Tech Deregulation Plus Layoff

Here's the story( as told by A.I. to one of the million of users of A.I.)

Please enjoy the story. The Caffeine-Fueled Conundrum is allegorical, it examines absence of job security.

lessons

most management decisions are important to the business

conversations assist coders in dealing with consequences of losing their jobs.

P.S. This is just a story. It does not intend to imply some companies are 'better' than others. It doesn't emphasise categories like 'millennial' or 'viral' trends. It shows how different developers worry about different things at founder stage. You might learn something from it.

The Caffeine-Fueled Conundrum
In the dingy "Bitter Brew" coffee shop, a group of over-caffeinated developers gathered, surrounded by stale air and broken furniture. They multitask more often because of an increase in remote work. They prefer to hold quick meetings so they can get back to freelancing.

The senior developer Dylan is twelve years the senior. He sips on lukewarm coffee, brushes back parts of his messy hair and clears his throat to speak:

"alrite guyz, todays topic - estimatin market cap 4 apps w/ 1mil+ users"

The shop gradually gets noisier but this is noise developers can manage without difficulty.

Courtney (typing message on laptop )
IDK Dylan . market's 2 volatile. blockchain & decentralized apps r wildcards

Spencer (fidgeting with phone):
yeah,& dont 4get budget overruns! our last proj went 200%over

Cillian (scratching head over last layoff email)
not 2 mention regulatory headaches(GDPR, CCPA) ugh

Steven (former crypto trader) is known for rapid speaking cadence and rushed shopping, points out something obvious.
"c'mon guyz!!! we need 2 provide estimates. clients r waitin!"

Sally, the quiet one, adjusts nerdy glasses for comfort; she crunches the numbers in a flash .

"uh.. developers.. what are we thinking about @ tiktok's valuation? 1 day it's 50bil, next day it's 20bil!"

Spencer rolls his eyes.
"exactly! & whats w/ these new platforms? web3, metaverse... how do we value those?"

Sally sighs in boredom. no point aiming to predict Metaverse investors or compare hundreds of A.I. benchmarks. Better if her group keeps things simple.

"i say we just use historical data & hope 4 the best"

Steven stops replying to emails once he hears this. He won't approve of a simple valuation proposal. He knows the work that must be done. He clicks the voicenote icon to argue, "That's not good enuf. we need a better system!"

Dylan cuts in . Waiters slowly cart away empty coffee saucers and trays of fast-food. Dylan provides just what they need, his simple suggestion may benefit the laid-off beginners. "how bout we jus use this framework?"

Dylan shares a Google Document titled Estimated Market Capitalization (EMC) Framework. They receive a notification about this document from their different phones.

EMC Framework Summary

User Growth Rate (UGR)

Revenue Streams (RS)

Market Share (MS)

Competitive Landscape (CL)

Regulatory Environment (RE)

Technological Advancements (TA)

User Engagement (UE)

Retention Rate (RR)

Courtney has work to do and indicates the time for their meeting is over.
(types message on laptop) "alrite, lets refine dis framework & meet next wk @ decent coffee shop"

As each of them sign off, Spencer grumbles, "budget overruns r killin us..." But no one hears. Sally fights yawns, the hidden signs of lost sleep are now all over her face. She thinks : "tell me bout it... my car's repossession notice arrived yesterday"

The only member who leaves chuckling to himself is Cillian, there's a silver lining in all this. "Well, at least our code's solid."

The group broke off, departing the dismal coffee shop, determined to create a better estimation system.

Risks in growing any startup

Here's a story: The Developer's Dilemma

With startups, positioning your business could protect it from the confusion that comes with others copying your idea ( founder risk ) or others suing your business (occasional dissatisfied clients risk )

Some startups bring in experienced CEOs, who don't wish to follow the hype, and who never impress journalists with business scale. A CEO might demand let's establish a framework for more accurate estimates. Estimating market capitalization requires careful consideration of multiple factors.
Let's continue this discussion and strive for more clarity.

Here's an example of this kind of critical evaluation. a private forum is assembled, among them a group of seasoned developers. They gather to discuss the challenges of estimating market capitalization for applications with over a million users.

