`

From 31 to 94: Real SEO Results From 145 Freelance Projects (And the Free Tool I Built to Audit Them)

I want to show you something different from the usual portfolio post.

Not a list of technologies I know. Not a screenshot of a Figma mockup. Not "here are my GitHub repos."

Real before and after numbers from real client projects, the exact SEO process behind them, and a free tool I built to run the same audits faster on every new project.

My name is Sohaib Younas. I am a freelance web designer and SEO specialist based in Sargodha, Pakistan. 4+ years, 145+ projects, 100+ clients across the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, India, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan. Stack: HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap 5, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, WordPress with Elementor Pro, WooCommerce, Wix, and Shopify.

Full portfolio with screenshots at sohaibyounas076.github.io/portfolio.

The Case Studies With Actual Numbers

Allama Iqbal Law College: 31 to 94

This is the one I get asked about most. A law college in Sargodha, Pakistan with a site that had an SEO score of 31 and 18 critical issues when I started. Missing title tags, no meta descriptions, broken heading structure, images with no alt text, no schema markup, slow load time.

I rebuilt the site on WordPress and fixed every issue from the first line of code. Schema markup on every page. Unique titles and meta descriptions under 160 characters on every page. One H1 per page containing the primary keyword. Image alt text on everything. Internal links connecting every key page to at least two or three related pages.

Final score: 94. The site now ranks on Google for its branded search terms. Before the rebuild it did not appear in the top 10 pages for its own name.

The Nutrition King: 56 to 96, Number 1 Google Ranking

A WooCommerce supplements store in the UK. On-page score of 56 when I started. 13 critical issues including duplicate meta descriptions across product pages, missing structured data for products, and thin content on category pages.

After full on-page optimization: score 96. Number 1 Google ranking for its primary product keyword. This is a competitive category in the UK supplements market, not a local niche with no competition.

HisColumn.com: 27% to 96%, 12.78K Google Clicks

Built this WooCommerce fashion store from scratch and followed it with a complete SEO overhaul. Starting score: 27 percent. After optimization: 96 percent. Over 3 months: 12,780 real Google Search clicks, 17,640 impressions, 42.5% average click-through rate.

The CTR number is the one that tells the real story. A 42.5% average CTR means the title tags and meta descriptions were compelling enough that nearly half of everyone who saw the result in Google clicked it. That does not happen by accident. It happens because the meta copy was written for the searcher, not for the algorithm.

Beem Sports: First Page, 65,000+ Pageviews

A live sports streaming platform. Took it from no visibility to first-page Google rankings for competitive cricket and live sports keywords. 65,000+ pageviews. The challenge here was competing in a category with established international platforms.

EMS Tutoring UK: 574+ Weekly Users, 13.9% Weekly Growth

A UK tutoring platform. On-page optimization, schema, local SEO, and backlink building. 574+ weekly users with 13.9% weekly growth. The local SEO piece was critical here because tutoring clients search with location intent.

Regency Wraps: +73% Impressions, +23% Clicks

A cooking accessories brand established since 1985. Technical SEO and backlinks. +73% impressions and +23% clicks in one week. When you have an established brand with an existing index, fixing the technical foundation shows results faster than a new domain.

What the Process Actually Looks Like

Every project starts with an audit. I run each page through the SEO Analyzer at Utilvance.com before touching anything. It gives me an instant on-page score with specific flags: missing meta description, wrong heading structure, no alt text, keyword not in key positions, thin content.

Why did I build my own audit tool instead of using an existing one? Because every free tool I found was either buried behind an account wall, slow due to ad scripts, or gave vague output that did not tell me specifically what to fix. The SEO Analyzer runs in your browser, needs no account, and tells you exactly what is wrong in under 30 seconds.

After the audit, I fix in this order:

First, title tags and meta descriptions. These are the highest impact fixes and the fastest to implement. I write them with the Meta Tag Generator at Utilvance.com, which previews exactly how they will look in Google search results before I publish. Character counts, truncation preview, the full picture before anything goes live.

