🚀 Tavrn Alpha Has Launched!

After weeks of building, the Tavrn alpha is officially live. Apply now at blog.tavrn.top/alpha-application to get early access.

After weeks of intense development, late nights, unexpected setbacks (and more than a few “why won’t this work” moments), it’s finally here: Tavrn Alpha is officially live.

Tavrn is now available — in its first public form — at tavrn.top. 🎉

 ✨ What’s New

This alpha release brings together the best of what we’ve been building since day one:

Real-time chat with servers, roles, and DMs

A calmer, cleaner platform feel

Thoughtful community-first features like the AHA! Program

An entirely rebuilt backend after a major setback (stronger than ever)

You’ll get a peek at the future of Tavrn… and help shape it too.

 📝 How to Join

Access is invite-only during alpha, and you’ll need to fill out an application to get in.

🔗 Apply here

Applications are open until August 31st. Once you apply, you’ll receive a confirmation within 24 hours and a final decision within 2-3 days.

 🚪 What Comes Next

As alpha testing begins, we’ll be:

Gathering feedback in real-time

Rapidly fixing bugs and polishing features

Preparing for closed beta in early 2026

This isn’t the final form of Tavrn, but it’s a huge step forward. And we’re so proud to be taking it with you.

💌 Have questions? Reach out at hello@tavrn.top

📎 Or explore the blog to learn more.

Let’s make something better, together. 🧡

🧠 Why Every Chat Platform Eventually Loses the Plot

Originally posted on May 25th, 2025 at https://blog.tavrn.top

If you’ve been online for a while, you’ve probably noticed something:

Slack started sleek. Now it’s a corporate hub.

Discord felt like home. Now it’s... well, a monetized maze.

Guilded was promising. Then Roblox happened.

So why does it feel like every chat platform eventually stops being for us?
Let’s talk about it.

🧼 Feature Creep vs. Clean Chat

One of the biggest problems that creeps into every platform is, well... creep.

Features pile on. Menus multiply. Customization turns into confusion.

What used to be a cozy space to talk becomes an overwhelming stack of:

Threads (within threads)

Bots (inside bots)

Ads (everywhere)

That’s when people start looking for something else. Something simpler. Something quieter.

🔊 Chasing Monetization — And Leaving Users Behind

It’s no secret: most platforms need to make money.

But when that becomes the main goal, users stop being the focus.

Suddenly your community becomes an opportunity.

Your conversation becomes "engagement."

And your voice gets buried under branded banners and nitro boosters.

People notice. And they start drifting.

🔄 Why “Alternatives” Don’t Always Fix It

Sure, there are always new players.

But many of them copy the same patterns, right down to the onboarding flow.

That’s why the real issue isn’t features or aesthetics.

It’s who the platform is built for - and who it keeps listening to.

 🍊 What We’re Doing Differently (Tavrn-Style)

Okay, shameless plug time.

At Tavrn, we’re doing everything we can to avoid the usual path:

We’re building in public. You can track every milestone.

We talk to the community. Like, every day.

We’re keeping things human. Less noise. More conversation.

And yes - it’s still early. But we’re not afraid to keep it that way for a while if it means doing things right.

 🧡 Final Thought

If you’ve ever felt like chat apps forgot who they’re for, you’re not alone.

And you’re exactly the kind of person Tavrn is being built for.

Thanks for sticking around. Let’s make the next era of communication feel like people again.

→ Apply to the Alpha

→ Check out our roadmap

Originally posted on May 8th, 2025 at blog.tavrn.top

We’ve officially published the Tavrn Press Kit — a simple, clear, and packed resource for anyone curious about what we’re building.

Whether you're a writer, blogger, creator, investor, or just someone wondering “what even is Tavrn?”... this is for you

 🧠 What’s Inside?

The press kit includes:

A full overview of what Tavrn is and why it exists

Our development roadmap & launch timeline

Screenshots & mockups of early features

Details on the AHA! discovery program

Brand assets (logo, tagline, colors)

FAQs, contact info, and more

 🧰 Why We Made It

Tavrn is being built in the open — with feedback and support from people like you. This press kit is one more way to keep things accessible, clear, and easy to talk about.

If you want to write about Tavrn, apply for access, or just keep tabs on us, this is a great place to start.

📎 Explore the full press kit here:
🎉 Introducing AHA! – Tavrn’s Spotlight for Amazing Communities

Originally posted on https://blog.tavrn.top

No, it’s not an acronym. It doesn’t stand for anything. But it does stand for something special.