The Moderator kicks things off. "Welcome, everyone. Today's topic: estimating market capitalization. Who's willing to share their insights?"

Alex goes first."I'm hesitant. The market's too volatile, especially with newer platforms like blockchain and decentralized apps."

Annabel, who has faced loads of criticism for complex cloud migrations, is unsure also. : "I agree. User growth doesn't guarantee revenue. Look at Twitter's struggles despite its massive user base."

Someone in the audience points to all the others scrolling, and announces something everyone needs to hear. "Not to mention the ever-changing landscape of social media. TikTok's valuation skyrocketed, but can it sustain?"

More audience members easily recognize the factor of advantage. *With valuation, either your business is a giant or your business isn't. *

"What about established players like Facebook and Google? Even they face uncertainty. Regulatory pressures, data privacy concerns, and shifting advertising markets."

A developer called Smith is all smiles as his Quest headset syncs to serves more notifications. The background doesn't distract him from stereoscopic 3D gaming. He blurts out "Exactly! And what about the impact of emerging technologies like AI and VR?"

The Moderator has to cut in. "We can't ignore the rise of open-source alternatives. How do we value those?"
It seems we're all cautious about estimating market capitalization. What's the solution?"

"Collaborative, data-driven research. We need more transparency and standardized valuation methods." Annabel quickly replies.

Alex nudges Casey, who actually knows incredible stories about social media visibility. "And consideration of non-traditional metrics, like user engagement and retention."

Disappointed Gamers

Games are subjects for many debates.

Most of these debates involve the emerging business model around the games we play today. Free games are viewed as inferior to paid games. In fact, the more money it takes to purchase a copy of a game (as well as to unlock significant artifacts ) the higher it is ranked among competitive gamers.

Obviously growth in the gaming economy raises questions like

what does this game mean to these fans?
2.
will there be multiple games under this franchise?
**
3.
should gamers be open to alternative platforms?**
4.
does the character design ever reveal consumer bias?
5.
how massive is the backlash when platform is no longer supported by new gaming titles?

Here are a couple of threads. What do they want the studios to avoid? What do they wish to prevent?

Software-Driven Organizations

Hello Dev Community!

Thanks for all the constructive lessons and discussions about various aspects of systems and project frameworks!

In this post, I'd like to explore some things about working within an organization that might not be so apparent to those who apply from the outside.

Years ago, the common belief was that organisations 🏢 accepted only personnel with prestigious educational records ,or those with extensive experience as managers. Once in, they would obtain as much ,by way of perks, as they requested for. They had the most influence in the company.🏯

 Software Sector

But software-driven companies ARE different. Developers build them, ☁️ clouds ☁️ support them, and people from several countries depend on their APIs and other open-source libraries.

To be part of one, you simply draw upon training and commitment in software as you would do in any other discipline. Most of these companies encourage open dialogue🗣 and brainstorming 🙇‍♀️ over the direction they should be headed, and the best ideas usually get greenlit. 💚

 Work Concerns

Ever since the outbreak of nCOV-19, there have been more discussions about the value of remote workgroups and digital conferencing.
Sadly, there has also been an upsurge in 🚓🌡cybersecurity alerts, despite best practices
of access management and encryption (https://www.simplilearn.com/data-encryption-methods-article)

I encourage every prospective developer to take a few minutes of free time to ask themselves some of these delicate questions:

Do you agree with policies on data privacy? Or should platforms be free to monetize user information?

Do you worry about ♨️ network security? ♨️ Or are various reports on 'spyware' and 'malware' merely hoaxes?
Pegasus(https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DzZfXNWgklpg)
Predator(https://gizmodo.com/google-chrome-android-predator-spyware-cytrox-zero-days-1848963816/amp)

Do you consider 🤔 the impact of open source on commercial software packages and on standardized software design ? Or are you keen on everyone using the same tools at little cost?

These questions🧭 can reveal the kind of organization one would prefer to apply to, or even to startup sometime in the future.

It's better to know something about where you stand - so whether you work remotely or in person, you have your perspective on appropriate practices / user safeguards.

STMC (Forschen nach Virtual Boardroom im Web http://www.smtcglobalinc.com)

TAJ (ICT Laboratory http://www.tajglobalacademy.com)
