Hi Dev!

I'm the maker of Shorten Sentences, an AI writing tool focused on one task: helping you turn wordy English sentences into clearer, shorter drafts.

The goal isn't to summarize everything or make every sentence as short as possible. It's to remove unnecessary wording while keeping the details your reader needs.

Here's what you can do:

• Choose Balanced for natural edits, Simple for everyday wording, or Tight for a stronger cut.
• Add must-keep terms to guide the edit around important names and phrases.
• Set an optional word target.
• Compare the original and edited word counts, review the changes, and copy the result.

For a simple illustration:

Before:
“Due to the fact that we missed the deadline, we made a decision to postpone the launch.”

After:
“Because we missed the deadline, we decided to postpone the launch.”

That's 17 words down to 11, with the reason and decision still intact. It's an illustrative example, not a guaranteed result.

You can try the tool without an account, with a limited daily allowance. Free accounts and a paid Pro plan are also available.

Every result is an editing suggestion. Word targets are guidance, and you should check facts, tone, and meaning before using an edit.

I'd love to hear which mode works best for your writing—and where an edit cuts too much or doesn't cut enough.

Thanks for trying it!