At Tavrn, we’re all about bringing people together in meaningful ways — and AHA! is one of our biggest steps in that direction. It’s our version of server discovery, but it’s so much more than a list of “popular” rooms. AHA! highlights the most active, engaging, and community-driven spaces on Tavrn.

And the best part? It’s open to you.

 💡 What is AHA!?

AHA! is a curated spotlight for standout servers on Tavrn. These are the communities you want to join — the ones where the chat’s always alive, the vibes are great, and something cool is always going on.

Servers accepted into the AHA! Program are featured more prominently across Tavrn, from search results to homepage shoutouts, and even outside the platform on Tavrn’s official social media.

These servers are:

Active ✨

Moderated 🛡️

Community-driven 💬

And just plain fun 🎉

 ✅ What Do You Get?

If your server gets accepted into the AHA! Program, here’s what’s in store:

Boosted Discovery

Your server will appear higher in Tavrn search results.

AHA! Badge

A special icon next to your server name showing you’re part of something bigger.

External Promo

Randomly selected AHA! servers may get featured on Tavrn’s social media or in official promos.

This is our way of helping great communities grow even faster — especially in our early days.

 📋 How Do You Apply?

If your server meets the minimum requirements, applying is easy:

 Minimum Requirements:

At least 15 server members

3+ admins/moderators (including yourself)

Around 6–7 messages per day in the last week or so

If your server qualifies, head to:

Server Settings → Programs → AHA! Program

You’ll be asked to fill out a short application:

What your server is about

Why you want to join the AHA! Program

Your server’s promo message (this is what other users might see)

If your server doesn’t meet the requirements, the option to apply will be hidden.

 🚀 Available at Launch

Yes — AHA! will be ready on Day One of Tavrn’s full launch. Whether you’re already building a space or planning one for later, keep AHA! in mind as a milestone to work toward.

 💬 Why AHA!?

Honestly? Because it feels like the right word for when something just clicks.

That moment of “Aha!” when you find a space where you actually belong.

And that’s what Tavrn is all about.

We can’t wait to see what kinds of communities step into the spotlight.

Want more updates on Tavrn and early feature reveals?

Milestone Two: Build 8 Is Here, and It’s a Big One

Originally posted on May 4, 2025

We’ve officially reached Build 8 — our second milestone — and Tavrn is starting to feel like a real platform. This post covers our new server system, real-time messaging, roles, settings, and a few things we’re still keeping under wraps (👀).

We’ve been quiet… because we’ve been building.\
And now, we’re proud to say — Tavrn has officially hit Build 8, our second milestone.

This one’s a big deal.

 What’s New in Build 8?

After a full system reset not too long ago, we’ve been sprinting toward one of the most important parts of any chat app: servers.

And now? They’re finally working.\
Mostly.

✅ Real-time messages\
✅ Roles and permissions\
✅ Server-wide settings\
✅ Channels that actually channel

This marks the first time Tavrn feels like a platform (to me atleast), not just a prototype.

 This Changes Everything

With the server system online, Tavrn moves from “messaging app” to full-fledged community space.\
It’s no longer just about DMs — it’s about how people come together.

Roles let communities self-moderate.\
Settings help personalize and protect.\
Channels give you space to spread out (without overwhelming your screen).\
And the real-time system? It’s buttery smooth.

Of course, we’re still ironing out a few things — but this is the moment we’ve been working toward.

 There’s More. But We’re Not Telling… Yet 👀

We’ll be honest — Build 8 isn’t just about what’s been revealed.\
There are other things in the works.\
Little details. Big features.\
Stuff we’re keeping under wraps for now (wink wink).

But if Build 8 is this solid already?\
Just wait for Build 9.

 Thanks for Sticking With Us

We’re moving fast, and we’re not stopping.\
Tavrn is being built piece by piece — with intent, care, and a little bit of chaos.\
And with Build 8 in the books, we’re closer than ever to opening the doors for real.

Stay tuned.\
It’s only going to get wilder from here.

— Tavrn

Rebuilt in 3 Days: DMs Are Back — and Better Than Ever

Originally posted on May 2, 2025

After a major setback wiped our codebase, we rebuilt Tavrn's 1-to-1 DM system from scratch — in just 3 days. This post breaks down how we did it, what’s new, and why it’s already better than before.

After losing our original codebase, we had two choices:

Start over slowly and mourn the loss...

Or hit the ground running and build something better.

We chose the second one.

