My Kurukshetra Experience: Learning Beyond the Classroom 🏆

I'm happy to share a memorable milestone from my engineering journey!

I received a Certificate of Appreciation for participating and contributing to Kurukshetra – War Led by Strategies, organized by the Computer Society of India (CSI) and Team DevKraft.

This experience was a valuable opportunity to step beyond regular classroom learning and participate in a competitive environment.

 What This Experience Means to Me

As a Computer Engineering graduate, I believe learning comes from more than just writing code or studying technical concepts. Participating in events like Kurukshetra encourages us to challenge ourselves, think strategically, and learn through practical experiences.

This milestone reminds me of the importance of:

🧠 Strategic Thinking: Approaching challenges with a thoughtful mindset.

🤝 Teamwork: Learning from others and contributing toward a shared goal.

🚀 Continuous Learning: Making the most of every opportunity to grow.

💡 Personal Development: Building confidence through participation and new experiences.

 A Note of Gratitude

I'm thankful to the organizers, faculty members, and everyone who contributed to making this experience possible.

Receiving this certificate motivates me to continue exploring new opportunities, strengthening my technical skills, and growing as a software developer.

 🚀 Building GymFlow: A Full-Stack Gym Management Platform

Hey developers! 👋

I've been working on GymFlow, a full-stack gym management platform designed to simplify the daily operations of gyms.

The idea started with a simple question:

What if a gym could manage its members, memberships, payments, and daily operations from one place — while also having its own professional website?

That question inspired me to build GymFlow.

 🛠️ Tech Stack

Here's what I'm using to build the application:

Frontend: Next.js, React, TypeScript

Styling: Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui

Database: PostgreSQL

ORM: Prisma

Authentication: Custom session-based authentication using JWTs and HTTP-only cookies

Validation: Zod

Forms: React Hook Form

 ✨ Key Features

 👥 Member Management

Manage gym members and access their membership details.

 📅 Membership & Subscription Management

Create membership plans, track subscriptions, and monitor expiration dates.

 💳 Payment Management

Track payments, payment statuses, and refunds while maintaining transaction history.

 🏋️ Attendance Tracking

Record attendance and monitor daily gym activity.

 💰 Financial Management

Track gym income and expenses to help owners understand their finances.

 🔐 Role-Based Access Control

Separate owner and staff permissions to protect sensitive operations.

 🧠 Some Things I'm Learning

Building GymFlow has taught me that developing a real-world application involves much more than creating UI components.

Some challenges I'm working through include:

Designing a reliable database schema.

Implementing authentication and authorization.

Enforcing organization-level data isolation.

Handling payment history without losing transaction records.

Managing permissions across server actions and UI components.

Testing application workflows with Playwright.

These challenges have helped me understand the importance of maintainable architecture and secure data handling.

 🚀 What's Next?

My broader vision is to evolve GymFlow into a solution that combines two products:

A public-facing website for each gym to showcase its trainers, services, and membership plans.

A private management dashboard for owners and staff to manage daily operations.

The long-term goal is to offer a customizable, white-label platform that gyms can use under their own brand.

 💬 I'd Love Your Feedback!

If you're a full-stack developer, SaaS builder, or someone who has built business management software, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

What features would you add?

What architectural improvements would you recommend?

How would you approach turning this into a multi-tenant SaaS product?

I'm excited to keep learning, building, and sharing my progress with the community!

Thanks for reading! 🙌

Events & Event Handling in JavaScript – A Complete Beginner Guide

 📌 What is an Event in JavaScript?

An event is an action or occurrence that happens in the browser and can be detected by JavaScript.

Events allow JavaScript to respond to user interactions and browser activities, making web pages interactive and dynamic.

 🔹 Events can be triggered by:

👤 User actions (clicking, typing, hovering)

🌐 Browser actions (page load, resize, scroll)

 🔹 Common Examples of Events:

Clicking a button

Pressing a keyboard key

Hovering over an element

Loading a web page

👉 In simple words:

Event = Something happens → JavaScript reacts

 📌 Types of Events in JavaScript

JavaScript provides many built-in events, grouped by their purpose.

 🖱 Mouse Events

Triggered by mouse interactions.

click
– when an element is clicked

dblclick
– when double-clicked

mouseover
– when mouse enters an element

mouseout
– when mouse leaves an element

 ⌨ Keyboard Events

Triggered by keyboard actions.

keydown
– when a key is pressed

keyup
– when a key is released

 📝 Form Events

Triggered by form-related actions.

submit
– when a form is submitted

change
– when input value changes

focus
– when input gets focus

blur
– when input loses focus

 🌐 Browser / Window Events

Triggered by browser-level activities.

load
– when the page finishes loading

resize
– when the window size changes

scroll
– when the page is scrolled

 📌 What is Event Handling?

