How to Convert Markdown to PDF (README, Notes and Documentation)

I'm Sumit Kumar, founder of TooliFyra, and like many developers I write most of my notes and documentation in Markdown. It is quick, it works in any editor and it diffs nicely in Git. The trouble starts when someone who does not use Markdown asks for a PDF. You can paste the text into a word processor and rebuild the formatting by hand, or you can convert it in one step. This guide shows the quick way.

 Why convert Markdown to PDF?

Sharing a README or API guide with a client who does not use GitHub

Turning meeting notes or study notes into something you can print

Sending a project proposal that you drafted in a plain text editor

Archiving a blog post draft in a format that looks the same everywhere

 Step by step

Open the Markdown to PDF converter.

Choose how to bring in your content. You can Paste Markdown into the editor, or Upload File and select a
.md
file.

Check the content you loaded. The tool shows the file name and size when you upload.

Click Convert to PDF. A short "Generating PDF" message appears.

Click Download PDF to save the document, or Convert Another to start over.

The tool says it uses the marked library to render Markdown and pdf-lib to generate the PDF, and that all of it runs locally in your browser. Your text is not sent to a server.

 What Markdown features are supported

According to the tool, the converter handles:

Headings from H1 to H6

Ordered and unordered lists

Code blocks and inline code

Blockquotes

Bold and italic text

Links and image references

 Limits you should know about

I would rather you know these before you start than be surprised afterwards. The tool page is clear about them:

No syntax highlighting. Code blocks appear in a monospace font with proper formatting, but without colours.

Images are not embedded. Image Markdown is preserved as alt text in the PDF. If your document depends on diagrams, add them in another way or describe them in the text.

So this tool is best for text-focused documents: notes, guides, proposals, changelogs, and READMEs without many pictures.

 A quick example

Paste this into the editor:

`@

 Weekly Report

 Highlights

Shipped the new dashboard

Fixed three login bugs

Next week: performance tuning
`@

After converting, you get a PDF with a large heading, a smaller subheading, a bullet list with bold text and a quote block. It is ready to email.

 Tips for better results

Use a clear heading structure. One H1 at the top, then H2 sections, then H3 sub-sections gives a PDF that is easy to scan.

Keep lines in lists short. Long, multi-paragraph list items are harder to read in a fixed-width page.

Check your links. Write links in full, like
[TooliFyra](https://toolifyra.com)
, so the destination is clear.

Preview if you are unsure. If you want to see how Markdown becomes HTML first, you can try the Markdown to HTML converter, which has a live preview.

Skim the PDF before sending. Scroll through once, especially if your document has tables or nested lists.

 Frequently asked questions

Can I upload a README.md directly?
Yes. Use the Upload File option, or paste the contents.

Will my code blocks keep their indentation?
They are rendered in a monospace font with formatting. They are not colour highlighted.

Can I include images?
Not as real images. The tool keeps image references as alt text.

Is the content uploaded?
The tool says all rendering and PDF conversion is done in your browser.

Is it free?
Yes. The page says there are no limits.

 Closing

Markdown is great for writing and PDF is great for sharing. The Markdown to PDF converter connects the two without asking you to sign up or install anything.

How to Rotate PDF Pages Permanently (Sideways Scans, Upside-Down Pages and Mixed Orientation)

I'm Sumit Kumar, founder of TooliFyra. If you have ever scanned a document on a phone or office scanner, you have probably opened the file to find a page lying on its side. Your PDF viewer lets you rotate the view, but the moment you close the file the page is sideways again. That is because viewer rotation is temporary. To fix it for everyone who opens the file, you need to rotate the pages permanently. Here is how to do that in your browser.

 View rotation versus permanent rotation

Most PDF readers have a "rotate clockwise" button. It changes how the page is displayed for you, in that session, and often does not save to the file. Permanent rotation changes the page orientation inside the PDF itself. That is what you want before you:

Email a scan to a client or teacher

Upload a document to a government or college portal

Print a file where one page keeps coming out sideways

Merge several files where some pages are landscape and some portrait

 Step by step

Open the Rotate PDF Pages tool.

Upload your PDF by clicking the upload area or dragging the file in. The tool shows the file name and number of pages.

Choose a rotation angle. The three options are 90° CW (clockwise), 180° Flip (upside down) and 90° CCW (counter-clockwise, which the tool describes as 270°).

Choose which pages to rotate. You can use Select All or Deselect All, and you can click individual page chips to pick specific pages.

Click Rotate Pages.

Click Download Rotated PDF. If you made a mistake, use Start Over to reload.

 Which angle should I pick?

A quick rule: look at the top of the text on the sideways page.

If the top of the text points to the left, rotate 90° clockwise.

If the top of the text points to the right, rotate 90° counter-clockwise.

If the text is upside down, use 180°.

If you are unsure, do not worry. Rotate once, check the result, and rotate again if needed. Each rotation is applied to the file you download, so keep working on the same output if you need two steps.