Second, heading structure. One H1 per page. It contains the primary keyword. H2 for main sections. H3 for subsections. Never skip a level. I check every page individually because CMS templates frequently inject extra H1 tags that are invisible in the editor but visible in the source.

Third, image alt text. Every image. Descriptive, specific, written for a person who cannot see the image rather than keyword-stuffed for an algorithm.

Fourth, internal links. Every key page links to at least two or three related pages. This tells search engines which pages are most important and how content connects. It also keeps visitors on the site longer.

Fifth, schema markup. Article schema on blog posts. Product schema on product pages. LocalBusiness schema on business sites. FAQ schema on pages with question-and-answer content. Every page type gets the relevant structured data.

The Tool I Built Alongside Client Work

Every technique I use on client projects is applied to my own platform: Utilvance.com.

Utilvance is a free browser-based tool platform with 55+ calculators, converters, and utilities. Finance tools. Health calculators. SEO utilities. Developer tools. Everything runs locally in your browser. No account. No ads. No data sent to any server.

I built it for two reasons. First, I needed a project where I owned every decision and could show the real results publicly. Second, the tools I was using in my daily workflow were fragmented across ten different sites, most of them slow and ad-heavy.

The tools I use on client SEO work are all on Utilvance:

The SEO Analyzer for on-page audits. The Meta Tag Generator for writing and previewing title tags and meta descriptions. The Word Counter for checking content length against target minimums. The Password Generator and QR Code Generator for client deliverables. The JSON Formatter and Base64 Encoder for development work.

If you want to check what SEO setup looks like when it is done correctly from the first line of code, open the source of any page on Utilvance.com. The title, meta description, canonical URL, schema markup, and heading structure are all there and correct on every page.

What These Numbers Actually Mean

A score going from 31 to 94 is not a trick. It means 63 specific on-page factors that were wrong are now correct. Each one is a signal Google uses to understand what a page is about and whether it deserves to rank.

The results that follow, rankings, clicks, impressions, are the downstream effect of getting those signals right. They do not come from gaming an algorithm. They come from building pages that Google can read, understand, and trust.

That is the only process I know. It is also the process I used on every page of Utilvance.com.

If you are working on a site and want to check where it stands, run it through the SEO Analyzer at Utilvance.com. Free, no account, result in 30 seconds.

Full portfolio and SEO case studies with screenshots at sohaibyounas076.github.io/portfolio.
`

From 31 to 94: Real SEO Results From 145 Freelance Projects (And the Free Tool I Built to Audit Them)

`

7 Free Browser Tools Every Web Developer Should Bookmark in 2026 (No Signup, No Ads)

Most developer tool sites do one of three things wrong. They require an account before you can use the tool. They load slowly because of ad scripts. Or they work once and break the next time you visit because the free tier got paywalled.

I built Utilvance.com to fix that. 55+ free browser tools, everything runs locally in your browser, no data sent to any server, no account, no ads. This post covers the 7 tools I use most in my own web development and SEO work, why each one earns its bookmark, and what makes it worth choosing over the alternatives.

1. JSON Formatter

Pasting raw JSON into a browser console to check structure works until the payload gets large. At that point you need indentation, collapsible nodes, and syntax highlighting to find the key you are looking for.

The JSON Formatter at Utilvance.com takes any valid JSON string and returns it formatted, indented, and color-coded. It also validates the input and flags syntax errors before you waste time debugging a malformed payload.

Everything runs in the browser. You can paste API responses, configuration files, or webhook payloads without them leaving your machine. For anyone working with REST APIs or debugging backend responses, this is a daily use tool.

2. Base64 Encoder and Decoder

Base64 encoding comes up constantly in web development. Basic auth headers, embedding images as data URIs, encoding binary data for transmission, decoding JWT payloads to inspect claims. Every time you reach for a search engine to find a Base64 tool you land on a site that wants your email address or serves three ads before the input box loads.

The Base64 Encoder and Decoder at Utilvance.com handles both directions. Paste your string, click encode or decode, copy the result. The encoding happens client-side so sensitive strings like auth credentials never touch a server.

