Dos:

  • Be good at what you're doing.
  • Your Github; showing code you have written. I want to see what you have created with your own hands. Code style. Cleanliness. Etc. I can tell a lot from looking at code for a minute.
  • Interests
  • Upwork scores if you have them.
  • Keep it short.

Don't:

  • Be not good at what you're doing. If you feel you're middling, find something youre great at and do that. Everyone's a genius at something. Nobody is here to be mediocre.
  • Github full of forks and copied code

When hiring I found there's talkers and doers, and the rare people who are both. I want to sift out the talkers, and hire the doers. Talking about code or elaborate setups don't ship products. I've wasted a lot of time on people who talk a lot but code very little. And I've seen unbelievable productivity from people who didn't say very much.