 Handling mixed orientation

Real documents are often a mix. A report might have portrait text pages and a landscape chart in the middle. Or a stack of papers was fed into the scanner with a few sheets turned. For those files:

Click Deselect All first.

Click only the page chips that are wrong, for example pages 4 and 9.

Apply the correct angle and download.

This leaves every other page untouched, so you do not end up fixing one problem by creating ten new ones.

 Tips for cleaner results

Rotate before you merge. If you plan to combine files with the PDF Merger, correct the orientation of each source first. It is easier than hunting for wrong pages in a 60-page merged file.

Scan correction works on any PDF. The tool's FAQ says rotation works regardless of content, including scanned PDFs. It changes orientation only, it does not straighten a slightly tilted scan or improve quality.

Check the page count. The tool displays the number of pages after upload. Make sure it matches what you expected before you start selecting.

Keep the original. Save the rotated version under a different name, in case you later need the file as it was.

 Frequently asked questions

Is the rotation really permanent?
Yes. The rotated pages are saved in the PDF you download, so every viewer will show them correctly.

Can I rotate just one page?
Yes. Deselect everything, then click the chip for that page.

Will this reduce quality?
The tool turns the page orientation. It does not re-scan or recompress your content in any way the page describes, so the text and images stay as they were.

Are my files uploaded?
The tool states that processing is local in your browser with no server uploads.

Is it free?
Yes, with no watermark. The page says there are no limits on usage.

 Wrap up

A sideways page can cost you a rejected application or an awkward email to a client. Fixing it takes under a minute. Give the Rotate PDF Pages tool a go the next time a scan comes out the wrong way round.

How to Remove Pages From a PDF Without Uploading It Anywhere

I'm Sumit Kumar, founder of TooliFyra. One of the most common messages I get from people using our PDF tools is some version of "I only need pages 2 to 5, how do I get rid of the rest?" It sounds trivial, but PDF viewers rarely make it easy. Here is a straightforward way to delete pages from a PDF in your browser, along with a few habits that will save you from sending the wrong file.

When removing pages is the right move

Deleting pages is different from splitting a document. When you split, you keep the pieces you cut out. When you remove, you simply want a cleaner version of the original. Typical situations:

A scanned file with a blank back page after every sheet

A report that still has the old cover page or an internal "draft" page you must not share

A textbook chapter where you only need part of the content for revision

An application form where an instruction sheet should not go to the recipient

A contract copy with a page you have already signed separately

Step by step with the PDF Page Remove tool

Open the PDF Page Remove tool.

Click the upload area or drag your PDF into it. The page thumbnails load so you can see what you are working with.

Choose pages in one of two ways. You can click a thumbnail to mark it for removal (it turns red with a strikethrough), or you can type page numbers into the box, for example
1,3,5-7
. Commas separate single pages and dashes define ranges.

Click Remove Selected.

Click Download PDF to save the cleaned file.

If you have a second document to trim, use Remove from Another to start over.

Everything happens inside your browser. The tool states that your PDF never leaves your device, which is the main reason I like using this kind of tool for documents with ID numbers or bank details.

Tips so you do not delete the wrong thing

Keep the original. Removal is permanent in the file you download. The tool's own FAQ says to keep a backup, and I agree. Save the result under a new name such as
report-clean.pdf
instead of overwriting the source.

Count from the first page of the file, not the printed number. If your PDF has a cover page and printed numbering starts on page 3, the tool still counts physical pages from 1. Always trust the thumbnails over the number printed in the footer.

Mix clicking and typing. For a 200-page document, typing
1-12,190-200
is faster than clicking twenty thumbnails. For a short document, clicking is safer because you can see exactly what you are marking.

Look at the output before sending. Scroll through the downloaded file once. It takes ten seconds and catches mistakes such as removing page 10 when you meant page 1.

Think about file size. Removing image-heavy pages, like full-page scans or photos, can make the file noticeably smaller. If you still need it smaller for an email limit, run it through the PDF Compressor afterwards.

 A small example

Say you have a 12-page vendor proposal. Pages 1 and 2 are an internal cover memo and a pricing worksheet that must stay inside your company. Page 7 is blank because of a printer duplex setting. You type
1,2,7
in the page box, click Remove Selected, and download a 9-page clean proposal. The whole process takes less than a minute and you did not need to install anything.

 Frequently asked questions

Can I undo a removal after downloading?
No. The downloaded file simply does not contain those pages. Keep your original so you can start again if needed.

Can I remove a range of pages at once?
Yes. Enter something like
5-9
or
3,7,10-12
in the page field.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
According to the tool, no. Processing is client-side in your browser, and your file stays on your device.

Is there a watermark or sign-up requirement?
No watermark, no registration, and no file size limit is stated on the tool page. Very large files still depend on your device's memory, so a huge scan may be slow on an old phone.

What if I need the opposite, keeping only a few pages?
You can remove everything else, or use a page extraction or split tool if that feels easier for your case.

 Final thought

Removing pages should be a ten-second job, not a reason to install heavy software or upload private documents to a stranger's server. If you have a file you want to tidy, try the PDF Page Remove tool and tell me what would make it more useful. I read every message sent through TooliFyra.

