I'm Learning Sketchnoting!

In May 2020, quarantined at home, I accidentally found colours:

As a kid, I had always been creative and had a huge box of colours. I hadn't seen that box for over 2 years in college, but finding it at home that day was just... special. :)

I started doodling and drawing random things, just because it made me happy.

Around the same time, I came across some tweets about sketchnotes. I hadn't heard this term before, but I was fascinated!

So what is Sketchnoting? It is visual notetaking. You try to describe a talk, an article, a book, anything, in a visual way. You need not be an expert artist, ANYONE can make sketchnotes!

I liked reading, I liked watching talks, I liked taking notes, and I liked colours. Sketchnoting was perfect for me! How had I not heard about this before?! XD

I created multiple sketchnotes for documentation, talks and articles. But I never shared them until I watched a talk called Sketchnoting 101 by Nitya Narasimhan. She is a huge advocate for visual notetaking and someone I really look up to.

Later in May, at IWD India Summit 2020, I decided to sketchnote the talks and for the first time, share them. Honestly, I was a little nervous at first, but the support from the community was overwhelming!

Here are a few more sketchnotes I made later.

Colours make me happy. The process of sketchnoting or sometimes, just colouring or doodling is meditative. On some level, it is helping me navigate these heavy times, and I'm grateful for that.