 The DM System, Reborn

It only took 3 days — but our 1-to-1 messaging system is back.

Fully rebuilt from the ground up. Clean. Fast. Future-proof.

And, honestly? It’s better than what we had before.

We redesigned how messages move, how conversations flow, and how it all scales.

What used to feel basic now feels tight — like something you’ll actually want to use every day.

 What’s New?

Here’s a little peek at what’s already working in our new DM system:

🔒 Fast messaging with improved delivery speeds

🌙 Sleeker UI built with clarity and vibe in mind

🗂️ Better message rendering

💬 Typing indicators and presence detection, redone the right way

⚡️ A system that can grow without getting messy

And we’re just getting started.

 What’s Next?

Now that DMs are locked in, we’re moving on to polish other core features — including group chats, profiles, and real-time updates.

Every step is built with community, performance, and personality in mind.

No bloat. No noise. Just smooth, satisfying conversation.

We’re Still Here — and Still Moving Fast

Setbacks happen. But we’re proud of how we responded:

By building. By improving. By actually shipping something better.

If you’ve been waiting on Tavrn — thank you.

The foundation is back. And the future’s right behind it.

— Tavrn

Group Chats Deserve Better

Originally posted on May 1, 2025

You’d think after decades of chat apps, we’d have group chats figured out by now. But somehow, most of them still suck.

What Even Is a “Group Chat” Anymore?

In a lot of apps, the term “group chat” just means a smaller server with fewer features.

You get:

A slightly different icon

A few message options

And that’s it

No context. No identity. Just another DM with extra people and a weird sidebar.

It’s either that, or you have to create a whole server just to get roles, permissions, threads, and channels — which turns “let’s start a group chat” into “let’s manage a mini-organization.”

And that’s not what anyone signed up for.

 The Missing Pieces

Group chats should feel like their own thing:

A space for chaos and cohesion

Something between a private room and a casual clubhouse

Not a stripped-down server or a bloated DM thread

But right now, most platforms treat them as an afterthought.

No real customization.

No context for new members.

No lightweight tools to help with organization without making it feel corporate.

Just a name, a group of people, and a prayer.

We’re Building Group Chats That Feel Right

With Tavrn, we’re doing group chats differently from day one.

We want them to:

Feel personal, like a cozy living room

Have tools just enough to make them manageable without killing the vibe

Let you organize conversations when you want to — not force it

Stay fast, clean, and fun to use

They’re not servers. They’re not basic DMs.

They’re Tavrn Rooms, and we’re designing them to actually make sense.

Group Chats Shouldn't Be a Compromise

If you’ve ever hesitated to make a group chat because “it’s not worth the mess” — you’re not alone.

We’ve felt that too.

We think it’s time group chats got the love they deserve.

We’re building Tavrn to make that happen.

And soon, we’ll prove it.

— Tavrn

We Lost Everything (Well, Almost Everything)

Originally posted on April 29th, 2025

We hit a major setback. Our entire codebase was corrupted, and we have to rebuild Tavrn from scratch.

This isn’t the blog post we wanted to write.

Somehow — and we’re still not entirely sure how... but our entire codebase got corrupted. Like, fully. Totally. Beyond-repair levels of corrupted. No backups that worked. No magic undo button. Everything we’ve been building for Tavrn for the past months? Gone.

So yeah. We have to start over.

But This Is Not the End

The good news is we’re not dead in the water.

Our databases? Still intact.

Our infrastructure? Still there.

Our vision? Very much alive.

And maybe most importantly, we know exactly what we’re building now.

The original version of Tavrn was trial by fire. We were experimenting, testing, tweaking, failing, learning, building, and rebuilding. That messy process gave us a clear map of what works... and what doesn’t.

So while it sucks to lose all that progress, we’re not starting from scratch mentally. We’re starting with experience.

 So What Happens Now?

We’re getting back to work like... immediately.

Honestly, we expect to recover a huge chunk of what we lost pretty quickly. Some of it will be even better this time around. Cleaner. Smarter. More efficient. And now we can build with the benefit of hindsight instead of just hope.

That said, this might slow things down a little. We’re not going to rush it, and we’re not cutting corners to make up for lost time. We’re still committed to building Tavrn the right way.

 Thanks for Sticking With Us

This sucks. We won’t pretend it doesn’t. But the support we’ve gotten already, even while Tavrn is still in development, means the world to us.

If anything, this just confirms how much we care about getting Tavrn out into the world.