Base64 Encoding and Decoding Explained, With a Free Online Tool

I'm Sumit Kumar, founder of TooliFyra. Sooner or later every developer meets a string like
SGVsbG8sIFdvcmxkIQ==
in an API response, a config file or an email header. That is Base64. Here's what it is, when it's useful, and how to encode or decode text quickly, including Hindi text and emoji, which many basic tools get wrong.

 What Base64 is

Base64 is a way of representing binary data using only 64 safe, printable ASCII characters: A to Z, a to z, 0 to 9, plus
+
and
/
. The
=
sign at the end is padding. It exists because many text-based systems such as email, JSON and HTML can't safely carry raw binary bytes. Encoding turns the data into plain text that travels intact.

Two things to remember:

Base64 makes data about 33% larger.

Base64 is not encryption. Anyone can decode it. Never treat it as a way of hiding secrets.

 Encode or decode with TooliFyra

Open the Base64 String Encoder/Decoder.

Paste or type your text into the Plain Text Input box.

Click Encode to Base64 to convert plain text, or Decode from Base64 to turn a Base64 string back into readable text.

Click Copy Result to copy the output.

For example, encoding
Hello, World!
gives
SGVsbG8sIFdvcmxkIQ==
. Paste that back and click Decode to get the original text.

 UTF-8 and Unicode support

A common problem with simple encoders is that they break on anything outside basic English letters. This tool supports full UTF-8, so text in Hindi, Chinese, Arabic and emoji encodes and decodes correctly. If you've ever seen garbled characters after decoding, a missing UTF-8 step is often the reason.

If you paste something that isn't valid Base64, the tool shows a clear error message instead of silent garbage, which helps when you're debugging a truncated or copied-wrongly string.

 Where Base64 shows up

HTTP Basic Auth: the
Authorization: Basic ...
header is
username:password
encoded in Base64. Decoding it shows the pair in plain text, a good reminder to always use HTTPS.

Data URIs: small images embedded in HTML or CSS as
data:image/png;base64,...
.

JWT tokens: the header and payload are Base64URL-encoded JSON. A JWT uses a URL-safe variation, so for tokens use a dedicated JWT parser rather than a plain Base64 decoder.

Email attachments (MIME): files are Base64 encoded for transport.

Config and secrets in Kubernetes: values in a Secret manifest are Base64 encoded, not encrypted.

 Practical tips

Watch for whitespace. A trailing space or newline can make a valid string fail to decode. Trim before pasting.

Padding matters. If the length of the string isn't a multiple of four,
=
characters may have been cut off.

Don't confuse Base64 with Base64URL. The URL-safe form swaps
+
and
/
for
-
and
_
. If decoding fails on a token, that may be why.

Don't paste real passwords or private keys into any website you don't trust. This tool runs in your browser and doesn't send data to a server, which is the safer way to do quick checks.

For files, use a file-oriented tool. This one is meant for text strings.

 Frequently asked questions

Is Base64 secure?
No. It is an encoding, not encryption. Anyone can reverse it.

Why does Base64 end with
=
?
It's padding that makes the output length a multiple of four characters.

Does it support emoji and non-English text?
Yes, the tool handles full UTF-8 and Unicode.

What happens if I decode an invalid string?
You get a clear error message so you can fix the input.

Is my text uploaded?
No. Encoding and decoding happen in your browser.

Try it yourself with the free Base64 encoder and decoder.

I'm Sumit Kumar, founder of TooliFyra. If you write code, content or even spreadsheets, you've retyped something because it was in the wrong case. "user profile id" needs to become
userProfileId
in JavaScript,
user_profile_id
in Python and
user-profile-id
in a URL. Doing this by hand is slow and easy to get wrong, so here's a quick guide to the formats and a tool that handles them.

The 11 formats and what they're for

Format

Example

Typical use

UPPERCASE

USER PROFILE ID

Headings, emphasis

lowercase

user profile id

Normalising text, emails

Title Case

User Profile Id

Headlines, titles

Sentence case

User profile id

Body copy, UI labels

camelCase

userProfileId

JavaScript, Java variables

PascalCase

UserProfileId

Class names, React components

snake_case

user_profile_id

Python, database columns

kebab-case

user-profile-id

URLs, CSS classes

CONSTANT_CASE

USER_PROFILE_ID

Constants, environment variables

dot.case

user.profile.id

Config keys, package names

path/case

user/profile/id

File paths, routes

How to use the Case Converter

Open the Case Converter.

Type or paste your text into the input box.

Click the format you want. The result appears in the output panel straight away.

Click Copy to put it on your clipboard, or click another button to try a different format on the same input.

You don't need to reset anything between conversions. The same input can be turned into several formats one after another.

 Smart word splitting

A good converter has to know where one word ends and the next begins. This tool splits words on spaces, hyphens, underscores and camelCase boundaries. So you can paste
getUserProfile
,
get_user_profile
or
get-user-profile
and convert any of them into any other format. That makes it handy when renaming variables while refactoring, or moving data between systems with different conventions, for example a JSON API in camelCase and a database in snake_case.

