Heyo Wasup Coders!

I know it's been a long time since I've written but school life ykyk.

Anyways let's get into this blog. Today, I'll be telling you why I use React and why I believe that you and other fellow developers out there should also use React too. Let's get into it!

1. Simplicity of Learning

In my opinion, React JS is one of the most EASIEST frameworks to learn apart from other JavaScript frameworks. I believe it's very direct and straightforward. Everything is to the point which I believe is a reason why you should learn it too. Developers can basically use JavaScript and utilize ReactJS within it.

You can use HTML in React JS along with JSX which is also very easy to learn.

2. Virtual DOM

A feature that I love in React is the DOM. It is a very easy way to render elements, components, and data that can be easily utilized.

As I mentioned before previously, it is the best framework to produce the best UI with ease.

3. Responsive Web Development and SEO

It has good responsiveness between different platforms, devices and softwares. It helps in enabling to load just the relevant data. Loading speed and expert design are very well incorporated within React.

Coming to the SEO, React uses the Virtual DOM to render components onto an entire webpage. These are better than JavaScript apps for SEO.

4. Reusable Components

Another thing I love about React is the feature of reusable components. Firstly, you create a component and provide props. I personally write the components in JSX. JSX is pretty OP. Then, the component will return a rendered HTML element.

React components can be used multiple times at different parts of the website. These are very easy to incorporate within the website that you are making/.

5. JSX

So basically, JSX or JavaScript XML is a an extension of JavaScript. Facebook made JSX to incorporate HTML features easily into JavaScript. You can directly write code bits of HTML in JavaScript with React.

JSX, along with the Virtual DOM, increases the performance and efficiency of ReactJS apps.

So guys I hope that all those non-react using developers out there, hopefully are convinced enough to use React! You can contact me in case you want resources to learn React.

Today, I'll be talking about which is better: React or Angular. Feel free to share your opinions in the comments below!

Let's get it!

✨ Javascript is one of the most popular languages among developers today. There are many developers, newbies, and seasoned aficionados who build their application or project using Javascript, but still, there is confusion when choosing the right framework or library for their design. ✨

Soooo Angular and React are both popular but developers can't really decide upon WHICH is good for their project. 🤷‍♂️

Most learners and students want to learn a framework that could help in getting them a good job in the market. 🤓

Alright I honestly think I'm wasting your time lets get to the point. 😂

Let's get to the BASICS.

React

Pretty sure y'all know what React is but for those of you who don't know, React is a framework created by and maintained by Facebook in 2013. Long story short, ReactJS is used to build interactive user-interfaces.

Angular

Angular is also a JavaScript framework that was created by google and was released in 2010. It's mainly used for developing SPAs (Single-Page Applications).

Lets see what Stack Overflow's AND Google Trends survey says about Angular and React! 📈

We can clearly see that React has more priority over Angular 😲

What I think 🧠:

Angular

Learning the Framework: In order to learn Angular, you have to learn a lot of things like Typescript-in depth. There are a whole lot of other topics to learn such as directives, modules, decorators, components, services, dependency injection, pipes, and templates. So basically if you want to learn Angular, you have to learn a lot of in-depth concepts.

Components and Size: Angular runs on a real DOM.

Updates and Community Support: Angular releases a new version or community update every 6 months. There are 2 major updates per year. Its current version is Angular 12.

React

Learning the Framework: React is a library and has fewer concepts to learn in order to learn React. React uses JSX (JavaScript XML) which is a way of coding HTML into Javascript. You just need to learn the JSX syntax. React does the same task but in a different way. Its quicker to learn than Angular.

Components and Size: React runs on a Virtual DOM which is more lightweight than a real dom. Its a javascript version of a DOM.

Updates and Community Support: React's current version is Version 17.0.0. Making updates in React is easier than making updates in Angular since famous companies like AirBNB and Twitter run on react.

Is Rust going to Replace Java?

Hey Coders!!

A lot of you have been telling me that rust is soon going to replace java.

Looking at the perspective of the number of people using java, I would say Rust isn't going to replace java.

I don't think a language can fully replace another one.

Oracle released Java in 1995. It is still used worldwide by so many developers out there.

I mean, sure, Java is pretty lengthy and we need another way to make it easier to write code.

Technologies such as Rust and Go function the same way as Java but they are written in shorter code.

Hello World Written in Java:

class Simple{  
    public static void main(String args[]){  
     System.out.println("Hello Java");  
    }  
}

Hello World Written in Rust:

fn main() {
  println!("Hello world!");
}

Well, Rust does have a lot of new more interesting ideas and concepts but we don't know whether they are going to be adopted universally.

There are also a lot of other companies that have java code written in their programs.

One advantage of using Java is that you have a lot of libraries and APIs available.

Well, Rust doesn't really have as many developers as Java does.

Rust might not be large enough to become a conventional language.

The Final Reason why I think Java won't be replaced is because the entire company of Android has a lot of servers that run on Java.

Overall, There is a possibility that Rust could replace Java but it most likely wont.

Programming, Scripting, and Markup Languages

Unsurprisingly, for the eighth year in a row, JavaScript has maintained it's stronghold as the most commonly used programming language. Going further down the list, we also see moderate gains for TypeScript, edging out C in terms of popularity. Additionally, Ruby, once in the top 10 of this list as recently as 2017, has declined, being surpassed by newer, trendier technologies such as Go and Kotlin.

