How to do marketing for an open-source project?

As a developer, marketing doesn't always come naturally to us. We tend to focus on writing code and building features, rather than promoting our project to the wider world.

However, in the open-source world, effective marketing is crucial to a project's success. After all, if no one knows about your project, how will it gain interest and collaborators?

I decided to write the article myself because the discovery of marketing for myself is new. It allowed me to focus my learning and share further.

I will move on to what I did to improve marketing

1. create an account on Reddit, Discord and LinkedIn. Find people as well as groups that oscillate around your product. In my case, these were business owners involved in lead generation.

2. Remember that you won't reach everyone, and it's important to build a community and provide value for free.

3. create interesting posts that showcase your tool development process and spread the word on groups related to your product.

4. Contact other open-source projects and see if they would be willing to collaborate or share your project on their social channels.

5. Create a video for present your product.

6. HELP FOR FREE - I love this old Polish saying “How much you give so much you get”

"Marketing is no longer about the things you create, but the stories you tell." - Seth Godin

So there you have it, a developer's guide to marketing an open-source project. Just remember to keep it knowledgeable about code and full of nerdy jokes, and you'll be well on your way to success.

End the end remember to write an article on how to make marketing in an open-source project 🤣.