It also keeps punctuation inside words sensible. Apostrophes in words like "don't" and hyphens in compound words are handled so that Title Case and Sentence case don't mangle them.

 Real-world scenarios

Developers: convert a column name list from a database schema to camelCase properties for your model class.

SEO and bloggers: turn a headline into a kebab-case URL slug. "10 Free Tools for Students" becomes a clean, hyphenated path.

Writers and editors: paste a headline typed in all caps and switch it to Title Case or Sentence case in a click.

Designers and developers: convert a Figma layer name into a CSS class name or a React component name.

Data cleaning: lowercase a list of email addresses or tags before comparing them.

 Tips

Check Title Case on headlines. Different style guides handle short words such as "of" and "and" differently, so skim the output before publishing.

Pick one convention per project and stick to it. Mixed naming is the main reason code becomes hard to read.

Use CONSTANT_CASE only for true constants, not ordinary variables.

Convert in bulk. You can paste several lines at once rather than converting them one at a time.

Keep sensitive text out of random websites. This converter runs in your browser and makes no server calls, so what you paste isn't uploaded.

 Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between camelCase and PascalCase?
camelCase starts with a lowercase letter (
userName
), PascalCase starts with an uppercase one (
UserName
).

Which case should I use for URLs?
kebab-case is the common choice because search engines treat hyphens as word separators.

Can I convert snake_case directly to camelCase?
Yes. The tool splits words on underscores, so you can paste snake_case and click camelCase.

Is there a length limit?
There's no fixed limit stated, though very large text depends on your browser's memory.

Is it free?
Yes, and no sign-up is needed.

Give it a go with the free Case Converter.
FD Calculator: How to Work Out Your Fixed Deposit Maturity Amount

I'm Sumit Kumar, founder of TooliFyra. A fixed deposit is the first investment many of us make, and the bank usually quotes only the interest rate. What you really want to know is simpler: if I put in this much today, how much will I get on maturity? Here's how to calculate it and compare options without opening a spreadsheet.

 How FD maturity is calculated

Most FDs compound interest, usually quarterly in India. The formula is:

Maturity = P × (1 + r/n)^(n × t)

P is the deposit, r the annual rate as a decimal, n the number of compounding periods per year and t the tenure in years.

For ₹5,00,000 at 7% for 3 years with quarterly compounding:

r/n = 0.07 ÷ 4 = 0.0175

n × t = 12 periods

1.0175^12 ≈ 1.2314

Maturity ≈ ₹6,15,720, so interest of about ₹1,15,720

 Using the FD Calculator

Open the FD Calculator.

Set the Deposit Amount using the slider.

Enter the Interest Rate your bank or NBFC is offering.

Choose the Time Period in years.

Pick the Compounding Frequency: Monthly, Quarterly, Half-Yearly or Annually. The default is Quarterly, which matches most bank FDs.

Read the Maturity Amount, Total Interest, Deposit Amount and Effective Yield.

Below the main numbers you'll find a comparison of the FD against a savings account and a year-by-year growth chart.

What the effective yield tells you

A 7% rate compounded quarterly isn't really 7% per year. It works out to about 7.19% when you account for compounding. That's the effective yield. It's the fairest number for comparing a quarterly-compounding FD with a monthly-compounding one from another bank, because the headline rates alone can mislead.

 Compounding frequency compared

For ₹5,00,000 at 7% over 3 years:

Compounding

Maturity (approx.)

Annually

₹6,12,522

Half-yearly

₹6,14,628

Quarterly

₹6,15,720

Monthly

₹6,16,463

The difference between the best and worst is under ₹4,000. If one bank offers a slightly higher rate with quarterly compounding, it can easily beat another with a lower rate but monthly compounding. Plug both options into the calculator to be sure.

 FD versus savings account

The calculator includes a comparison showing how much you'd earn in a savings account versus an FD for the same amount and period, and the extra you earn with the FD. This is useful for money you won't need soon. Keep your emergency fund in an accessible account and put the surplus in a deposit.

 Practical tips

Compare effective yield, not just the headline rate. It's the only like-for-like figure.

Try different tenures. Sometimes a 2-year FD pays a better rate than a 3-year one. Run each through the calculator.

Consider laddering. Splitting a large sum into several FDs with different maturity dates gives you regular liquidity without breaking a deposit early.

Remember tax. Interest is taxable according to your income slab, and this calculator shows pre-tax figures. Your take-home return will be lower.

Check premature withdrawal rules. Banks usually charge a penalty if you break an FD early, so choose a tenure you can honour.

 Frequently asked questions

How is FD maturity calculated?
Maturity = P × (1 + r/n)^(n × t), where n is the compounding frequency per year.

Which compounding frequency is best?
More frequent compounding gives slightly higher returns, but most banks offer quarterly compounding.

Does the calculator include tax?
No, the results are pre-tax.