Web Frameworks

When focusing purely on web frameworks, we see that jQuery is still king, but is slowly losing ground to React.js and Angular year over year. We do see some consolidation, as more than 35% of respondents use jQuery, React, a version of Angular (combining Angular, which represents Angular 2+, and Angular.js) or a flavor of ASP.NET (ASP.NET or ASP.NET Core).

Other Frameworks, Libraries, and Tools

Similar to last year, we asked about many of the other miscellaneous technologies that developers are using. For the second year in a row, Node.js takes the top spot, as it is used by half of the respondents. We also see growth across the board in the popularity of data analysis and machine learning technologies such as Pandas, TensorFlow, and Torch/PyTorch.

Databases

When looking at database technologies, the results are mostly consistent with what we observed last year. MySQL has maintained the top spot, followed by PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server. However, we see some slight growth in the popularity of Firebase, which edged out Elasticsearch this year.

Platforms

Linux and Windows maintain the top spots for most popular platforms, with over half of the respondents reporting that they have done development work with them this year. We also see some year over year growth in the popularity of container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Most Loved, Dreaded, and Wanted Languages

For five years running, Rust has taken the top spot as the most loved programming language. TypeScript is second surpassing Python compared to last year. We also see big gains in Go, moving up to 5th from 10th last year.

VBA, Objective C, and Perl hold the top spots for the most dreaded languages—languages that had a high percentage of developers who are currently using them, but have no interest in continuing to do so.

If we look at technologies that developers report that they do not use but want to learn, Python takes the top spot for the fourth year in a row. We also see some modest gains in the interest in learning Rust.

Most Loved, Dreaded, and Wanted Web Frameworks

ASP.NET Core is the most loved web framework, beating out React.js. Gatsby, a newcomer on the survey, is already sitting at 5th, being loved by 60% of the respondents.

Although it is amongst the most popular web frameworks, Angular.js is also considered to be the most dreaded.

Most Loved, Dreaded, and Wanted Other Frameworks, Libraries, and Tools

.NET Core and Torch/PyTorch remain the most loved of the other remaining frameworks, libraries and tools. DevOps tools Chef and Puppet are among the most dreaded technologies.

Most Loved Platforms

Linux remains the most loved platform. Container technologies Docker and Kubernetes rank as the second and third most loved. They are also among the platforms that developers most want to learn, which demonstrates how beloved they are. Wordpress is still the most dreaded, but Slack Apps and integrations, newly added to the list this year, rank high at the number four spot.

Collaboration Platforms

Of the professional developers who responded to the survey, almost 82% use GitHub as a collaborative tool and more than half use Slack.

React, A JavaScript Library for Building Beautiful User Interfaces.

It was developed by Facebook and was released in the year of 2013.

ReactJS has been one of the most influential libraries of recent times.

We use it to build components that represent logical and reusable parts of the UI.

The beauty of React is the simplicity of creating a component.

You can use JavaScript Functions with HTML Code inside it to render the components. This is known as JSX. It compiles HTML and JavaScript together.

As an added bonus, you can easily jump into React Native and start building mobile apps.

It's no surprise that this UI Library is one of the in-demand skills for many developers today.

How to Host Your React.JS Application to Firebase

In the ending of the post, I mentioned that I deployed my React Application to Firebase.

Want to know how to do this as well?

Well today, I am going to be showing you the same.

Getting Started

In this tutorial, I will be demonstrating how you can deploy your React app using Firebase Hosting. I will assume that you already have a Firebase project set up. If you do not, you can create one using the Firebase Console.
You will also need to ensure have a React app created. For this, I will use Create React App. You can create a new React app by running the following:

npx create-react-app firebase-hosting-demo

1. Installing the Firebase CLI Tools

You will need the Firebase CLI Tools in order to deploy your app to the internet.

You can do this by using the command:

npm install firebase-tools -g

(Don't forget to add the -g flag or else it will not be enabled globally and will set the scope to only this project)

2. Login to Firebase

firebase login

Then, proceed with your google account to login to the Firebase console.

3. Initialize Firebase

The next step is to Initialize Firebase with your project using:

firebase init

You will then be prompted with a series of questions and configuration options that I will walk through with you.

Select Hosting: Configure and deploy Firebase Hosting sites.

Then, create a project on the Firebase Console

Then, back in the CLI:

Select Use an existing project

Then, select your firebase project that you created.

You will now need to specify the folder where Firebase will look for assets to deploy. By default, Create React App will generate a build folder that will contain the production assets. Unless you changed the default configuration, you’ll want to enter build for this option.

You will also be asked whether or not Firebase should configure as a single-page app. You’ll want to enter y (Yes) for this option.

The last option is whether or not Firebase should overwrite your existing build/index.html. If you haven’t created a build for your app yet, then you won’t see this option. You’ll want to enter N (No) for this option, though.

Auto Generated Configuration files

After you have completed the initialization, you should see 2 new files .firebaserc, firebase.json. These files are automatically generated and you will want to save these files, and commit them in your git repo, as they live in your firebase hosting config. You can ignore the .firebase directory for now.

The .firebaserc should look similar to the following:

4. Deploying your App

Now that everything is set up, you can go ahead and deploy your app! All you need to do now is run:

firebase deploy

Firebase will then give you a unique URL where your deployed app is located. For example, it might look similar to:

https://yourprojectid.web.app

And thats pretty much it!
