Java 8 vs Java 11 - WHICH JAVA CERTIFICATION EXAM SHOULD I TAKE

The most important thing to know is that from Java 7 onward, Oracle had split the Java Professional certification into two exams - Java Associate level and Professional level. To become a Java 8 certified professional, you need to first pass OCA before taking OCP, which means you need to pass two exams to become an Oracle certified Java professional.

To acquire the latest Java 8 Professional Certification (OCP8), you need to first pass the Java 8 Associate Certification (OCA 8). In other words, you have to take two exams - 1Z0-808 (Java SE 8 Programmer I) and 1Z0-809 (Java SE 8 Programmer II).

This has changed for the good and now you can become an Oracle certified Java professional by passing just one exam, Java SE 11 Developer, OCP 11, or 1Z0-819. This is the main reason I am asking Java developers to go for Java SE 11, combined with its also the latest Java certification available in the market.

Though, if you hold any older Java certification like Java SE 5, 6, or 7 then you can also take an upgrade exam for Java SE 8 and Java SE 11 and can eventually become a certified Java developer by passing one exam.

Another reason to go for Java SE 11 certification is that it's the most up-to-date certification. I highly recommend this exam to new developers who are trying to get Java certification, because Java 11 certification covers several new features in the language and will provide a competitive advantage to you on Interviews. It's also better to learn the future way of using Java sooner than later.

I have always said that passing an IT certification requires three things, a good course, a good book, and a nice practice test, and Spring certification (EDU-1202) is no different. If you want to pass this in-demand and prestigious Spring professional certification on the first attempt, here are my recommended books, courses, and practice test.

#Spring Professional Certification Exam Tutorial - Module 01, Module2, ... This is an excellent preparatory course for Spring programmers aiming for Spring professional certification on Udemy.

The course is divided into many modules and it is very well structured and covers all exam topics in good detail.

If you are preparing for the EDU-1202 exam and need a complete course then I highly recommend this one, especially if you have worked in Spring before and know Spring basics. You can also buy this course for $10 or slightly more in Udemy sales which happen every now and then.

#Spring in Action, Fifth Edition I didn't find any Spring certification book which is especially covering Spring Professional certification with code EDU-1202 but this book is the closest I got.

This book is still very good and covers most of the exam topics and if you go through the book you will be in good shape for this exam.

If you can afford then there is no better way to prepare for Spring certification than attend the classroom training. Even though Vmware makes the mandatory training optional now, it is still recommended and the best resource to prepare for Spring certifications like Spring Professional Certification and others.

When it comes to preparing for Spring Core Professional v5.0 Certification, there are not many online courses and classroom training available as people are still working on older Spring versions.

Since you need to know Spring 5 concepts for this certification, it’s better to start with a Spring course that focuses on Spring 5 like Spring Framework 5: Beginner to Guru. This is not just great to learn Spring in general but also get the rock-solid foundation for your certification.

3. Choose a Spring 5 Simulator (Practice Tests)

Practicing in a real exam like scenario is very important to improve the speed and accuracy requirements to pass Spring certification exams. Since you need to solve 50 questions in 90 minutes and you have to score 76% correct answer, both speed and accuracy is very important.

A good exam simulator not only helps you to improve speed and accuracy but also fill the gaps in your knowledge and help you to find your strong and weak areas.