Can I use it for recurring deposits?
This tool is for a single lump-sum deposit. For monthly investments, use an SIP-style calculator instead.

Is it free?
Yes, with no sign-up. Your numbers stay in your browser.

Try your own deposit on the FD Calculator, and explore other finance tools on TooliFyra.

Compound Interest Explained: How Compounding Frequency and Monthly Contributions Change Your Returns

I'm Sumit Kumar, founder of TooliFyra. People often say compound interest is powerful, but the real insight comes when you see actual numbers side by side. In this guide I'll show how the same ₹1,00,000 grows differently depending on how often it compounds, and how regular contributions change the picture far more than the compounding frequency does.

 The idea in one line

Simple interest is paid only on your original amount. Compound interest is paid on the original amount plus the interest already earned, so each period's interest is slightly larger than the last.

The formula for a lump sum is:

A = P × (1 + r/n)^(n × t)

where P is the principal, r is the annual rate as a decimal, n is the number of compounding periods per year and t is the number of years.

 Does compounding frequency matter?

Take ₹1,00,000 at 8% per year for 10 years:

Compounding

Final value (approx.)

Annually

₹2,15,892

Half-yearly

₹2,19,112

Quarterly

₹2,20,804

Monthly

₹2,21,964

Daily

₹2,22,535

Moving from annual to daily compounding adds about ₹6,600 over ten years, a gain of roughly 3%. That's real but modest. The rate and the time horizon matter far more than the frequency.

 Using the calculator

Open the Compound Interest Calculator.

Set the Principal Amount with the slider or type it in.

Set the Annual Interest Rate and the Time Period in years.

Choose a Compounding Frequency: Daily, Monthly, Quarterly, Half-Yearly or Annually.

Read the total value, principal, total interest and total contributions, and look at the stacked bar chart that splits principal from interest.

To check my table above, enter 1,00,000, 8%, 10 years and flip through the frequencies.

 Adding regular contributions

This is where the tool becomes more useful than a plain formula. Turn on Add regular contributions, enter a contribution amount and choose Monthly or Yearly.

For example, ₹1,00,000 at 8%, compounded monthly for 10 years, with an extra ₹5,000 added every month comes to roughly ₹11.4 lakh, while you've actually put in ₹7 lakh. The remaining ₹4.4 lakh or so is interest. Compare that with the lump sum alone, which ends near ₹2.2 lakh, and you can see why steady contributions dominate the result. The exact figure shown by the calculator may differ slightly depending on how the tool times each contribution, so treat my numbers as a sanity check, not an exact match.

 Practical tips

Start by changing time, not rate. Slide the years from 10 to 20 and watch the final value more than double. Time is the cheapest lever you have.

Be realistic about the rate. Enter a conservative figure rather than the best-case one. Returns on market-linked investments aren't guaranteed.

Compare loans too. Compounding works against you on debt. If a card or loan compounds monthly, the same maths shows how fast balances grow.

Ignore tiny frequency differences when choosing between two products. A 0.25% higher rate usually outweighs monthly versus quarterly compounding.

Remember taxes and inflation. The calculator shows nominal growth. Your real gain after tax and inflation will be lower.

 Frequently asked questions

What is compound interest?
Interest calculated on the principal plus the interest accumulated in earlier periods.

Which compounding frequency is best?
More frequent compounding gives slightly higher returns for the same rate, so daily beats annual, but the difference is small.

Can I include monthly investments?
Yes. Toggle regular contributions and choose a monthly or yearly amount.

Does it work for loans?
The maths is the same, so you can use it to see how a debt grows if left unpaid, although for repayment schedules an EMI calculator is a better fit.

Is it free and private?
Yes. It is free with no sign-up, and the calculation runs in your browser.

You can try your own numbers on the free Compound Interest Calculator.
How to Calculate BMI (Metric or Imperial) and What the Number Actually Tells You

I'm Sumit Kumar, founder of TooliFyra. BMI is one of those numbers everyone has heard of but few people calculate correctly, and even fewer know how to read sensibly. A doctor mentions it, an insurance form asks for it, a fitness app shows it in bright colours. Here is how it works, how to get it in ten seconds, and where it falls short.

 What BMI is

Body Mass Index is a screening measure based on only two inputs, your weight and your height. The formula is:

BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m)²

So a person who weighs 70 kg and is 1.70 m tall has a BMI of 70 ÷ 2.89 = about 24.2. In imperial units the same idea is used with pounds and inches, with a conversion factor of 703.

The standard categories are:

BMI

Category

Below 18.5

Underweight

18.5 to 24.9

Normal

25 to 29.9

Overweight

30 and above

Obese

How to use the BMI calculator

Open the BMI Calculator.

Pick a unit system: Metric (kg/cm) or Imperial (lbs/ft).

Enter your weight and height. In imperial mode, height is entered as feet and inches in separate boxes, so you don't have to convert 5'7" into decimals yourself.

Read your BMI value and category. A colour-coded gauge shows where you sit between Underweight, Normal, Overweight and Obese.

