Why I Decided to Limit LaunchStall to 10 Products a Week

One of the first decisions I made while building LaunchStall was also one of the simplest:

I didn't want an unlimited number of products launching at once.

So LaunchStall has a limit of 10 products per weekly edition.

At first, that might sound like a strange limitation.

Why would a platform that wants more products intentionally limit the number of products it can accept?

Because I think product discovery has a visibility problem.

The endless feed problem

Imagine launching a product into a feed containing hundreds or thousands of other products.

Your product might technically be listed.

But being listed and being discovered are two completely different things.

A new product can quickly move down the page as newer products arrive.

The founder celebrates the launch.

Then a few hours later, nobody can find it.

I wanted to experiment with a different model.

One week. Ten products.

LaunchStall works around weekly editions.

Each edition runs Monday through Sunday and contains up to 10 launch slots.

The idea is simple:

Choose a week
↓
Launch your product
↓
10 products compete for attention
↓
Community discovers and upvotes
↓
Weekly leaderboard
↓
Top products get highlighted

The next Monday, a new edition begins.

The previous week's top products remain visible, while another group of products gets its own week.

Why a week instead of a day?

Launches are often treated as a single moment.

You launch at 9 AM.

You post on social media.

You hope people see it.

And by the evening, the launch is basically over.

I wanted to give products more time.

A LaunchStall edition lasts an entire week.

That gives makers multiple days to share their launch, collect feedback, bring people to the product page, and participate in the community.

The leaderboard is still important

Limiting the number of products doesn't mean removing competition.

The weekly leaderboard is still based on community upvotes.

One person can upvote a product once.

Makers cannot upvote their own products.

Paid placement can provide additional visibility, but it doesn't change the organic ranking.

That separation is important.

I want a paid promotion to be a promotion.

I don't want it pretending to be an organic community ranking.

What happens after the week?

The product doesn't disappear.

Every launch gets a permanent public product page.

The weekly edition changes, but the product remains part of LaunchStall.

This means a founder gets both:

A launch moment + a permanent product page.

That's the model I'm experimenting with.

Why I'm building it this way

I don't know yet whether 10 is the perfect number.

Maybe it should be 15.

Maybe some weeks will fill immediately while others won't.

Maybe the format will change completely.

That's part of building something new.

But I like the constraint because it creates something an unlimited directory doesn't naturally create:

scarcity.

If there are only 10 slots, choosing a launch week becomes part of launching the product.

And hopefully, it makes the experience more interesting for the people discovering the products too.

LaunchStall is live if you want to see how the first editions work:

https://launchstall.com

If you were launching your own product, would you prefer:

10 products competing for attention each week, or an unlimited directory?

I'm curious what other founders think.

I Wanted a Better Way to Discover New Products, So I Built LaunchStall

There are a lot of great products being built by indie hackers, developers, and small teams.

The problem isn't always building the product.

The problem is getting people to discover it.

A founder can spend months building a SaaS product, developer tool, mobile app, AI product, or side project — and then launch it to almost nobody.

I kept thinking about this problem.

There are directories where products get listed, social networks where posts disappear quickly, and launch platforms where hundreds of products compete for attention at the same time.

I wanted to try something different.

So I built LaunchStall.

What is LaunchStall?

LaunchStall is a weekly product discovery and launch platform.

Instead of putting an unlimited number of products into one giant feed, LaunchStall gives each weekly edition 10 launch slots.

Each edition runs from Monday to Sunday.

Founders choose an available week, launch their product, and then the community can discover, upvote, comment on, and save products.

The leaderboard is based on upvotes.

At the end of the week, the best products get their moment in the spotlight, while launched products keep their permanent pages on LaunchStall.

Why only 10 products?

This was one of the decisions I spent the most time thinking about.

If there are hundreds of products competing for attention, most products become another card in an endless feed.

With 10 products in a weekly edition, every launch has a clearer opportunity to be seen.

It also makes the launch feel like an event rather than simply adding another listing to a directory.

It isn't only for founders

I also wanted LaunchStall to be useful for people who simply enjoy discovering new products.

Members can browse products, upvote them, comment, save interesting launches, and build a daily streak by discovering products.

The streak system is designed to give people a reason to come back and discover something new instead of visiting once and leaving.

Keeping the leaderboard fair

One thing I wanted to be very clear about was the difference between promotion and ranking.

Paid products can receive things like verification and priority placement, but paid placement does not determine the leaderboard position.

The weekly ranking is based on upvotes.

There is also one upvote per person per product, and makers cannot upvote their own launch.

That distinction matters to me because I don't want the weekly winner to simply be whoever paid the most.

Free launches

LaunchStall also has a free launch option for makers who are willing to display a LaunchStall badge on their own website.

There are paid options for founders who want additional features such as verification, priority placement, and SEO-related benefits.

But the core idea remains the same:

Build something.

Launch it.

Let people discover it.

Let the community decide what deserves attention.

LaunchStall is live

This is still the beginning.

I'm building LaunchStall in public and figuring out what works by putting it in front of actual founders and people who love discovering new products.

If you're building something, I'd genuinely love to know:

What would make you choose a launch platform for your next product?

You can take a look at LaunchStall here:

https://launchstall.com

And if you're building a product, you can launch it there as well.

I'd love to hear your feedback — especially what you think is missing.
