I Built a Tool That Turns Google Forms Into Secure Exams.

I have just built a tool that can turn Google Forms into secure exams. I have written a few trainee exams and realised most companies use Google Forms or tools that rely on Google Forms for these exams.

For instance, some firms used a timed Google Form for their first assessment, while others used Quilgo's Google Form add-on for their speed test. The problem with this setting is how insecure and expensive it can be for examiners/students (How do you track student cheating?).

This is why we're building Proctored by Peppubuild. We're turning Google Forms into secure exams. What's better? Proctored is open-source. Our add-on has just been accepted at the Google Workspace Marketplace, and we're two days away from launch.

If you use Google Forms, Google Classrooms as a recruiter or educator, this will interest you. Here's our demo video: https://youtu.be/tIELmA-udiE

Here's how you can support us:

Give us an upvote and leave reviews on Product Hunt

Give us a star on GitHub

Proctored by Peppubuild: Secure exams with Google Forms via Producthunt

New Feature Alert (Templates).

Suppose you've been following our last publication, in which we launched Peppubuild (a no-code tool that allows you to create websites and web applications without writing any code). In that case, we're announcing our new template feature.

Initially, you can only create a new project (websites or web applications) from an empty workplace. However, members of the community have made contributions with templates.

 Collaborate

The Collaborate template is a one-page website that showcases the features of a corporate website. You can check out this YouTube video on how we're able to create and publish a corporate website in 5 minutes, using Peppubuild and Netlify.

 Design Agency

Design and marketing agencies can utilize the Design Agency template, to build their landing page. With Peppubuild, you can attach multiple pages for your Design Agency website.

 John Schmidt

John Schmidt is a personal website or portfolio website, where users can showcase their work.

 Conclusion

You can check out other templates in Peppubuild. Peppubuild is free as it is currently in development. Take a look at our repository on GitHub (https://github.com/Peppu-Group/Peppubuild), contribute, and leave a star for us. Join our community on Discord. Let us know which features you'd like to add!

Here's the final website created with the collaborate template: https://rapture-peppubuild.netlify.app/

Peppubuild is a no-code platform that allows you to create your website without writing any code. Creating a website can be daunting, especially if you're new to coding or website design. Peppubuild simplifies this journey, providing a user-friendly platform that allows you to develop websites while mastering foundational web development concepts. Think of it as a blend of creativity and technology, where education meets innovation.

Why Build a Website with Peppubuild?

Peppubuild offers a low-barrier entry into web development. Its features include:

Pre-made Templates: Start quickly with customizable website layouts.

Visual Editing: See your changes in real-time without diving deep into code.

Code View: For those who want to learn HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, a code editor is integrated to foster hands-on learning.

Interactive Tutorials: Step-by-step guides ensure you’re never stuck.

Getting Started with Your First Website

To start a project, you first need to get authenticated. Follow the link above if you’re not authenticated yet. Next, click on the
New Project
button as seen below.

Click on Empty Project and follow the instructions to name your project. Next, you’ll be redirected to the project’s workspace.

 Peppubuild's Toolbar

First, we will explore Peppubuild's interface. This is what your editor should look like. I have numbered the icons of the toolbar from the left to the right.

Icon 1: This is the block icon. Blocks are pre-built components that you can drag into the editor to form parts of your website. For instance, there are text and link blocks that you can drag into the editor. When you click on the button, the different blocks available open in the right side panel.

Icon 2: This icon is already active, it is the Style Manager. Since the editor is empty, you only have a text instructing you to select an element first. From the style manager, you can add color, make texts larger, and perform other actions.

Icon 3: The Ruler icon is useful for
Experts
who don’t care about web responsiveness since they can drag blocks into any position in the editor. This affects the elements and page alignment. Therefore, you should only use this if you’re a technical developer and can re-align the page.

Icon 4: The Delete icon allows you to delete everything on the page. If you’d only like to delete individual components on the page, click on it and use the delete button that pops around the component.

Icon 5: This is the Undo icon, while you can undo changes with
CTRL+Z
you can also use the Undo button. Since we don’t have a redo button, you can use
CTRL+Y
.

Icon 6: This is the Code Block icon, which allows you to view the code from your page in
HTML
and
CSS
format. As you navigate to a new page, the code for each page changes to correspond to the page’s content.

Icon 7: This is the Fullscreen icon, which allows you to expand the editor into the full page.

Icon 8: The Preview icon allows you to view the content of the editor, without the side panels.

Icon 9: This is the View component icon. When active, it shows the guide dotted line around each component.

Icon 10: The Pages icon opens in the right sidebar. It contains various buttons for managing pages and publishing the project. From
Add pages
, to
Add web title
, to
Publish project
.

Each project has an
index
page, which is the home page. Please do not delete or edit the name of this page. You can add new pages with the
Add Page
button.

Icon 11: The Device icon is useful for checking your project across different devices, from desktop to mobile devices.

Icon 12: The Layers icon shows a tree of all components in the editor and the elements they contain.

Icon 13: The Logo navigates to the dashboard, instead of using the back button in the browser.

Icon 14: The Properties tab shows the properties of each element. When you drag a block into the editor, you can check and set properties in the properties tab. For instance, links have a
Href
property, which accepts and sets the
URL
of the link.

Icon 15: The Add Data button is for web applications. This allows you to add external data.

 Peppubuild’s Block

Peppubuild has a lot of useful blocks for building your page, arranged into different categories.

Navigation Bar: This contains the top and bottom navigation and a sidebar.

Pages: This contains blocks for a ready-made page template. You should start with this block if you need help setting up your website.

Orientation: Blocks that change the orientation and layout of the page, like the
flex center
for arranging contents in the center of the page.

Section: Contains blocks like the
hero section
that takes up a whole section of the page.

Elements: The elements that make up the website are found in the elements section.

Forms: The blocks for creating a complete form are found here. The
bootstrap
form is your best shot if you’re new to web development.

Animations: Carousels and other animations for your website are found in the animations section.

Basic: The basic block contains basic elements for your site like
images
,
links
, and
texts
.

 Conclusion: What's Next?

In the next part of this series, we’ll dive deeper into styling your website, integrating basic interactivity with JavaScript, and publishing your site for the world to see!

With Peppubuild, building your first website is no longer a challenge—it’s an exciting journey into the digital world. Start building today!

Give us a star on Github if you like our work.

Hello Everyone, I have spent the last six months building a no-code web builder for websites and web applications. The goal is total freedom with your code to avoid vendor lock-in. Therefore, users can export or publish their code on popular platforms like Netlify (with one click).

Website: https://peppubuild.com

 Why Another No-code Builder?

No-code builders have always been associated with vendor lock-in and scalability issues. For instance, the application end product is written with proprietary software, which means you can't use it outside the no-code platform. With Peppubuild, you get a Vue.js application.

For scalability issues, users can always add customized code or take out their project from the platform. We're still in our early phase, I'd love your feedback and suggestions.
