Your git log knows the hour you really code. One line prints it.

The legend says real hackers commit at 3 AM. Your git history can check that, and it takes one line.

git log --author="$(git config user.email)" --date=format:%H --format=%ad |
  sort | uniq -c |
  awk '{c[$2]=$1; if ($1>m) m=$1}
       END {for (h=0; h<24; h++) {k=sprintf("%02d",h); b="";
            for (i=0; i<c[k]*30/m; i++) b=b "#"; printf "%s %5d %s\n", k, c[k], b}}'

Run it inside any repo. It prints 24 rows, one per hour, with the number of your commits at that hour and a bar.

The creator of Redis codes in office hours

I ran it on Redis with
--author=antirez
: 7,213 commits from 2009 to today.

00 89 ###
01 52 ##
02 29 #
03 29 #
04 11 #
05 14 #

20 94 ####
21 78 ###
22 108 ####
23 135 #####

His peak is 11 AM. There is a dip at 2 PM, the hour after lunch, and a second peak at 4 PM. Between 3 and 6 AM he made 54 commits in 17 years. One of the most-used databases on earth was written mostly between breakfast and dinner.

  How it works

--date=format:%H
prints only the hour of each commit, in the author's own time zone at the moment of the commit. A commit at 2 AM in Tokyo counts as 2 AM.

sort | uniq -c
counts the commits per hour.

awk fills in the hours with no commits and scales the longest bar to 30 characters.

Your email in old commits may differ from the one in your config. Use
--author="Your Name"
then; it matches part of the name or the email.

For every repo in a folder, wrap the
git log
in a loop:
for d in ~/code/*/; do git -C "$d" log ...; done
, then pipe the whole loop into the same
sort | uniq -c | awk
.

Then the other half: your last 30 days

The hours come from your machine. Your days are public: the green squares on your GitHub profile. We made a monkey, Jitters, who lives those 30 days. Type your handle at vibeoverflow.lol and he shows the month you had: on the sofa after a quiet week, on his toes during a streak, shaking on his eighth coffee if you push ten times a day.

Your peak hour can also go on a mug, under him: the same page takes the hour you type and puts it on the mug in the cart.

What is your peak hour? Post your bars below. Does anyone here really peak at 3 AM?

Gifts for the vibe coder whose AI writes the code at 3am (2026)

Some links below pay us a small commission if you buy (Zazzle's referral program). The products are other people's except one, which is ours and says so. Prices are as each shop showed them on 22 October 2026, in USD unless marked; Zazzle runs sales often, so yours may differ.

Somebody you love now writes code by talking to it. They describe a thing, an AI types it, they read the diff at 3am and say "looks right", and then it is 4am. You want to get them a gift, and every programmer gift guide since 2012 says split keyboard, rubber duck, mug warmer.

This list is for the other kind. One gift for each hour of a night spent asking a machine to write the code, from the last good idea to the sunrise. Every link was opened before it went in.

11 PM: "just one more prompt"

1. Vibe Coding AI Developer Humor T-Shirt (Kazan_Visuals on Zazzle) - $26.35 on sale, list $31.00.
It reads "Describe it to AI. Copy-Paste. Pray it works." That is the whole method, on a shirt.
See it on Zazzle

2. Prompting My Way Through Life Funny AI Mug (Midnight_Blueprint on Zazzle) - $16.28 on sale, list $19.15.
A terminal window on a mug, for the person whose first tool of the day is now a text box.
See it on Zazzle

3. Prompt engineer minimalist quote socks (Artycom on Zazzle) - $15.22 on sale, list $17.90.
Plain words, "prompt engineer", on socks. A job title nobody had five years ago, worn where only they will see it.
See it on Zazzle

1 AM: reviewing code nobody wrote

4. LGTM Looks Good To Meow Coffee Mug (PKCGStore on Zazzle) - $19.85 on sale, list $23.35.
"LGTM" is what you type when the AI wrote 400 lines and you read 40. The cat makes it honest.
See it on Zazzle

