418 and HTCPCP may become more than a joke soon

I'm a teapot!

The "Hyper Text Coffee Pot Control Protocol" or "418 I'm a teapot" was one of the traditional IETF April Fools' jokes (RFC 2324). Now that IoT is happening, should we redesign it for more than an April Fools joke?

What do you think? Do coffee pots need a separate HTTP-based protocol? Probably no. But what if? Leave your thoughts below.

This is not a joke, I swear.

I totally get what you're saying, but I wish I knew more about HTTP-based protocol to have an opinion or thought to contribute.

Until then, I'll be happily drinking tea awaiting a response. ☕️
