The slogan, Inclusion and Diversity, is the latest fad in the tech world. When it comes to Diversity and Inclusion, there is a lot of talking, but not enough receipts.
So I would like to highlight someone who has their receipts! Kim Crayton with her #CauseAScene movement is pioneering effective change in Inclusion and Diversity in Tech.
The #CauseAScene movement is about a "strategic disruption of the status quo in technical organizations, communities, and events."
This movement is not about outrage! As Kim always says, "Outrage is Reactive, Strategy is Proactive." So what's #CauseAScene strategy?
It about highlighting the business and economic case for Inclusion and Diversity. While people have varying political and moral views, no one is gonna argue about making more money 💰. So in #CauseAScene, Kim demonstrates how Inclusion and Diversity affect the bottom-line 💸 of businesses and organizations.
For more information about the business case for Inclusion and Diversity watch Kim's video here:
The #CauseAScene hashtag on Twitter/Instagram and her twitter @KimCrayton1. Using this, Kim provides updates about #causeascence and shares insightful information about Inclusion and Diversity. The hashtag can also be used by others who would like to share something that fits with the #CauseAScene movement.
The #CauseAScene website hashtagcauseascene.com.
This is another way to stay updated with #CauseAScene news. Also, the #causeascene merch shop is located here (All t-shirts you see in this article plus more ).
Inclusion and Diversity Conference/Event Certification. Kim noticed that many events claim to be "inclusive and diverse", but in the end, many fail to live up to that claim. So Kim is creating an event certification that will help events which take inclusion and diversity seriously. She will be promoting worldwide events that pass her certification heavily. Lastly, Kim offers paid coaching/consulting services to organizations and events who need help in this area. For more information about this watch Kim's video here:
The League of White Men 👨. The League of White Men is a strategic response to the results of the 2018 Stack Overflow Developer Survey. This is a "CALL TO ACTION for white men in tech to become POWER Allies" to inclusion and diversity in tech. For more information about this visit the League of White Men on the #causeascene website.
The burden of pioneering effective change with the #CauseAScene movement can't just fall on one person. People who support #CauseAScene in word, must also support it in action. Here's how you can help:
