🚨 Last week, during one of our security scans, we detected a critical vulnerability in the Ministry of Women of Paraguay.

Our findings revealed that the main email accounts of the institution, including the minister’s own address, are being exploited for phishing campaigns and identity spoofing.

👉 The root cause: a vulnerability in the email authentication server, allowing attackers to send fraudulent messages that appear to come from official government sources.

Incidents like this not only undermine public trust, but also open the door to large-scale fraud and the misuse of sensitive data.

🔒 New Critical Vulnerability Found in the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Costa Rica.

Our monitoring systems have detected unauthorized access to the email servers of this institution, which are currently being exploited to distribute fraudulent cryptocurrency-related campaigns. These emails are being sent from legitimate Legislative Assembly addresses, granting them apparent authenticity and making them difficult to detect by conventional security filters, thus significantly increasing the risk to potential victims worldwide.

This discovery adds to previous incidents identified by Dymo in other governmental bodies, such as the Public Prosecution Office of the Sultanate of Oman and the National Police of Ecuador, confirming a concerning pattern of vulnerabilities in critical state infrastructures.

We have formally reported this vulnerability to the Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica, along with technical recommendations to mitigate the breach’s impact and prevent future exploitation.

🔒 Dymo has identified a critical vulnerability affecting the Public Prosecution Office of the Sultanate of Oman. Our monitoring systems detected unauthorized access to their email servers, which are currently being exploited to send fraudulent cryptocurrency-related campaigns. These emails are dispatched from legitimate addresses within the institution, granting them apparent authenticity and making detection by conventional security filters difficult, thereby significantly increasing the risk to potential victims worldwide.

This is not the first time we have uncovered such an incident. Several months ago, we reported a similar vulnerability in the highest police authority of Ecuador, which also allowed malicious actors to misuse official infrastructure for illicit purposes. These cases reveal a worrying pattern of weaknesses in protecting critical infrastructures within governmental organizations across different countries.

The vulnerability has been formally reported to the Public Prosecution Office of the Sultanate of Oman, along with a series of technical recommendations to mitigate the breach’s impact and prevent future exploitation.
