Dev Protocol is now open to Open Source Community, everyone can join on GitHub organization and chat on their Discord server.

We are making the Web3 Community an educational platform for aspiring blockchain developers and we will still continue creating open-source projects. Dev Protocol is where you can contribute to real decentralized applications (dApps) so you can utilize and enhance your skills.

Building your own open-source software project is a great way to learn coding skills especially when you're a beginner, this can also help you develop industry valuable skills in real-world projects while meeting up with other developers, and collaborating with them. As your project grows, more people rely on the code you build everyday and making sure open source developers can make a career out of their work is fundamental to keep these projects alive. Luckily, Dev Protocol has the mission to support every creator with their open-source projects which means you can earn a living that motivates you to continue your project.

Dev Protocol technology mission is to help

Dev Protocol's technology mission is to help every creator. Dev Protocol creates opportunities to monetize open-source software projects by allowing people from around the world to stake their cryptocurrency on verified GitHub repositories. Dev Protocol was created with the use of blockchain technology as a system to realize continuous support for all creators. DEV token is a crypto asset issued by Dev Protocol. Staking is like depositing your money to banks. As you may know, you’ll get interest for your deposited money. For DEV, if you deposit DEV token (money) to OSS (banks), you’ll get interest. The interest will be shared with developers, which means, interest for developers (reward) will be a donation for developers.

Dev Dapp Starter Grants

Dev Protocol, Decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol from Japan, will be holding "Dev Dapp Starter Grants", a grant program aimed at aiding the development of blockchain applications (Dapps). The program will provide financial support (paid in DEV token) to the people who are working on Dapp development using Dev Protocol technology, a blockchain technology that allows creators to monetize their creations and gain sustainable support. If you don't know the DEV token, it is a new cryptocurrency or digital money for developers, its rise up depends on the demand just like what happened to Bitcoin and to other cryptos.

Prerequisites

Blockchain experience is not a requirement for this grant.
No age requirements

Who can apply

Developers from all of the countries. You can apply by forming a team with one or more members. The qualifications for application are as follows:

Those who are interested in Dev Protocol
Those with programming experience
Those who are interested in the latest technology trends (especially blockchain technology)
Those who want to challenge the social implementation of new technology

Grant Amount

The best Dapps will receive up to 500 DEV tokens that come from the Dev Protocol Property Tokens staking rewards (equivalent to about 1500 USD). DEV tokens can be used on the Dev Protocol, and the ecosystem grows with more Dapps.

July 26, 2021 - December 31, 2021

As we get free to use the open-source software, maybe there's something on our mind that we should give back to the project that helped us. Yeah, helping them to fix bugs, make changes or make suggestions on their project, but there's also another way to help them and that is the Stakes.social. In Stakes.social you can support their development cost by staking $DEV token.

Stakes.social is the first official Decentralized application (Dapp) built on the Dev Protocol that was released in June 2020. Stakes.social is a new sponsor platform where both developers and sponsors are rewarded with tokens if they support their favorite projects by staking DEV tokens. Dev Protocol is a technology that monetizes people's projects and makes everyone happy.

It is like GitHub sponsors but it differs because your money will not be lost if you stake it to the Open Source Project on Stakes.social but it will increase just like at investment and the creator of the open-source project will also be rewarded with your $DEV. It is best to hold your $DEV in Stakes.social to increase your support to their project, but don't worry because you can withdraw your $DEV anytime if needed.

In a simple explanation

The ecosystem can have two types of participants where supporters can earn through staking and creator get rewards for monetizing their activity on the platform.

A wallet is used for managing your crypto assets. You need to have a wallet to store the DEV tokens on the Ethereum Network. Since Dev Protocol doesn’t provide you with a wallet function, you have to get one by yourself.

Helping you to build your Personal Brand in Tech

My room is just less average than the rest, I don't have a cool background or dazzling furniture for you to see behind me as other people have, lols, but the SWAG helps brighten and fill the gaps in my empty room. In the same way this is how my personal brand helped me to get a job and still receive job offers from other companies.

I'm Vincent Villafuerte also known as vinzvinci. I'm currently in my 3rd-year of college and taking a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems. I'm passionate about community development and content writing. I created my GitHub account on October 19, 2020, because of Hacktoberfest.

Get started

My personal branding helped me achieve my goals. I want to share with y'all the tips that helped me.

Personal branding isn't just for someone who owns a business and who puts their product on the market. It can also be for you; you may want to be known as an aspiring blockchain developer or an aspiring software engineer, or a student developer who likes to lead their peers. It's how you promote yourself in different social media and this may be the reason that you get hired, because of your personal branding.

Your personal branding is concrete proof to showcase your interest and expertise. It is how you demonstrate to your employer that you are valuable and make them feel that you are the one who they're looking for. Some folks don't really realize how important their personal brand is and this is one of the reasons why it is hard for them to get a job even they have great skills.

Don't worry if you are new, it is not too late to get started because

I am giving you 8 tips to build your personal brand and make friends in the tech industry

1. Use your real name, same username, and same profile picture to all of your social media

You don't need to use all of the social media you have, but you can use your LinkedIn, Twitter and your GitHub profile only like I did.

2. Build your own unique GitHub profile

Introduce yourself, showcase your interests, what fields are you passionate about, and let your personal project speak for your skills.

If you need help, you can visit this repository to get some ideas.

3. Contribute to open source

Well, you don't need to make a lot of projects but contributing to open source is also one of the best ways to make your GitHub profile look more interesting.

4. Join Open Source Community

If you want a friend to guide you on your open source journey, you can join an open source community like EddieHub or a hackathon community like MLH. These communities will help you to accelerate your learning. There's a lot of communities out there, you can search or find them on Twitter.

EddieHub Community is where I started and the community has done so many things for my life.

Once you join to the community, one thing to keep in mind is to follow community rules.

5. Collaboration

At EddieHub Community, we believe collaboration first, code second. This is very accurate, because if you don't have collaboration skills then it will be hard for your teammate to collaborate with you and know you as well. So try to overcome your shyness, don't worry everyone is friendly. If you are worried about failing, it is okay because it is part of your journey.

6. Join Hackathon

Here you will meet a lot of great folks. Joining a hackathon is also one of the best ways to accelerate your learning, make connections, and collaborating with other people. Don't waste the opportunity to introduce yourself there because you can't expect the opportunity.

7. Create your own Portfolio

Here you can also showcase everything you love. If you lack the experience to code your portfolio, you can learn first and do it next time. Let your GitHub profile showcase your interest and the work you do while you don't have a portfolio. Some employers are looking at the GitHub profile 😉

8. Build your resume

Of course, if you are applying for a job, you need a resume, so better to give your best shot at writing this. If you want people to review your resume, you can make an issue on the EddieHub support repository or if you just want to have an insight from them, you can read their feedback here.

Personal branding will help you stand out from the crowd and get your dream job at an early age.

We are launching a new global open source community called Web3 Community that will be focus on Web3, Blockchain, and somewhat related to decentralized applications (Dapp). Here you will learn how to become a blockchain developer while having fun with the community members. Blockchain Developer is an interesting field, in demand and the latest trend in the tech industry.

Everyone can join in the community, even you are just an enthusiast that is just interested in becoming Blockchain Developer. Here at web3community, you do not need a college degree for the requirements! Because skills are the primary requirement you need for applying for a job and we know that as well ^_^
