Most "learn DevOps" resources have the same two gaps: no real order to work through, and interview prep that's just flashcard definitions — "What is Docker?" — instead of anything resembling an actual interview.

I kept seeing this from both sides: freshers who'd watched forty tutorials and still couldn't say what to check first when a container won't start, and experienced engineers prepping for a cert with nothing to practice on but multiple-choice trivia. So I built DevOps Level (https://devopslevel.com) to close that gap — free to start, no account needed to read most of it.

What's in it:

A 14-stage roadmap, Linux through GitHub Actions, each stage with real explanations, not just a checklist.

20 tool guides, 260+ pages, built as deep dives instead of cheat sheets — the Kubernetes guide deploys a real multi-service app, exposes it through an Ingress, and walks through three real broken-pod scenarios.

560 interview questions, scenario-based on purpose: "A container that ran fine yesterday now fails with 'no space left on device' — what do you check first?" not "define a container."

Practice Ground — a simulated terminal you type real commands into, graded on real behavior, no cluster required.

Testing it for real caught things memory wouldn't have

Writing a DevOps guide from memory is the fast way. I didn't do that — most of this was built and tested against a real Docker daemon and a real local Kubernetes cluster first, and the write-up follows what actually happened.

That surfaced real numbers I wouldn't have guessed: a rolling deployment measured against 200 live requests came back 199/200 successful, not the "zero-downtime" claim most tutorials make — the one dropped request is exactly what explains the readiness/SIGTERM timing gap worth teaching.

It also caught a mistake of my own. Mid-build, I ran a broad docker volume prune -af meaning to clear a few leftover test volumes — and it took out a Jenkins home directory and a Redis volume from an unrelated project along with it. Nothing unrecoverable, but a real reminder that wrote itself straight into the guide: list what a broad, forced prune would actually remove before you run it. The guide is better for having hit that for real instead of just warning about it in the abstract.

Where it's at

Free tier covers the full roadmap, ~50 interview questions, and the first page of every tool guide. Full access is ₹299/month or ₹1,999/year. Still early — genuinely want feedback on what's missing or unclear.

If you're learning DevOps or prepping for an interview: https://devopslevel.com

Happy to go deeper on any of this in the comments.
