Update: the recordings for Flink Forward Virtual Conference 2020 are now available on Youtube! 🎥
Flink Forward is a community-driven conference for all stream processing enthusiasts, with a focus on all things Apache Flink. Every year, it takes place in San Francisco, Berlin and Beijing. Aizhamal Nurmamat kyzy@iamaijamalEarlier this year, I attended the @FlinkForward for the first time and I absolutely fell in love with many people in the @ApacheFlink community 💓 I was honored and it was an absolute pleasure to speak at the conference today, and hopefully I will see many of you in SFO soon!15:18 PM - 09 Oct 2019
As much as it saddens me to miss out on the hallway track and having too many beers during Flink Fest, the program is still filled with great talks that you can now enjoy from the comfort of your couch. Here are a few that I'm really excited about:
"Autoscaling Flink at Netflix" Timothy tells us how Netflix reduced resource usage by 25-45% after implementing auto-scaling into their Flink pipelines.
"Building Stateful Streaming Pipelines" Ankit shares some lessons learned migrating GoDaddy's batch pipelines to real-time stream processing with Flink.
"Writing an interactive streaming SQL and materialized view engine using Flink" Kenny recounts how Eventador built an end-to-end streaming SQL product leveraging the power of Flink and Calcite.
"Needle in the Haystack: Monitoring Health of a Huge Kafka Fleet with Flink" Ryan and Tirtha share the curious case of using Flink to monitor and troubleshoot AWS' managed Kafka service (MSK).
"Building FeatureFlow, Criteo’s feature data generation platform" Piyush presents FeatureFlow and the challenges of doing Machine Learning at Criteo with a scale of ~300 billion events/day.
"How Lyft built a streaming data platform with Flink on Kubernetes" Micah walks us through Lyft's Kubernetes operator for Flink and their learnings in deploying complex, stateful applications on Kubernetes.
"Introducing Stateful Functions 2.0: Stream Processing meets Serverless Applications" Stephan presents a holistic view of the newest Flink API, opening up new possibilities for stateful serverless applications.
"Flink SQL in 2020: Time to show off!" Fabian and Timo demo a real-world use case using Flink SQL to show off all the latest features, and give an outlook into the near future of the SQL API.
"It’s finally here: Python on Flink & Flink on Zeppelin" Jincheng and Jeff introduce the past, present and future of PyFlink, and showcase how to use it in combination with Zeppelin interactive notebooks.
"Rethinking of fault tolerance in Flink: what lies ahead?" Piotr and Yuan share an update on the efforts to optimize Flink's fault tolerance framework, including anticipated features like unaligned checkpoints.
