Storefront API is only available in GraphQL. There is no REST api as docs claim. I think i can conclude this project is over engineered for a simple case with serverless functions. Taking payments at your website is more secure than doing on shopify window as long as you know how to secure your web server and use known payment gateways REST apis. If there are not gonna be a custom backend code, why do you make the structure more complicated and misunderstandable? Sure serverless is cool for js but not for this

Please take it as a constructive feedback, there is a great nextjs usage for the project i see but i don't see the point of shopify and extra usage of custom serverless api where you will be making custom logic, you can still do the same thing without shopify(mostly used with clunky wordpress) building minimal CMS doesn't take too much time. There is a more learning and engineering curve here than a simple REST api and a static website. The approach is way too hybrid. Someone with similar approach could chuck a wordpress-shopify ecommerce with 10 plugins and sell it for a grand in a week while you are engineering this mess
