Great post. You summarized and supported your arguments in a way that I'm sure many of us front-end developers can relate to. The part about ES modules hit home. It would be so nice to see a stabilization of the JS front-end, and even back-end ecosystem.

However, I think another step in the process of getting there is pointing out that programming languages and their tools are TOOLS. They're not things to favor because of marketing campaigns, or popular opinion. Cutting through that mentality is hard. Because aspiring developers want to build software while being gainfully employed. If the marketing and community communication strategy is largely based on promoting the 'hip' regardless of context, need or demand we will continue to see this trend.