5. Funny LGTM Code Review Pull Request Custom Stamp (Kazan_Visuals on Zazzle) - $26.65 on sale, list $31.35.
A real rubber stamp with boxes for "It works on my machine" and "Ship to Production". For the one who still prints things.
See it on Zazzle

  2 AM: out of tokens

6. "Waiting For Tokens To Refill" Sticker (mancikart on Redbubble) - CA$2.50 on sale, list CA$3.12.
When the usage limit hits mid-feature and there is nothing to do but stare. Cheap, and it goes on the laptop lid. (Plain link, no commission.)
See it on Redbubble

7. 404 Sleep Not Found Sticker (PKCGStore on Zazzle) - $7.70 on sale, list $9.05.
Not about AI at all. About what the AI did to their bedtime.
See it on Zazzle

  2:47 AM: the incident

8. Vibe Coding Incident Terminal Log T-Shirt (Kazan_Visuals on Zazzle) - $18.62 on sale, list $21.90.
A terminal log where the AI's commit fails at 02:47 AM, followed by panic and coffee. If they have lived this, they will laugh before they finish reading it.
See it on Zazzle

9. Funny Software Engineer Shipping It Desk Mat (MRHAB_Designs on Zazzle) - $31.41 on sale, list $36.95.
"Works on my machine... so we are shipping it." A desk mat is big enough to be read from across the room, which is the point.
See it on Zazzle

3:33 AM: asleep on the keys

10. Jitters at your hour, personalized mug (ours, Vibeoverflow) - from our shop.
A small anxious monkey who codes, on a mug that prints the hour you choose: the time they usually give up, or the time they shipped the thing. We make him, so we would say this; the hour is the part that makes it theirs.
See the mug and the stickers

11. Vibe Coding: Building Production-Grade Software With GenAI, Chat, Agents, and Beyond by Gene Kim and Steve Yegge (Barnes & Noble) - $32.00 paperback.
The serious gift on the list: two people who have shipped a lot of software, on how to do this without the 2:47 AM incident. B&N's page showed mixed stock when we looked, so check before you count on it. (Plain link, no commission.)
See it at Barnes & Noble

6 AM: the card you leave on the keyboard

12. Powered by Coffee & AI Retro Tech Holiday Card (badrbadr on Zazzle) - $1.51 a card on sale, list $2.51.
For whoever wakes up first. Write "go to bed" inside it.
See it on Zazzle

If you are the vibe coder and someone sent you this: they love you, and it is late. Close the laptop.

The Vibeoverflow team

We turned GitHub contribution graphs into a monkey for your README

Stats cards tell you numbers. We wanted one that tells you how your month felt.

So we made Jitters: a monkey who lives your last 30 days of public GitHub contributions. One line in your profile README and he sits there, redrawn once a day.

The rules, first one that holds wins:

Seven days with nothing pushed: he is on the sofa.

Ten or more a day for 30 days: he shakes, coffee after coffee.

A streak of seven days or more: he stands on his toes.

One or more a day: he types along.

Less than one a day: he dozes at the desk.

Today @dhh's monkey is on his eighth coffee (112 contributions a day), @antirez's types along, and @karpathy's is on the sofa: his public calendar has been quiet for 30 days.

  Put yours on your README

Replace
YOUR_HANDLE
with your GitHub handle:

[![Jitters](https://vibeoverflow.lol/card/YOUR_HANDLE.svg)](https://vibeoverflow.lol/scenes/github.html?h=YOUR_HANDLE&src=readme)

Or type your handle at vibeoverflow.lol/scenes/github.html and press copy.

  How it works

It reads the public contribution calendar, the same green squares on your profile, once a day per handle. No token, no login, nothing private.

The card is one self-contained SVG, 480 by 160: no font or image loaded from outside, because GitHub's image proxy fetches only the one URL.

It answers
Cache-Control: no-cache
with an ETag, so the proxy asks again instead of keeping last week's monkey.

A handle that does not exist gets a sleeping monkey, never a broken image.

What is your monkey doing this month?

The Vibeoverflow team
