Presenting An E-Learning Website To A School

Originally written on July 30, 2018

This was my first project outside campus project that I had made. I collaborated with Shofiyyah to finish the website. The website was basically for Mrs. Mira’s campus service program (or in Indonesian, it was KKN) team. She guided the team to develop an e-learning system for a school, and the lucky school was Vocational High School of Baabul Kamil in Cikuda, Jatinangor. The website was made by me and Shofiyyah but the contents were created by the campus service program team. The contents they created were presentations, e-books, and videos. They were also helped by the teachers in that school, long before Shofiyyah and me started to develop the website. Shofiyyah was the back end developer and she only used the very basic PHP as the back end while I was the front end developer who used the very basic HTML and CSS as the front end. We were not chosen by Mrs. Mira, but more likely Mrs. Mira opened a recruitment for the developer team of her campus service program team and in that time we signed up for it.

We liked the project so much because it didn’t really need very good skills to develop the desired website but the biggest problem was how to share the website locally using flashdisks.

Oh yes, I forgot to tell how I got to the school. So I went to Mrs. Mira’s room in the lecturers room and we went to the school using Mr. Ino’s car. Shofiyyah couldn’t come because she wasn’t in Jatinangor yet. Some of the campus service program team members were also not coming with lots of reasons. And I really hated that Mrs. Mira was so kind with the team although the team members that were coming only two of them. I was very jealous with that team because they got a very kind lecturer mentoring them. The presentation to the teachers of the school that I thought it would be done by the campus service program team, was done by Mrs. Mira and Mr. Ino. Wow. So nice of her. Those two campus service program team members even didn’t help her but they only sit to watch the presentation.

Back to the development problem. At first Shofiyyah and I used XAMPP mobile but some of the flashdisks that we installed were giving too many errors. A lot of errors meant the website couldn’t be accessed. Unlucky me, the errors came in the presentation time. Although the presenter was not me but Mrs. Mira and Mr. Ino, I still felt guilty about it.

It took very long time to find that USBWebserver was our solution. USBWebserver worked like XAMPP mobile but it was better. Too bad we got this USBWebserver long after Mrs. Mira and her team presented the website to the school so I didn’t know how was it going with the XAMPP mobile version in that school.

This is a good experience for me and Shofiyyah because we got a patent for the website. It took a long time to get the certificate but worth very much because the efforts weren’t not as much as campus projects LOL.

Classification of Movie Reviews in IMDb

Machine Learning subject had two projects to do. The first one was for the midterm score and now I will explain the final project. As the title says, this project is about Classification of Movie Reviews in IMDb using Machine Learning's CNN Method. It's too long so I cut it for the title of this post.

To be honest, I didn't really help much in this project development. I already gave up. I didn't have any clue about Tensorflow shits. At first, I wanted to use the Rotten Tomatoes data since I found a good source code from Github but because my teammates Kevin and Iyon didn't understand how to operate python and other requirements needed, we changed into IMDb data and used Google CoLab as the compiler. This had been explained in Tensorflow Tutorial so it wasn't hard for us. So please check the README document if you want to reuse my project. Here's the Github repository link by the way.

Well I'm glad everything's okay with the program not like the midterm one. We were already messed up for the midterm score so we wanted to give our best in this final project. I was perfecting the paper while Kevin and Iyon focused on the program development. Thanks to Faizin too who helped us to compile the program.

There's nothing to say anymore about this project LOL sorry. Ah yeah I just realise this is the last project in my college life. I will face the thesis project now.

Sentiment Analysis of Tebak Gambar Game's Reviews

Machine Learning subject was taught by Mrs. Helen and Mrs. Intan. When I was taught by Mrs. Intan, it was fun like I felt before in Soft Computing subject classes. Mrs. Helen was being Mrs. Intan's substitution because Mrs. Intan was pregnant. She was actually nice but I didn't like how she taught us. It's too slow and I didn't understand the slides that she used. She was a new lecturer in my department but she already had a lot of experiences in things like this, even more than Mrs. Intan I guess.

