  1. What is your authority domain?
  2. Test your self in all areas so that your expertise within that domain is unrivaled (or damn good your always in demand)
  3. If EVERYONE refuses to do these unrelated tests (coding puzzles) for the job spec/role. Then at least provide a solution(s) that we can all benefit from. Recruiter/Candidate. What's stopping us from providing them with better tools?
  4. What makes a good, (junior, mid, senior) developer, DevOps, architect, etc... Split them into their respective categories of acceptable criteria on what they should know and qualities they should possess and you will identify what you need. Plus said candidates will also know how to model themselves accordingly. Win win.
