Turned my $228/year analytics problem into a $29 template business

Problem: Analytics subscriptions bleeding cash

I was paying Plausible $228/year for basic page tracking. Did the math - $1,140 over 5 years just to see visitor numbers.

Solution: Build once, own forever

Spent 2 weeks building Fikrah Analytics:

Complete Next.js + Supabase platform
Privacy-first (no cookies/GDPR issues)
Real-time tracking & beautiful dashboard
Sub-1KB script (faster than GA)
Business model insight:

Instead of SaaS (competing with Plausible), selling the SOURCE CODE for $29.

Why this works:
✅ Customers own forever (huge value prop)
✅ No server costs for me
✅ Higher perceived value ($29 vs years of subscriptions)
✅ Perfect for agencies/developers
✅ Scales without operational overhead

Early results:

Built landing page with Payhip integration
5-minute demo video showing full setup
Targeting indie makers, agencies, privacy-conscious businesses
Revenue goal: $1000/month (35 sales at $29)

Target customers getting value:

Indie makers: Stop subscription bleeding
Agencies: White-label for clients
Developers: Learn modern stack
Businesses: Own their data
The key insight: Developers will pay once to own vs subscribe forever.

Demo: https://youtu.be/kV04WXvjW7s?si=itvakorUUiqoYdOy
Product: https://www.fikrah.xyz/

What do you think of the "source code vs SaaS" approach?
How I Turn Any Idea Into an MVP in 7 Days (My Step-by-Step Process)

Turning an idea into a real product can be overwhelming. From evaluating if it’s even possible, to legal headaches, to the chaos of development—it’s easy to get stuck or give up.

I’ve been there. But after a lot of trial and error, I’ve developed a process that lets me turn almost any idea into a working MVP in less than 7 days. Here’s how I do it:

Clarify the Idea
As soon as I have an idea, I work to remove any uncertainty. My two favorite techniques:

Discuss with trusted friends and developers: Honest, unfiltered feedback is crucial.
Leverage AI: I use prompts like be honest and criticize this idea to get tough, useful feedback.

Validate with a Landing Page
Before writing any code, I create a simple landing page outlining the core features and add an email collector. This helps me gauge real interest and gather feedback.

I share the page on X and Reddit to get honest opinions and see if anyone actually cares.

Build in Public
Once I see interest, I start development—and I share my progress publicly. This not only keeps me accountable but also helps build an audience for launch.

Tip: Don’t just code blindly—have a clear plan. (I’ll share more on this in a future post.)

Marketing is Everything
This is where your project succeeds or fails. Start marketing early, not after you launch.
