A year ago, Pathmind started as a Chrome extension for making mind maps. We added interactive nodes at some point, and that's when the idea of using a mind map as a course format came up.

Traditional courses take a long time to make. You need to plan, record, and edit before publishing anything. On Pathmind you can put together a lesson in under 20 minutes without recording a single video. The mind map format also helps learners since they can navigate topics visually instead of sitting through a long video.

We moved from the extension to a full website, ran a waitlist, and started building the course side after the first users came in. We're at 2,000+ maps created and some people are already publishing courses.

I'm writing this to share how it went and get feedback, particularly from people who have built or used course platforms.