Event handling is the process of writing JavaScript code that runs when an event occurs.

📌 It defines how your application reacts to user actions.

 🔹 Example Explanation:

When a user clicks a button →

JavaScript executes a function →

An action is performed (show message, submit form, etc.)

Event → Handler → Action

 📌 Ways to Handle Events in JavaScript

There are three main ways to handle events in JavaScript.

 ❌ 1. Inline Event Handling (Not Recommended)

<button onclick="alert('Clicked')">Click</button>

⚠ Why this is NOT recommended:
Mixes HTML and JavaScript
Hard to maintain in large projects
Not scalable
Poor separation of concerns

📌 This method is outdated and should be avoided in modern development.

 2. DOM Property Method

const button = document.querySelector("button");
button.onclick = function () {
 console.log("Button clicked");
};

❌ Drawback:

Only one event handler can exist
New handler overrides the previous one

 3. Best Method: addEventListener (Recommended)

const button = document.querySelector("button");

button.addEventListener("click", () => {
 console.log("Button clicked");
});

 ✅ Why addEventListener is best:

Allows multiple event handlers

Cleaner and scalable code

Modern JavaScript standard

Works well with frameworks like React

 💡 Best Practice:

Always use addEventListener for handling events in real-world applications.

 🧠 JavaScript DOM Explained for Beginners (With Examples)

When we start learning web development, we usually begin with HTML and CSS.
HTML gives structure, CSS gives style — but JavaScript makes websites interactive.

The key concept that connects JavaScript with HTML & CSS is the DOM.

In this article, you’ll learn:

What DOM is

Why DOM is important

How DOM works

Common DOM methods

Real-world examples

Let’s start 🚀

 📌 What is DOM?

DOM stands for Document Object Model.

The DOM is a tree-like representation of your HTML document that JavaScript can:

read

change

add to

remove from

In simple words:

DOM allows JavaScript to control and manipulate HTML elements.

 🌳 Understanding DOM with an Example

Consider this HTML:

`<h1 id="title">Hello</h1>
<button>Click Me</button>`

When the browser loads this page, it converts it into a DOM tree like this:

Document
└── html
└── body
├── h1
└── button

JavaScript interacts with this DOM tree, not directly with raw HTML.

 ❓ Why is DOM Important?

Without DOM:

Website is static

No interaction

No dynamic updates

With DOM:

Buttons respond to clicks 🖱️

Forms get validated 📝

Content updates without page reload 🔄

Websites feel alive ⚡

👉 Every modern website uses DOM.

⚙️ How DOM Works

The flow is simple:

HTML → DOM Tree → JavaScript Controls DOM

JavaScript can:

Select elements

Change text or styles

Add or remove elements

Listen for events (click, input, submit)

 🛠️ Common DOM Methods You Should Know

1️⃣ Selecting Elements
document.getElementById("title");
document.querySelector(".box");

2️⃣ Changing Content
document.getElementById("title").innerText = "Welcome to DOM";

3️⃣ Changing Styles
document.getElementById("title").style.color = "blue";

4️⃣ Handling Events
button.addEventListener("click", () => {
alert("Button clicked!");
});

5️⃣ Working with Classes
element.classList.add("active");
element.classList.remove("active");

 🌍 Real-World Uses of DOM

DOM is used in almost every web project:

Form validation

Toggle buttons (dark mode 🌙)

Modals & dropdowns

Dynamic content loading

Single Page Applications

⚠️ Even React and other frameworks are built on DOM concepts (Virtual DOM).

 🚀 What to Learn Next After DOM?

Once you understand DOM basics, move to:

DOM Events (click, input, submit)

ES6 JavaScript

Async JavaScript (Promises, Fetch API)

React.js

Frontend development is where design meets logic.

It’s the part of a website that users see, touch, and interact with — from buttons and layouts to animations and responsiveness.

In this post, I’m sharing my learnings about:

What frontend development really is

Core technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

Popular frameworks used in modern web apps

What frontend developers actually do

I’m learning step by step and documenting my journey to stay consistent and improve every day 🚀

If you’re also learning web development or just starting out, this might help you too.

In today’s digital world, almost everything we use — from Instagram to online shopping apps — is built using web technologies.
But have you ever wondered who builds these applications?

The answer is often a Full-Stack Developer.
