Rancher 101 - Secure the Installation Files

Secure the Installation Files

When the cluster finishes building, you'll have two new files in the directory with the cluster.yml file. One is the config file for kubectl. The other is cluster.rke state, which contains certificate and credential information for accessing the cluster.

You can copy the kube_config file to you.kube directory and add it to the KUBECONFIG environment variable, but keep the original.

These files are critical for future access to the cluster, and you'll need them for restoring backups or upgrading the cluster in the future. Make sure that they're backed up, but because they contain information that grants full access to the cluster, make sure they're saved in a secure location.