We’re still coming. We’re still building. And we’re not going anywhere.

Thanks for riding with us,

Why We Believe Tavrn Will Work

Originally posted on April 28th, 2025

Tavrn is a new community-first chat platform built with familiar features, real passion, and a deep respect for its users. Here's why we believe Tavrn will become the new home for great minds to connect.

Let’s be real: the chatting world has gotten weird.

What started as cozy spaces for friends turned into complicated apps, bloated updates, and decisions that left real communities in the dust. Discord kicked down the door years ago—and somewhere along the way, they started locking it. Guilded looked like it was about to be the next big thing—and fumbled the bag harder than we thought possible.

So... we're doing it ourselves.

Welcome to Tavrn.

I’m building Tavrn because honestly? We deserve better.

Something lighter. Friendlier. Ours.

We Know What Works — And What Doesn’t

We're not here to pretend we invented chatting.

You know what works: voice channels, text chats, easy media sharing, roles, private spaces, public spaces.

Tavrn gives you all the good stuff — without trying to fix what isn't broken.

But we're not stopping there.

Tavrn is coming in with smart changes where it matters: better community management, cleaner interfaces, fewer headaches.

You run your community your way. We just give you the tools to make it smooth.

 Community First. No Exceptions.

We're not "user farming."

We’re not building Tavrn to shove ads in your face, sell your data, or turn your friends list into a leaderboard.

Tavrn exists because communities deserve a home that respects them — not one that uses them.

Every decision comes back to a simple promise:

Does this make it better for real people to connect and build something awesome?

If the answer’s no, it doesn’t make the cut.

 Built With Heart, Not Hype

This isn't a corporate moonshot.

It’s a project built by someone who actually lives online community culture — and who’s tired of seeing it get mistreated.

I’m building Tavrn because I’m one of you.

I’ve made servers and watched them die from bad platform updates. I’ve seen friends scatter across apps that just didn’t care anymore.

I know what it feels like when you’re just trying to build a little corner of the internet — and the platform fights you every step of the way.

Tavrn flips the script.

We're Taking Our Time — Because You're Worth It

We’re not racing. We’re building this right.

Carefully. Passionately. With you at the center of it all.

Tavrn is a chill friend right now — showing up, building quietly, putting in the work.

But when it’s time?

We’re stepping up. We're staying. And we’re going to change the game.

Tavrn: Where All Great Minds Think Alike

Because here, your voice actually matters.

A friendly introduction to Tavrn, a new community platform built as an alternative to Discord and Guilded. This post explains why Tavrn was created, what makes it different, and invites readers to join the journey of building a better online hangout—without paywalls or corporate vibes.

Let’s be real—finding a good place to hang out online with your friends or community is getting harder. Discord is everywhere, but it’s starting to feel a bit… corporate. Guilded? It was awesome, but now it’s basically Roblox-only. Revolt is cool if you’re into open source, but it’s still finding its feet.

So, we made Tavrn. And honestly? We’re just a bunch of people who wanted something better for ourselves—and for you.

 Why Tavrn Exists

We love hanging out online. We love gaming, sharing memes, running events, and just chatting about life. But we got tired of paywalls, missing features, and feeling like we were just another number in someone’s user stats.

Discord: Super popular, but you have to pay for the good stuff, and it’s easy to get lost in the noise.

Guilded: Used to be the best alternative, especially for gamers, but now it’s locked down to Roblox. If you’re not into Roblox, you’re out of luck.

Revolt: Open source and privacy-focused, but still growing and not quite there yet for big communities.

We wanted something that felt like home—a place where you and your friends can just… be. No weird restrictions. No “pay us or else.” Just a great experience, for free.

 What We’re Building

Tavrn is our answer. We’re building it to be:

A real alternative to Discord: Familiar features, but with a friendlier vibe and no corporate nonsense.

A replacement for Guilded: If you miss what Guilded used to be, you’ll feel right at home here.

No forced payments: All the good stuff is free. We’re not here to nickel-and-dime you.

We’re still early in development (check out our roadmap), but we’re moving fast and listening to what you want. We want Tavrn to be shaped by its users, not by some boardroom.

 Join Us on the Journey

We’re not a big company. We’re just people who care about making online spaces better. If you want to be part of something new—and help us build it—come hang out. Tavrn is for you, your friends, your guild, your study group, your fandom, your whatever.

Let’s make something awesome together.

Stay tuned for updates, and thanks for being here. Seriously.

— The Tavrn Team