3. SEO Analyzer

Every page you ship should pass a basic on-page SEO check before it goes live. Title tag length, meta description, heading structure, keyword placement, image alt text. Doing this manually across every page is tedious and easy to miss.

The SEO Analyzer at Utilvance.com takes a URL and returns an on-page score with specific flags. Run it on any page before launch and after major content updates. It catches the issues that hurt rankings without requiring a paid Ahrefs or SEMrush subscription for a basic audit.

I use this on every client site I build. It consistently catches missing meta descriptions and heading structure issues that slip through during development.

4. Meta Tag Generator

Writing title tags and meta descriptions manually is fine for one page. Doing it across 20 pages while keeping character counts in range and previewing how they will look in search results is where a dedicated tool saves time.

The Meta Tag Generator at Utilvance.com generates the HTML for your title and meta description tags, shows a live preview of how they render in a Google search result, and flags when you are over or under the recommended character range.

Use it alongside the SEO Analyzer as a two-step pre-launch checklist. Generate the tags here, verify they are in place with the analyzer.

5. Color Picker and Hex to RGB Converter

Moving colors between formats is a constant friction point in frontend work. A designer hands you a hex value. Your CSS framework wants RGB. The client wants HSL for consistency with their design system. Doing the conversion from memory or building a quick script every time is slower than it needs to be.

The Color Picker at Utilvance.com converts between hex, RGB, and HSL in both directions. You can also use the color picker to sample a color and get all three formats at once. No browser extension required.

6. Password Generator

Generating secure passwords during development comes up more than most developers plan for. Database credentials, API keys for test environments, admin accounts for staging sites, dummy user passwords for seeding test data.

The Password Generator at Utilvance.com lets you set length and character type rules, generates the password locally, and never sends the output anywhere. For security-conscious development work, local generation matters more than convenience features.

7. Lorem Ipsum Generator

Every developer needs placeholder text at some point. The lorem ipsum generator at Lorem Ipsum websites always comes with an excessive amount of JavaScript, fonts loading from third-party servers, and sometimes ad scripts that trigger content blockers.

The Lorem Ipsum Generator at Utilvance.com generates placeholder text by word count, sentence count, or paragraph count. It loads in under a second and adds nothing to your browser network log.

Bonus Tools Worth Knowing About

Beyond the core seven, a few more tools at Utilvance.com come up regularly in development work.

The Word Counter is useful for keeping page content within target ranges. The Case Converter handles camelCase, snake_case, UPPER_CASE, and title case conversions for variable naming and content formatting. The Text Reverser is a quick check for palindrome logic. The QR Code Generator produces clean scannable codes for any URL or string without a watermark.

For the financial side of freelance web work, the Freelance Hourly Rate Calculator calculates your minimum viable rate based on income target, billable hours, and business costs. The Profit Margin Calculator and ROI Calculator handle project pricing math without a spreadsheet.

Why Browser-Based Matters for Developer Tools

Running tools in the browser rather than server-side has a real security implication for development work. API responses, auth credentials, configuration files, and internal URLs never leave your machine when the processing happens client-side.

This is not a marketing claim. You can verify it by opening your browser network tab while using any tool on Utilvance.com. The only requests are the initial page load. No data is sent after you start using the tool.

For developers working with sensitive client data or internal systems, that distinction is worth checking before you paste anything into an online tool.

All 55+ tools are available at Utilvance.com. Free, no account, no ads.
`

`

I Checked 50 Small Business Websites With a Free SEO Analyzer. Here Is What I Found.

I spend a lot of time auditing small business websites as part of my freelance work. Plumbers, tutors, law firms, ecommerce stores, local restaurants. In the last few months I ran 50 of them through the SEO Analyzer on Utilvance.com and tracked the results.

The same problems kept appearing. Not just once or twice. Across almost every single site.

This post is about those patterns, what causes them, and what to fix first.

Why I Used a Free Browser Tool Instead of a Paid Suite

Most SEO audit tools cost money. Ahrefs, SEMrush, and Screaming Frog are powerful but priced for agencies and large teams. A freelancer auditing a local plumber does not need a 200-point crawl report. They need to know whether the page has a title, a meta description, proper headings, and a reasonable keyword structure.

