So, you’ve just had a brilliant idea for a game-changing new product. Your palms are shaking with excitement. You can’t think of anything else but getting this thing into the world as fast as possible.
Alright, easy there tiger. Inspiration is an artist’s game, but it’s not the way to build a startup. You’ve got a spark, but like it or not, as Lenny Manor says, your idea sucks until proven otherwise.
The good news is that there are tried and tested ways of proving your idea doesn’t suck. You can, if you’re lucky and focused, validate your startup idea in 1 week.
Sounds crazy? It really isn’t — you always want to validate as soon as possible, otherwise you may end up burning a lot of resources and losing a lot of time. We’ve been there and done that — read more about our experience...

Why not everyone should learn how to code

Code is no longer the best way to build software. At least, not always.
We are used to a world where it’s the only way to build apps — in 2019, code runs almost everything. As a result, learning to code presents itself as a worthy investment of time, a way to create things while being essentially guaranteed a well-paying job on the other side. Yet, whether or not it’s the best path depends a lot on your motivations for considering it. If you want to learn to code because you love getting into the technical weeds of a problem, then everything I’m about to say need not concern you. But if you’re looking at code as a means to bring your dream app to life, or as the solution to your career woes, well, at least let’s have a conversation about no-code first.

Getting apps built is expensive

The code-based web development industry is booming, but it’s creating a lot of inefficiencies along the way. Learning to code is a bit like learning how to make an elephant do tricks. You slowly pick up on how to communicate with one another, you tell it to do stuff, you get confused when it doesn’t respond, and you panic when it starts running out of control. All of this is of course is a messy process, full of late nights and headaches, and it takes time. And unfortunately the speed at which people are learning to be coders is a lot slower than the speed in which businesses can find them.
In business, as we all know, things that take time usually also take money. Learning to build web and mobile applications in code takes a lot of time and dedication, and like any highly skilled profession, developers can charge accordingly. Ideas for this or that app are abundant, but so are the stories of entre and intrapreneurs, who have spent tens of thousands of dollars on development agencies in an attempt to bring their dream app to life, not to mention the thousands more on revisions and new features. Read more...

Check out this new interview with Zeroqode founders for Startup Valley and get some inspiration.

Zeroqode no-code developer and no-code product creator

We are Levon Terteryan and Vlad Larin – Founders of Zeroqode which is a platform that brings together all things no-code – app builders, app templates, courses, development services, plugins etc. All these things are aimed at increasing the speed and decreasing the costs of web and mobile app development up to 10x.

We are currently the #1 no-code developer and no-code product creator in the world.
The goal is to make Zeroqode for complex web apps what WordPress has become for simpler websites.

How did you get the idea to Zeroqode?
Back in September 2015 Levon, one of our co-founders, has stumbled upon Bubble visual programming platform on Product Hunt.
He got intrigued by its promise of creating web applications without code and decided to give it a try. In only 7 days, himself alone, without any coding skills, he has built an app which if developed with code would have taken at least 2-3 months and would have cost at least $7-10 thousand.
He got excited with the idea and was surprised that there are no dedicated services around no-code development. So he reached out to Bubble’s co-founders and asked if they would be interested in a partnership which they were.

Soon after, Vlad, co-founder joined him, the business has started growing exponentially and In under 2 years, the team has grown from 1 person to 17. Now we have 10+ no-code developers which in traditional development capacity would compare to around 50 developers.

How difficult was the start and what challenges you had to overcome?
The start was very smooth and the business was developing organically and gradually. Immediately after starting this business Levon had seen significant interest in no-code development services which got him inspired in developing and growing the business. The main challenge to overcome was the growth crisis. At one point after 1 year or so we had to hire and train about 10 new employees in 6 months which was quite stressful.

Who is your target audience?
Our target audience consists of 3 main segments:

Founders – who want to build a startup but either don’t have technical background or don’t have a tech co-founder or don’t have enough funding to get the app development by an agency (https://zeroqode.com/founders)

Designers – who want to add extra value to their services by building not only static web designs but rather fully functional websites and applications (https://zeroqode.com/designers)

Coders – who want to make their work more efficient by using no-code technology for trivial tasks, and using code only when doing something more complex. (https://zeroqode.com/developers)

What is the USP of your startup?
The concept that makes us unique is that we offer products and solutions, which make web and mobile app development up to 10x faster and cheaper compared to traditional development.

Can you describe a typical workday of you?
Our day starts from planning the tasks for the developer team, that way everyone knows what they are working on and in which priority. We use Slack for team communication and Asana for project management. Both are great tools for team work. Then during the day Vlad and the Project management team of 3 deal with incoming requests for new projects, make conference calls with new and existing clients. Levon is mostly taking care of business development, marketing, and new products. So he works closely with our marketing team and coordinates product launches (mostly on Product Hunt, Designer News, Indie Hackers etc.) and explores growth opportunities.

Where do you see yourself and your startup Zeroqode in five years?
In 5 years we see ourselves being the WordPress/Themeforest but for more complex apps. Nowadays most simple applications are built based on WordPress templates. Same can be the case in a few years for applications with more complex workflows which can’t be built on WordPress and the only current alternative for them is coding with PHP, Python etc. Zeroqode provides all the no-code products and solutions (templates, plugins courses as well as customization and development services) which enable building complex applications without code.

What 3 tips would you give other Start-up founders on the way?

Always do something that you love and are really passionate about

Spend as much time building the team as much as building the product

Don’t just try to make more money, but think of the value that you can give to others