Check the ideal body weight range shown below the result. It is based on your height, so it changes as you adjust the height field.

The results update as you type, so there is no submit button to hunt for. Everything is calculated in your browser, which matters for a health measurement: your weight and height are not sent anywhere.

 Three quick examples

55 kg, 160 cm: 55 ÷ 2.56 = 21.5, which is in the normal range.

70 kg, 170 cm: about 24.2, near the top of normal.

85 kg, 175 cm: 85 ÷ 3.0625 = 27.8, in the overweight range.

Try these in the calculator to confirm the numbers match what you calculate by hand.

Tips for getting a useful reading

Measure the same way each time. Weigh yourself in the morning, before eating, with similar clothing. A 1 kg swing from one meal changes BMI by about 0.3 for an average adult.

Measure height without shoes, standing straight against a wall. Being off by 2 cm changes the result more than people expect.

Don't track daily. BMI is a slow-moving number. Checking monthly is enough to see a trend.

Use the ideal range as a rough target, not a deadline. It tells you which weights fall in the normal band for your height.

 What BMI doesn't tell you

BMI is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. It cannot tell muscle from fat, so a muscular person can land in the "overweight" band while having low body fat. It also says nothing about where fat is stored, and the same cut-offs may not suit every age group or body type. If your result surprises you, treat it as a prompt to talk to a doctor, not as a verdict. If you want a second angle, TooliFyra also has a Body Fat Calculator and a Calorie Calculator that look at different parts of the picture.

 Frequently asked questions

What is a healthy BMI range?
18.5 to 24.9 is considered normal. Below 18.5 is underweight, 25 to 29.9 is overweight, and 30 or more is obese.

Is BMI accurate for athletes?
Not always. Because it uses only weight and height, it can overstate risk for people with a lot of muscle.

Can I use pounds and feet?
Yes. Switch to the Imperial tab and enter weight in lbs and height in feet and inches.

Is my data stored anywhere?
No. The calculation happens locally in your browser, and nothing you type is uploaded.

Is it free?
Yes, no sign-up and no limits.

If you want to check your own number now, the free BMI Calculator is ready to use, and you can find the rest of the calculators and utilities on TooliFyra.

Converting PDF to Word: What Works, What Doesn't, and a Free Way to Start

I'm Sumit Kumar, founder of TooliFyra. "PDF to Word" is one of the most searched document tasks, and also one of the most misunderstood. People expect a perfect, fully formatted Word file. In practice, results depend heavily on how the PDF was made. Let me explain what to expect and how to get usable, editable text quickly.

Why PDF to Word is tricky

A PDF is designed to look the same everywhere. It stores positions of text and images on a page, not the flowing paragraphs, styles and tables that Word uses. Converting back means reconstructing structure that was never saved.

That's why simple, text-based PDFs convert well and complicated layouts (multi-column magazines, heavy tables, designed brochures) often need cleanup.

 Two kinds of PDFs

Text-based PDFs are exported from Word, Google Docs or a website. The text is real, so it can be extracted.

Scanned PDFs are pictures of pages. There is no text to extract unless OCR (optical character recognition) is applied first. A converter that only extracts text will give you an empty or blank result for these.

To tell which you have, open the PDF and try to select a word with your mouse. If you can highlight it, it's text-based.

 Step-by-step with a browser tool

Open the PDF to Word converter.

Upload your PDF by clicking or dragging it in.

Click Convert to Word.

Download the resulting
.doc
file and open it in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs.

To be upfront about it: this tool extracts the text content and produces an editable
.doc
file, using pdf.js in your browser. It's ideal when you want the words, for editing, rewriting or copying into another document. It's not designed to reproduce complex page layouts, images and tables exactly. Everything runs locally, so files are not uploaded.

 What to do after converting

Check headings and paragraphs. Skim for broken line breaks, which are common when text is extracted from PDFs.

Fix formatting with styles. Apply Heading styles and a single body font. It's faster than adjusting each line by hand.

Rebuild tables if needed. Tables with many columns usually need to be recreated manually.

Re-insert images. If images matter, you can pull them from the original or use a PDF image extractor.

Proofread numbers. Always double-check figures, dates and names against the original.

 Tips for better results

Start from the original source file if you have it. A Word file is always better than converting a PDF back.

Prefer clean, single-column PDFs.

For a scanned document, run OCR first with a dedicated tool; extraction can't read images of text.

If you only need a few paragraphs, copying from a PDF reader may be quicker.

Keep the original PDF as a reference for layout.

 Alternatives when layout matters

If you must keep exact formatting, consider asking the sender for the editable source, using Word's own "Open PDF" feature on desktop, or recreating the layout in a design tool. For plain content like contracts, essays or notes, text extraction is often all you need.

 FAQ

Is it free?
Yes, no signup or watermark.

Does it keep the layout?
Not exactly. It focuses on extracting editable text.

Does it work for scanned PDFs?
Not without OCR, because scans are images rather than text.

Is my file uploaded?
No. Processing runs in your browser.