The SEO Analyzer at Utilvance.com does exactly that. It runs in your browser, needs no account, and gives you an instant on-page score with specific flags. I used it to run a quick first pass on all 50 sites before deciding which ones needed deeper work.

Here is what came back.

Problem 1: Missing or Duplicate Meta Descriptions (Found on 41 of 50 Sites)

This was the single most common issue. Roughly 82% of the sites I checked had either no meta description at all, or the same generic description copied across every page of the site.

The meta description does not directly affect your ranking. What it does affect is your click-through rate. It is the text a potential customer reads in Google before deciding whether to click your result. A blank or auto-generated description tells Google to guess, and Google's guess is usually a random sentence from the page that means nothing out of context.

Fix

Write a unique meta description for every key page. Keep it under 160 characters. Write it for the person searching, not for the algorithm. The Meta Tag Generator on Utilvance.com lets you build and preview your title and meta description before adding it to your site so you can see exactly how it will look in search results.

Problem 2: Wrong Heading Structure (Found on 38 of 50 Sites)

Heading structure was broken on 76% of the sites. The most common versions were multiple H1 tags on a single page, no H1 at all, or H3 tags used directly after H1 with no H2 in between.

Search engines use your heading hierarchy to understand what a page is about and how the content is organized. A page with three H1 tags gives no clear signal about what the primary topic is. A page with no H1 gives even less.

Fix

One H1 per page. It should contain your primary keyword and describe exactly what the page covers. H2 for main sections. H3 for subsections within those sections. Never skip a level. The SEO Analyzer flags heading structure issues immediately. Run your homepage through it before anything else.

Problem 3: No Alt Text on Images (Found on 35 of 50 Sites)

70% of sites had images with no alt text. Some had dozens of images with empty alt attributes or alt text like "image001.jpg."

Alt text serves two purposes. It tells search engines what an image contains, which matters for image search and for reinforcing page relevance. It also makes your site accessible to users relying on screen readers.

Fix

Every image on your site needs a descriptive alt tag. It does not need to be long. "Emergency plumber fixing burst pipe in Cardiff kitchen" is better than "plumber" and far better than nothing. Write it for a person who cannot see the image. Check your full on-page SEO checklist on the Utilvance blog for a complete image optimization guide.

Problem 4: Page Titles Too Short, Too Long, or Missing (Found on 33 of 50 Sites)

66% of sites had title tag problems. The three most common versions were titles under 30 characters that gave no useful information, titles over 70 characters that get truncated in search results, and pages with no title tag at all.

Your title tag is the first thing a user sees in Google. It is also one of the strongest on-page signals for what your page ranks for. A title like "Home" or "Welcome to Our Site" tells Google nothing and convinces no one to click.

Fix

Every page needs a unique title between 50 and 60 characters. It should include your primary keyword and your business name. Use the Meta Tag Generator to write and preview your titles before publishing. The character counter built into the tool tells you exactly when you are in the right range.

Problem 5: Keyword Not Appearing in Key Positions (Found on 29 of 50 Sites)

58% of sites had their primary keyword missing from at least one critical position. The positions that matter most are the title tag, the H1, the first paragraph of body text, and the meta description.

A local plumber's homepage that never uses the word "plumber" in any of these positions is essentially invisible to anyone searching that term. This sounds obvious. It is still the fifth most common issue I found.

Fix

Decide on one primary keyword per page. Then make sure it appears in the title, the H1, the first 100 words of body content, and the meta description. Do not stuff it. One natural appearance in each location is enough. The SEO Analyzer checks keyword density and flags pages where your target term is missing or overused.

Problem 6: No Internal Links Between Related Pages (Found on 26 of 50 Sites)

52% of sites were essentially a collection of isolated pages with no internal linking between them. The homepage linked to the services page. The services page linked to the contact page. Nothing else was connected.

Internal links do two things. They help search engines understand which pages are most important and how content relates to each other. They also keep visitors on your site longer by showing them relevant next steps.

