Most of them did a decent job, but I always found myself missing something: better analytics, support for specific brokers, clearer performance insights, or simply a workflow that matched how I wanted to track my investments.</p> <p>At some point, I realized I was spending more time working around the limitations of existing tools than actually using them.</p> <p>So I decided to build my own.</p> <p>What started as a small side project quickly grew into something much larger. Along the way I've learned a lot about web development, data processing, product design, SEO, and how to turn an idea into a product that real people use.</p> <p>In this blog, I'll share the technical and product-related lessons I learn while building a portfolio tracking platform from scratch, including:</p> <ul> <li>Architecture and development decisions</li> <li>Working with financial data</li> <li>Feature design and prioritization</li> <li>SEO and organic growth experiments</li> <li>AI-assisted development workflows</li> <li>Challenges, mistakes, and unexpected discoveries</li> </ul> <p>The goal isn't to write generic tutorials, but to document the reality of building a software product: what works, what doesn't, and what I'd do differently next time.</p> <p>I'm looking forward to sharing the journey and learning from the Dev.to community.</p> investing portfolio tracker