The midterm test was made by Mrs. Helen and it was very difficult damnit. I couldn't answer the theoretical questions and I couldn't finish the mathematical questions because of the time limit. There was also the practical midterm test which was the project that I will tell here. She wanted us to make a simple NLP program and present it to her team by team. One of the NLP implementations was sentiment analysis and I used that as my project. My team consisted of Iyon, Kevin, and me. We were completely stupid on this kind of thing but I suggested to find a simple project from Github and used the different data. The project of my team was Sentiment Analysis of Tebak Gambar Game's Playstore Reviews like the title of this post. Tebak Gambar was one of the games in Google Playstore and we used the user reviews for analysing if this game was good or bad based on the user reviews. We were lucky to get some good sentiment analysis codes in Python but the different data that we built wasn't compatible with the codes.

I didn't understand why but there was always a kind of bug that made our data couldn't be analysed perfectly. The codes were perfectly fine with the sample data but when we used the different data we failed. We realised this failure on the day of our presentation time so we rescheduled the presentation to Mrs. Helen. We still didn't manage to fix the codes and Mrs. Helen asked us a lot of ambiguous questions to see if we understood the codes or not. Too bad because there were some codes that we couldn't explain, we were asked to present the program again in the next chance.

In the second chance of presenting our program, we tried to hide the bug. Of course Mrs. Helen would find it anyway because she gathered all programs that were made by the students but whatever. As long as we could pass the presentation we would be free. We could say that's the bug and we couldn't fix it. Go take a look at our program on my Github!

Monica 2.1

Monica development will be ended with this project. I don't know if I will develop Monica anymore in the future but let's hope this idea won't be stolen by anyone...please...readers...

Okay so basically this semester I teamed up again with Rifqy and Raihan because we are the team of Monica 2.0 in the previous semester. Shofi joined too in this semester because her team was splitted up due to her absence this semester because she was in South Korea for a student exchange program. In this semester, Software Development 2 subject was taught by three lecturers but we hardly got a class session on this subject.

We also barely touched this project. Seriously we didn't understand anything about API. Yes, we were required to make an API for the app. We couldn't use Firebase anymore and the API should be original. We even failed the sign in API. There was a time when we were asked to report our progress. Here's the report in a video.

There was also a time when we were asked to make a promotional poster and the poster would be rated by Digital Business students. Monica got the most comments from the Digital Business students LOL. I guess everyone needs this app huh? The slavery in the committees stays strong.

Today we had to present the app to the lecturers as the final score. We were lucky we got the early session so that there was only Mrs. Mira who assessed us. We could pass the presentation easily haha. Oh yeah as usual I linked the repository. Go check this out! Well, it's not working so don't expect too much.

Before telling the data warehouse project, I want to tell the condition of this project compared with the Soft Computing project. I worked on this project along with Shofi as my teammate. The lecturer of Data Warehouse and Soft Computing was Mrs. Intan. Mrs. Intan liked paper a lot, that’s why both of these projects required a paper to be submitted. Yesterday was the paper submission of Soft Computing project and the exam day. It was also the exam day of Data Warehouse but the paper submission was today, that’s why the story of this project is told a day after it. In case you didn’t notice, the date that I took as the posted date of each project that I’ve done was always the presentation or the submission day.

Okay, let’s get to the story. To be honest this title is too long. I hate the title but I don’t know how to make it short. As the title said, this project is about Diseases Diagnosis and Patient Rooms Analysis in Hasan Sadikin Hospital Bandung.

This project was already announced as a final project of this subject for a long time, even when we started this semester. During this semester, Shofi and I changed the topic several times and finally we decided to use this hospital topic. Although there were already too many teams using the hospital as the topic, luckily no one talked about the disease diagnosis and patient rooms analysis. Every week, we had to report the progress of the project to the lab assistants. That’s why we didn’t really have a bad time doing this project rather than the Soft Computing project.

Data Warehouse is kinda similar with Soft Computing, it required a dataset. But for this project, we made the dataset by ourselves. Yes, the dataset was random and more like a sample data. We only needed to make some OLAP results like ROLLUP, DRILLDOWN, etc. for this project. The only thing that I hate from this project was the process of making the dataset. I literally typed one by one without any generator. The rest of it such as making the OLAP results was not really difficult. We were already taught well by Mrs. Intan and the lab assistants. The exam which we did yesterday wasn’t difficult as well, and mostly the questions were about our Data Warehouse project. I just didn’t understand why we had to submit the paper a day after Soft Computing. I wished Soft Computing was the last project rather than this project 🙃

Anyway, check this project in my Github as always! Thanks!