What format is the output?
A Word-compatible
.doc
file.

Can I convert a password-protected PDF?
You'd need to unlock it first, with the owner's permission.

 Wrap-up

Set realistic expectations and choose the method that fits your document. If you want to try more free tools for PDFs, images and calculators, visit toolifyra.com.

How to Convert JPG Photos to a PDF (and Get the Page Order Right)

I'm Sumit Kumar, founder of TooliFyra. A very common situation: you've photographed a document with your phone, or you have a set of scanned JPGs, and a website asks for a PDF. Converting is simple, but small choices (page size, order, image quality) decide whether the result looks professional or sloppy. Here's how I'd do it.

When you need JPG to PDF

Submitting identity or address proofs on a government or bank portal

Turning photographed notes or whiteboards into one shareable file

Sending a signed document you captured with a camera

Creating a simple photo album or portfolio PDF

Bundling receipts for an expense claim

 Step-by-step

Open the JPG to PDF converter.

Click the upload area or drag in one or more JPG files. Use Add More if you missed some.

Drag the image cards into the order you want the pages to appear.

Choose the page size: A4, Letter, or Fit Image Size.

Click Create PDF and then Download PDF.

Conversion happens in your browser, so your photos aren't uploaded to a server.

 Picking the right page size

A4 (210 × 297 mm) is the standard in India and most of the world. Choose it for anything you might print or submit to an Indian office.

Letter (216 × 279 mm) is the US standard. Use it if the recipient is in North America.

Fit Image Size makes each page match its image exactly. It's useful for screenshots, posters or photos where you don't want white borders, but pages may end up with different sizes, which can look odd in a printed bundle.

 Tips for better results

Photograph documents properly. Place the paper on a flat, dark surface, use daylight, and hold the phone directly above to avoid skewed edges. A good photo gives a good PDF; no converter can fix a blurry one.

Crop before converting. Trim the surrounding table or fingers in your phone's gallery editor first. It makes pages look cleaner and slightly smaller.

Watch the file size. Phone photos can be 3 to 8 MB each, so a ten-page PDF can become huge. If a portal has a limit, run the result through a PDF compressor afterwards, or reduce the images first with an image compressor.

Rotate before converting. If a photo is sideways, rotate it in your gallery app first so the PDF page is upright.

Order matters. Reorder the cards before generating. Fixing order afterwards means starting again.

Name your output. Use something like
address-proof-sumit.pdf
instead of the default so the recipient can identify it.

JPG vs. PNG vs. scanner apps

JPG is fine for photos and scans. If your source is a screenshot with sharp text, PNG may look cleaner; there is a separate PNG to PDF tool for that. Dedicated scanner apps add automatic edge detection and contrast enhancement, which is great, but if you only have JPGs already, converting them is the quickest path.

 Common problems

The PDF is too large. Compress it or reduce the number of high-resolution images.

Pages have different sizes. Choose A4 instead of Fit Image Size so every page is uniform.

An image is missing. Make sure it's a real JPG or JPEG file. Images in other formats (for example HEIC from iPhones) need converting first.

 FAQ

Is it free?
Yes, with no signup.

Is there a limit on images?
You can add multiple images; the practical limit is your device's memory.

Are my photos stored anywhere?
No, processing is local to your browser.

Can I convert several JPGs into one PDF?
Yes, that's the main use. Add them all and reorder.

Does it work on mobile?
Yes, in a mobile browser, though dragging cards is easier with a mouse.

 Summary

Take clear photos, choose A4, set the order, and check the file size. If you need more free utilities for documents and images, you'll find them at toolifyra.com.

How to Split a PDF and Extract Only the Pages You Need

I'm Sumit Kumar, the founder of TooliFyra. Sometimes you don't need a whole PDF, only page 4, or pages 10 to 15. Maybe a 200-page report has one table you want to share, or a scanned file holds three documents that should be separate. Here's a practical way to pull out exactly what you need without installing anything.

Common reasons to split a PDF

Sharing one chapter or one invoice from a large file

Removing a cover page, blank pages or irrelevant appendices

Meeting a portal's file size limit by uploading in parts

Separating a multi-document scan into individual files

Keeping private pages out of a file you're about to send

 Step-by-step: extracting pages

Open the PDF Splitter.

Upload your PDF.

In the "Pages to Extract" box, type the pages you want. You can use single numbers and ranges separated by commas, for example
1, 3, 5-8
.

Or click pages on the visual grid to select them. There are also Select All and Clear All buttons.

Click Split & Extract, then Download Extracted PDF.

Everything is processed locally in your browser, so a file with personal details isn't uploaded to a server.

 Page range examples

What you want

What to type

Only the first page

1

Pages 3 to 7

3-7

First page and last pages 18 to 20

1, 18-20

Odd selection

2, 4, 9, 12-14

If you're unsure of page numbers, use the visual grid. It's quicker than guessing, especially for scans where printed page numbers don't match the PDF's page order.