Fix

Every page should link to at least two or three other relevant pages on your site. A blog post about emergency plumbing should link to your emergency callout service page. Your services page should link to relevant blog posts. Build the connections that make sense for a human reader and the algorithm benefits will follow. Read the full SEO score improvement guide on Utilvance for a step by step internal linking strategy.

Problem 7: Slow Load Time on Mobile (Found on 22 of 50 Sites)

44% of sites loaded slowly on mobile. This was the least common issue on the list but arguably the most expensive one. Google's mobile-first indexing means your mobile page speed directly affects your ranking, not just your user experience.

The most common causes I found were uncompressed images, too many third-party scripts loading on every page, and themes built for desktop that were never optimized for mobile.

Fix

Run your site through Google PageSpeed Insights. Target a score above 80 on mobile. Start with image compression and defer non-critical scripts. Most speed problems come from a small number of heavy assets that are easy to identify once you look.

The Pattern Behind All of These

Every one of these problems shares the same root cause. The business owner or developer who built the site focused on how it looks and never checked how it reads to a search engine.

A site can have a beautiful design, a clear service offering, and real customer value, and still rank nowhere because the basics were never set up correctly.

None of these fixes require expensive tools or technical expertise. They require knowing what to look for and taking 30 minutes to check each one.

Where to Start Right Now

Start with the SEO Analyzer on Utilvance.com. Run your homepage through it right now. The result will tell you within 30 seconds which of these seven problems your site has.

Then use the Meta Tag Generator to fix your titles and descriptions. Check your Word Counter to make sure your key pages have enough content. Use the on-page SEO checklist from the Utilvance blog to work through the rest systematically.

Quick Reference: Tools You Need

Audit

SEO Analyzer - Check your on-page SEO score instantly.

Fix Meta Tags

Meta Tag Generator - Build and preview your title and description.

Check Content Length

Word Counter - Make sure your pages have enough content to rank.

Fix Text Formatting

Case Converter - Fix heading capitalization fast.

Read the Full Guide

I Built 55+ Free Browser Tools With Zero Signup and Zero Ads. Here Is What I Learned.

`

I kept landing on calculator sites that made me watch an ad before showing a result. I got tired of it and built my own.

That was the start of Utilvance.com. What started as a personal fix turned into 55+ free browser-based tools covering finance, health, conversions, and everyday utilities. No signup. No ads. No data sent to any server. Everything runs entirely in your browser.

Here is what I learned building it.

1. People Do Not Want Software. They Want Answers.

Every tool on the site does one job. You open it, enter your numbers, and get the result. No account, no onboarding, no tutorial.

The loan calculator shows your monthly payment and total interest. The BMI calculator shows your score and what it means. The EMI calculator gives you the exact installment figure your bank should be quoting. Done.

People do not want to learn a tool. They want the number. Every design decision on Utilvance points toward that.

2. Browser-Only Is a Feature, Not a Limitation.

Running everything in the browser means zero backend costs, zero data liability, and instant load times. Your inputs never leave your device.

The password generator generates locally. The base64 encoder encodes locally. The compound interest calculator runs the math locally. For tools handling financial or health data, this matters more than people realize.

3. SEO Done Right From Day One Saves Months Later.

Every tool page has proper schema markup, clean meta tags, and fast load times. I did not bolt SEO on after building. It was part of the first line of code on every page.

I also built a meta tag generator and an SEO analyzer into the tools. Those two alone tell you within seconds whether a page is set up correctly.

4. A Blog That Actually Helps Beats a Blog That Fills Space.

Beyond the tools, Utilvance has a blog covering SEO, personal finance, and productivity. Every post uses real data and real numbers.

The on-page SEO checklist uses actual ranking factors. The high yield savings accounts post compares real rates from FDIC data, Bank of England figures, and RBA numbers. The freelancing guide gives steps that work without a portfolio. No filler.

5. The Hardest Part Is Not Building. It Is Being Found.

Building 55 tools took time. Getting Google to index and rank them takes longer. I am currently submitting to directories, writing on Medium, and publishing here on Dev.to to build backlinks and authority. It is a slow process and I am in the middle of it.

What Is Live Right Now
