A teacher introduced me to programming in primary school in the early 90s, with Logo. We made a couple of wheeled bots travel along the netball pitch lines in the playground.
I started my own first coding project with b2 Evolution in 2003 at age 19. b2 was forked to make WordPress. My first project was a blog, the CSS of which I hacked on to learn a bit but I never updated it beyond my first few posts, which were about web design news at the time. Someone tried to encourage me to continue but back then I couldn't see the value in doing so.
Before that – that year – I'd done some design with Adobe Illustrator vector blending and Flash tweening to make an animated logo for myself, and learned some HTML through that when it came to embedding the animation in a web page.