Prostate Cancer Risk Diagnosis Using Evolving Fuzzy Systems

I collaborated with Shofi on this project, along with the Data Warehouse project that I will tell after this post. As the title said, it’s about “Prostate Cancer Risk Diagnosis Using Evolving Fuzzy Systems”. The method that we used, evolving fuzzy systems or EFS, was chosen by Mrs. Intan as the lecturer.

To be honest, Mrs. Intan explained a lot about soft computing. I liked how she lectured. It was super detailed and challenging at the same time. What I didn’t like was the speed of how she lectured. She talked too fast 😭 I couldn’t follow her pace so I usually didn’t take a very well written note of her lectures. Most of the soft computing lectures she gave to the students were in English since there were very few Indonesian researchers who focused on soft computing. She told us she wasn’t good in English but she proved to us that if we wanted to learn, there’s the way.

Soft computing is the door of real artificial intelligence. If we want to learn how AI thinks, then we should learn soft computing. In this subject, Mrs. Intan was too good to be a lecturer because we didn’t have to chunk all of the methods that we’ve learned but she would choose one method to each team. My team got EFS.

It’s hard to find an EFS project because this method was too old and almost nobody would use it. In the end, we decided to make it by ourselves but using EFSLab as the supporting software. You can download EFSLab here. We used Prostate Cancer Diagnosis as our topic because we were inspired by a paper that wasn’t explained well (that’s why we couldn’t use it as our project). The dataset was downloaded from Kaggle, here’s the link.

The trials and errors were done mostly by Shofi while I was focused on the paper writing. The paper was completed enough to describe how our project was made and how to use the program so go take a look on my Github to see my repository.

Today was the day of the paper submission but we were surprised to see that we had to take a final exam too! Luckily, the exam wasn’t too hard. It’s harder to do this project rather than the exam though.

Here comes the project that made my life hard along with the Software Development 1 project. The lecturer of these subjects were Mr. Erick but I really didn’t feel that we were taught enough by him. I felt bad towards him because he had to handle two difficult subjects with big final projects.

Enough with the introduction. This time I want to share my Human-Computer Interaction project. Although the subject’s name looks cool but in fact we didn’t get taught anything besides VR and AR stuff. That’s why the final project is also about VR apps, specifically VR games.

I teamed up with the same team with Software Development 1 team, which were Rifqy and Raihan. The VR game that we made was a perspective training game. Simply, we had to find a path to get to the next level. It was Raihan’s idea and Rifqy came up with the G-Cube name. This VR game was built using Unity and Blender software.

I had to admit that most of the project making was done by Raihan. I didn’t understand a single thing about Unity. I supported on doing the designs and some 3D assets (which were not used).

I don’t know anything to say, and as always I share the project in my Github. Please fork us if you think it’s good!

This final project had actually nothing special to say. I just wanted to thank Bening and Shofi for being a good team during this semester and finally we could finish the Network Management subject with this final subject. It was basically codes using Cacti. To be honest I almost didn't understand anything since I usually helped on the documentations instead of trying Cacti by myself. Bening was a student with Computer Network as her interest and she was our team's big help to understand this thing. I felt lucky that I chose this subject as my minor subject this semester because I felt no worries on my final score.

To get a look on my final project, you can visit this repository in my Github. Hope it will be helpful for anyone too.

Monica 2.0

Hey, hey Monica!

It’s been a while since I've used Monica when I won in GEMASTIK 11. Now that I worked in Kargo, I felt that my Monica design was very bad. I was using Adobe Photoshop while almost every good UI/UX designer is using the proper UI/UX tool like Adobe XD, Figma, Sketch, etc. I learned a lot from Kargo and I implied it on my Monica design. That’s why I named this Monica project as Monica 2.0.

