This process has shifted how I approach frontend. I’m thinking more in a UX-focused way and being more intentional about how my code reflects the design. It’s challenging, sometimes tricky, but also really satisfying.
If you’re a designer and want to see your Figma designs brought to life in code, I’d love to help.

WORLD HACKATHON EXPERIENCE SERIES 1

I Joined the World’s Biggest AI Hackathon… and Started 10 Days to the Deadline 😅

I haven’t been active for a while here, but like I promised in my last post, I’ll be sharing my experience participating in the world’s largest AI Hackathon hosted by Bolt.
Turns out, this is going to be a series 😅 so welcome to Series 1:

How it started...
I registered for the Hackathon back in April. At the time, it was scheduled for May 1st–30th, and I had just randomly signed up to Bolt in March the same way I try out every new AI tool like ChatGPT.

Then came the update: the Hackathon dates were pushed to June 1st–30th.
This was such a relief because I was still in the middle of my #100daysofcode challenge, and honestly, it was getting overwhelming trying to keep up.
But I still made it 🫠 I completed my #100daysofcode around June 12th.

Then I got an email...
Bolt reached out asking how the Hackathon was going and even invited us to share pictures for possible features. That sparked something.

During my #100daysofcode, I had started a personal project, a solution to a problem I personally face: organizing screenshots.
I didn’t complete it during the challenge, but when Bolt’s Hackathon came around, I decided:
"Why not make this my Hackathon project?"

Originally, I had another idea in mind for the Hackathon, something dear to my heart. I really wanted to see that app come to life and watch people actually use it. But the project was way too large to finish within the time frame.

So I decided to go with the project I was already working on, the one about organizing screenshots.

30 days. 12 days Already gone.
Doing the math, that left me with 18 days.
But guess when I actually started building?

10 days to the end of the Hackathon.

Why? 😆😅
Let’s just say… life was life-ing.
Catch me in Series 2 where I share exactly how I managed the last-minute pressure.