 Tips that save time

Check the PDF's page count, not the printed number. A book's chapter might start on printed page 1 but be page 11 in the PDF because of front matter. Always go by the PDF viewer's page number.

Extract, then review. Open the extracted file and flick through it. It's easy to be off by one page.

Keep the original. Extraction creates a new file and doesn't alter your source, but keep it as a safety net.

Combine splitting with other tools. If you extract multiple parts and want them in a different order, you can reassemble them with the PDF merger.

Use it for privacy. Before sharing a bank statement or a contract, extract only the pages that the other person actually needs.

Name outputs clearly. Rename files with something like
invoice-march-pages-2-4.pdf
so you can find them later.

 Splitting vs. deleting pages

Splitting by extracting wanted pages is the same as deleting the unwanted ones, only from the other direction. If you want to keep 18 of 20 pages, it's easier to type
1-17, 20
than to think about what to remove. Use whichever way needs fewer numbers.

 Limits to keep in mind

Very large PDFs depend on your device's memory, so a phone may struggle with a 500 MB file where a laptop copes. Password-protected PDFs need to be unlocked first, and only with the owner's permission. Also, extracting pages doesn't remove hidden metadata from the file, so consider that if you are sharing something sensitive.

 FAQ

Is it free?
Yes, no signup and no watermarks.

Is the file uploaded to your servers?
No. It's processed in your browser.

Can I extract non-consecutive pages?
Yes. Separate numbers and ranges with commas.

Can I split into several files at once?
The tool produces one extracted file per run. To make several files, run it with different page selections.

Will the quality change?
Extraction copies the pages as they are, so the quality should match the original.

 Conclusion

Extracting the right pages takes under a minute and helps you share less and upload faster. If this was useful, there are plenty of other free browser tools waiting at toolifyra.com.

How to Compress a PDF to Fit Email and Upload Limits

I'm Sumit Kumar, founder of TooliFyra. The most common message I get from people using our tools is some version of: "The portal says my PDF is too large." Scanned documents, photo-heavy brochures and exported presentations can easily reach 10 or 20 MB, while government forms, job portals and email servers often accept far less. Here's how to shrink a PDF sensibly, and what trade-offs to expect.

 Why PDFs get so big

A PDF is usually large for one reason: images. A scan from a phone camera or a flatbed scanner stores each page as a high-resolution picture. Ten pages at 3 MB each is already 30 MB. Text-only PDFs, in contrast, are often only a few hundred kilobytes.

Knowing this tells you what compression has to do: reduce the quality or resolution of the page images until the file is smaller.

 Step-by-step compression

Open the PDF Compressor.

Upload your PDF by clicking the box or dragging the file in.

Pick a compression level:

Recommended gives a good balance of quality and size.

Extreme gives the smallest file with visibly lower quality.

Low keeps high quality with a larger file.

Click Compress PDF and check the Original, Compressed and Saved figures.

Download the result and open it to confirm the pages are still readable.

The tool processes files locally in your browser, so private documents are not uploaded to a server. Note that it uses page rasterization to force the size down, which means pages become images. That is effective for size, but text in the compressed file may no longer be selectable.

 Choosing the right level

Start with Recommended. Open the output, zoom to 100% and check small print such as stamps, signatures and fine table text. If everything is legible and the file is under the limit, you're done.

If it's still too big, try Extreme, but check legibility again. If the receiving portal needs to read your document, a smaller file that nobody can read is worse than a slightly larger readable one.

 Practical tips

Remove unneeded pages first. If your file has blank or irrelevant pages, extract only what you need with the PDF splitter before compressing. Fewer pages means a smaller file with no quality loss.

Scan at a sensible resolution. For text documents, 150 to 200 DPI is generally readable. Scanning at 600 DPI creates huge files with little visible benefit.

Use black-and-white for text pages. If colour isn't needed, a grayscale scan is far smaller.

Keep an original copy. Rasterized compression is not reversible. Always keep the uncompressed version.

Compress once. Repeatedly compressing the same file degrades it further. If the first attempt is not enough, go back to the original and choose a stronger level.

Check the limit precisely. Some portals count in KB, with 1 MB being 1024 KB. Aim for a margin, such as 900 KB for a 1 MB limit.

 When compression won't help much

A PDF that is already mostly text, or already compressed, may shrink only a little. In that case, the realistic options are splitting the document into parts, removing pages, or reducing image sizes at the source.

 FAQ

Is this PDF compressor free?
Yes, with no signup.

Will my document be uploaded?
No. Processing happens on your own device.

Will text still be searchable afterwards?
Not necessarily. Because the tool rasterizes pages, treat the output as an image-based PDF.

What is the best setting for email?
Try Recommended first. Most email providers allow attachments of around 20 to 25 MB, so you often need less compression than you think.

Can I compress several PDFs at once?
The tool handles one file at a time. For several files, merge them first with a PDF merger if you want one combined file, then compress it.

 Wrapping up

Good compression is about finding the smallest file that is still comfortable to read. If you want to try more of the free utilities I've built, you can browse them all at toolifyra.com.