Basically I changed the whole design from the color palette, base fonts, icons, to layouts. I only keep the Monica logo in text which used OneDirection font LOL. You can take a look at the differences from my Behance. This is version 1.0 and this is version 2.0. Ah yes, I used Figma to make the prototypes. Bye Marvelapp. Marvelapp was actually good but I need to put out all of my abilities without using templates. I might not use templates but because I was not an illustrator so I used the open source illustrations from Undraw.co and icons from a Figma templates website.

Thanks to Rifqy and Raihan’s hard work as always. They were handling the codes and video editing. Yeah, it is real now and Raihan’s work is not useless anymore. This project was not for User Interface Design subject but Software Development 1 project! We were still using the old repository that was used for GEMASTIK 11 but we really changed all of the designs inside the app.

Anyway go check the video of this project on YouTube! I embedded the video below. It’s not really good to be shared actually but whatever.

And as always, check my project in Github. I usually make the repository private though because it’s my original project so I don’t want to share it as an open source project.

Shape and Color Detector using EmguCV

To be honest, I didn’t really think too much about this project. Once I knew how to deal with a programming project, I would choose that way. I didn’t say that I didn’t understand anything about image processing and analysis but sometimes the lecturers were very annoying. They asked us to make a project in a very short time. This project was one of them. I didn’t want to waste my time to build a new project because I knew my skills were not as good as the people on the internet.

Thanks to Nezio, the person who worked on this project, I could reuse his project and make a better version of it. I fixed some bugs and redesign the UI. This was actually a very basic but detailed project. We can detect shape and color using this program. Check the project in my Github as always!

Line Follower Robot with Webcam

Robotics subject was not the favorite subject of me. I disliked this subject because I didn’t have any interests to make robots. I wanted to learn Artificial Intelligence specifically about how machine learned. After finishing this subject, my mind had changed a little about robotics. If we want to learn Artificial Intelligence then robotics subject is the basics. We can’t understand how machine learns and works if we don’t understand how to make robots.

Robots in this time aren’t as robots in the past. The definition of robot is not “a machine who help people” anymore but better to say it “a program who help people”. We can make any dead things helpful if we add programs in it. That’s why Internet of Things came.

I thought this subject only taught me the very basics of robots. We should learn it more if we were interested in it. The problem of this subject was the final project that we should make. Our lecturer forced us to make a robot program which had a computer vision in it and also it should move. With a lot of deficiencies, my team which was contained Shofi and Raihan chose to make a line follower wheelchair program.

At first we thought it would be easy since we were already taught about how to make a line follower. But it was far from our expectations. Finally we chose to use a small motor instead rather than the wheelchair because the wheelchair was really complex. The small motor type was DFRobot L298P and it was already in the robotics lab so we didn’t have to buy it. We also used smartphone camera as the webcam which was needed for the computer vision and a blue tape for making the way.

The hard process of making this project was the programs. We were really thankful to Ibnu’s team and Senior Umar’s team for the Python and Arduino programs as our references because without them we didn’t know what to make, seriously. You can check the programs in my Github here.

On the day of presentation time to the lecturer, we showed it without any openings or greetings OMG. Actually we still tried the robot but the lecturer thought we already showed it for the final presentation LOL. I knew it wasn’t the best presentation but I hoped we would get a good score for this project. Unfortunately, because we were already too happy to end this project we forgot to take the picture or video of this project. So sad. It’s okay, just let it go.

This is my Cryptography final project which is a cryptography chatting app made by Flutter. Thanks to Angga and Islam which were my team members who helped me to do this project. This project was initialized when I was in Jakarta to have an interview with Shopee last week. Last week everyone should present the idea and Angga made the mockups initiatively so we were safe. And today we presented our finished app in front of the Cryptography practical study assistants. I actually just learned Flutter not as expert as Islam so he made almost of the codes in the app. We gave our best in the presentation and the practical study assistants gave us the appreciations for this project. Wow.

You can check the project as usual in my Github here. The original repository belongs to Islam and I just forked it. Ah yes, note for the project: the cipher that we can use only the autokey cipher. The columnar transposition cipher doesn’t work because array isn’t supported in Flutter. That makes me wondered why the practical study assistants appreciated us. Is that because we use a new kind of programming language? But still, I am happy that they were so kind to us and I hope they can give us good scores.
