      <description>&lt;p&gt;In regards to investment and data-driven software, I'd like to know if desktop applications is the industry standard for creating, i.e. developing such applications, or is the industry moving completely to web-applications?  &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;In essence, I don't to waste my time developing a desktop application when in the future I will have regretted not building a web-based application.&lt;/p&gt;
