This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 1: Touch Grass

 Core Idea

With most of our work been handled by agents touching Grass has become quite a trend in the current world , But thier is a problem with that as well ...

 Question Yourself

When was the last time you went to a nearby gathering , concert or even your nearby garden and was actually in the moment and not checking your phone.

I hope you all remember when Boredom was an actual thing But with the current media landscape our brain is always getting stimulated even when we are not at work that's where Hover gives you a chance to live again

 Description of Hover

Its time for you to take a break keep your phones at your desk select a place it you want to chill out at and document the experience focus on the surroundings focus on things which in general you wont even notice about and go again to same place next day or to a new place and connect memories

 Video Demo And Github Repo

Video Demo : https://youtu.be/aDCot9dAkPs?si=3jjP7IGYAvAg3Dea

Github Repo : https://github.com/YATHARTH-Sriv/hackhover

 How It Works

User enters a new place , creates a new visit to it of about 10 or 15 minutes and gets some instructions from ollama in the form of audio provided by elevenlabs

Leaves thier phone aside and experience the surroundings

Returns and dictates thier experience which is saved as a memory in backboard for the future visits

Next day again can go to a new place or the saved previous ones to continue thier journey

 Why Does Open Innovation Matter?

I wanted the part that decides what you should notice outside to run on local.

Hover uses the open-weight Gemma 3 model through Ollama to create a small observation for each visit.

When you return to the same place, it can take something you actually noticed before and turn it into a new question.

That also means I can change the model or the way it behaves without rebuilding the whole idea around one closed AI service.

Though The experience is not fully offline: ElevenLabs provides the voice and transcription, and Backboard holds the memories used across visits. But the thinking behind the visit happens locally, and the most important part happens away from every screen.

 How I Built It

I built Hover with Next.js and TypeScript visits and the reflections you choose to save are kept in a local SQLite notebook.

For a new visit, Gemma 3 runs through Ollama and writes a short observation card for 10 or 15 minutes.

ElevenLabs turns that card into audio, so you can hear it once and leave your phone behind.

When you come back, you can speak about what stayed with you. ElevenLabs transcribes it, and you can review the words before saving them.

The app then sends the saved text to Backboard as a memory for that place.

On your next visit, it retrieves a previous memory and gives it to Gemma to make the next card feel connected to your own experience.

 Prize Categories

 Main Theme Touch Grass

as this project rather than giving you a screen based task makes you go outside without any distractions

 Best Use of ElevenLabs

ElevenLabs gives the observation card a voice.
When you return, its speech-to-text turns a spoken reflection into words you can check before saving

 Best Use of Backboard

Backboard gives each saved place its own memory.
Hover saves your reflections earlier and Before a later visit, it searches those memories and passes a real detail back to the local model.
