Four months ago, we launched Solcial, a web3 permissionless social network that initially operated on an invite-only basis. The experience has been incredible, and we would like to showcase the improvements we've made to the platform since then, thanks to the help of our community. So, let's dive in!

🚀Here's a list of all the latest updates to Solcial.

⭐️Firstly, we're excited to announce that Solcial is now open to everyone. Head to https://solcial.io to create an account and start exploring and creating content.

⭐️ As a web3 platform built on a blockchain, you can create an account using either a Solcial wallet or any Solana wallets, such as Phantom or Solflare. And the best part? You don't need to provide any personal information, such as your email or phone number, during registration, ensuring your privacy is protected. We've also improved the onboarding process, making it easier for users unfamiliar with web3 to create an account and start using Solcial.

⭐️We've released Moderation V2, which still has centralized components, but we plan to launch the fully decentralised V3 soon. Some notable features include a sensitivity content filter with options ranging from “Safe Space” to “MadMax”, NSFW tags for 18+ content, and posts reporting. You can also mute users who annoy you, so you don't see their comments or posts, but other users can.

⭐️Our biggest achievement yet is the release of our iOS and Android apps, so you can use Solcial on your phone without opening it inside external apps, like most Dapps works.

⭐️We've also added a video feature, allowing you to upload videos directly on IPFS, with client-side encoding and compression, ensuring no-one edit your video afterward.

⭐️Additionally, we've released a poll feature and updated our referral program, giving you your own referral link to invite friends and earn 5% commission as SLCL rewards from their trading on Solcial.

⭐️ We've also made several UI and UX improvements, making your stay on the platform comfortable and smooth. We've separated content from the trading tab, added more filters for feeds, improved the Users' Leaderboard, and made tons of other updates. Our verified badge and badges for Scouts (ambassadors of Solcial) have also been deployed recently.

Solcial is a permissionless social network allowing users to be rewarded fairly for their work, and promoting freedom of speech by allowing users to interact without fearing ban or censorship.

Solcial is a new social network with both a mobile app on iOS and Android, and a website. Solcial is fully launched on Solana mainnet allowing any user to join and create their own posts, token, and NFTs. On Solcial each user has their own token, allowing their audience to invest directly in them. Users can mint 1 million of their user tokens when they signup, that supply is fixed and the same for everyone (this step can also be delayed if unable to mint during onboarding). To begin with every user will have their token price set to $1 with 10,000 of their tokens put in a liquidity pool. This helps ensure that tokens are tradeable and users can compare token prices knowing they began at the same price. Otherwise, these coins are yours, you can keep them or sell them (or send them to friends).

To follow people on Solcial we have 3 subscription levels: you can follow someone for free (Tier 1) to access their public content (similar to Twitter or Instagram), and to access their private content (what we call Tier 2 and 3 subscriptions) you need to own their token, to be an investor in them. That’s what we called the “invest-for-subscription” model.

How does it work?

To create an account you only need to provide a username (the avatar, display name and email address are optional). We create your account on the Solana blockchain, and give you the seed of your wallet (if you create a Solcial account), otherwise you need to make a digital signature from your existing Solana wallet (such as Phantom, Solflare, etc).

We’ll then mint (i.e. create) 1 million new tokens just for you, the ticker symbol of your token will be of your choice (with 7 characters max). And these tokens will be truly yours, you can sell them, keep them, gift them, burn them… do whatever you want with them. You token is a SPL tokens on Solana. It represents your own social market cap in a way, and people that are interested in you for whatever reason might be interested in investing in your token.

The initial price of a user token is $1.00 for everyone.

To publish content on Solcial you can have the option to select 3 levels of privacy:

Tier 1: each post is public and free for anyone to see
Tier 2: only people holding a specific amount of your token can view this content (the amount is up to you, you can change it in your settings).
Tier 3: only people holding a specific amount of your token AND paying you a certain amount of USDC per month can view the Tier 3 content. (the user token amount and the monthly USDC payment are up to you). This helps creators generate reoccurring revenue (please note Tier 3 is still in development).

Every user begins with the same token price of $1, but the price will change depending on the demand for the token. Furthermore, every user automatically creates a pool at signup with 10,000 tokens in it to provide some initial liquidity. Subscription plans can be customised as you wish, there are no restrictions.

You can then use Solcial like any other social networks, posting comments, articles, photos etc, and following people you’re interested in.
